Repair your VCRs here, and while you are at it convert those old family videos into DVDs for high definition glory!
I'm a firm believer family are the people you choose and the people who choose you, so in the spirit of Mother's Day, your answers don't necessarily have to be about the person who birthed you or those you have birthed.
Motherly figures don't have to be the standard.

Idiot parked here during peak weekend hours
Since we obviously can't really hang it up on the clothesline 🥲
I desperately needed some stuff washed this weekend so when that happens I just set up a clothes horse in the loungeroom, my aunt says turning on the ceiling fan will help. But I was thinking... would putting the rack in the bathroom and turning the bathroom fan and maybe the heater lights on be faster...? 🤔 Anyone know?
How are you guys dealing with this? Definitely jealous of people who have dryers, haha
Cars flipped with doors removed and lane closed, would avoid travel in that direction.
My own mum was great until she wasn't. Hugs for you all.
Been driving for almost 30 years and don't really remember this when I started driving. But the last few years I see it a lot. So I got curious about who is the asshole in this situation?
Today I saw people give horn rage at a guy who stopped on Anzac Parade to drop his kid off. He was leading the traffic so they all had to stop, they were trying to change lanes all nearly crashing into each other. The car in question zoomed after the dropoff then slammed the brakes to show his anger at the horner behind him. It's not the first time I've seen it happen.
I drop my kid off to the same venue but I enter the car park from a side street to drop my kid off there safely. This is fine because it's normal to me and I allow an extra 2 minutes or whatever it takes.
So who is the asshole: a) the guy who makes everyone stop for him; or B) all the people behind for not giving him space or not being patient etc.
Second question: is this allowed in the road rules, assuming its not a taxi? He did put hazards on for 1/2 second before he stopped.
Third question: anyone else think driver quality has declined on the roads over the last 30 years and lives are only saved by the improved safety technology? I won't say why at the risk of being called a xeno (which I'm not) 😁
Automatic weekend Surcharges are getting insane. 10% on Sundays plus card surcharges and you're copping an extra 12% that wasn't on the menu.
Staying home on weekends now. Stay alert everyone
Not sure if this has been asked before, but most local government signs that prohibit smoking normally list the legislation and specify a penalty. This sign simply says it's proud to be a smoke free area. I tried asking an enforcement officer at Martin Place and he said he would fine a person if he caught them smoking in Martin Place. Does anyone know if it's been gazetted anywhere as a smoke free zone?
EDIT: thank you everyone for the support! i'll be wearing the lanyard to (hopefully) increase awareness at least, and ask for seats if i need any 🫠 i'm so glad this post raised awareness for the sunflower lanyard, please educate yourself if you need to and keep in mind other users with the lanyard!!
tldr; i have chronic pain that flares up at times and settles down at others, should i be allowed to wear the sunflower lanyard so i can get a seat?
not sure if this is the correct place to post this but i don't usually see many people with the sunflower lanyard here in sydney.
i got mine because i have "chronic" pain, chronic back pain and some really bad leg/hip pain days. i'm a uni student so if i can't find a seat on the bus/train, i end up taking my bag off since it's too heavy to have on for the whole trip and will just cause me more pain. on bad days i take the L and sit on the floor or the stairs because i have some sort of anxiety? asking people to move, i can't bring myself to do it.
however, i've found that on the couple times i have used the lanyard (once the train was empty, the other was full and i had to stand) i still feel scared to ask for a seat, and i think people just assume i dont need one. i haven't tried anymore yet because i end up taking it off after i use public transport because i feel as though i shouldn't be wearing it since i can just deal with it for the hour trip, or sit on the floor, and go on with my life. so i kinda feel guilty/embarrassed of wearing it because there are other people who need seats/assistance way more than i do. i'm also scared that it will bring unwanted attention from transport people who will think that i'm wearing it for other reasons and will try to help me with the whole process, and i think i have already accidentally done that with a opal checking guy who completely avoided me once he saw the lanyard.
i don't want to take away any help that other people will need more than me, i just really need the seats but feel bad asking for them. i haven't worn the lanyard in a couple months but feel the need to wear it again because the pain is flaring up again.
ironic that these are also supposed to be worn by people who have anxiety but instead its just creating even more anxiety for me.
what are your guys thoughts? am i "allowed" just as much as everyone else to wear these lanyards or should i just suck it up and let the people who really need it get the help they need?
My 9yo is keen to try pool. Any pubs that allow kids at the pool table? We're in inner-south west/St George area.
Its $4.20 at mine. Was it always this high recently?
Hey all - as we've been blessed with clouds once again, hoping to keep this thread open if anyone has any sightings.
Wife and I were going to drive down to Kiama, but the forecast is rain all evening - with Sydney being clear.
This video is from 2016 from Timezone Market City of a Japanese Monopoly Coin Pusher machine. I think I’ve seen it at Hornsby Timezone as well? Have any of you seen it recently? I have a friend who’s gotten into them and to me this is the most ridiculous one so I’d like to show her.
Good luck to anyone that wants to travel from Central to Chatswood, you're looking at a whole lot of fucking around in the rain.
edit: damn, people really don't like visiting their mothers around here
edit 2:
As much as I like to visit her on other days, she won't be around much longer and I wanted to show up on mother's day so she had a nice picture to remember. It's usually a hour's ride to her nursing home. I'm already caring for my dad and I have a job so I don't get to spend hours glued to some fucking train app 6 months in advance or whatever the fuck people are on about now. Mother's day is not an obscure holiday.
You'll all be glad to hear that she's fine and we had a nice couple hours before I went through it all again on the way back. For those that asked, I can't drive due to my peripheral blindness. No, there are no family members that can help. An Uber costs around 50 bucks each way when there isn't surge pricing. She'd be yelling at me the whole time for spending that kind of money. I love the trains, fuck whoever planned (or failed to plan) this.
It really is fucking nasty how some of you have behaved here.
Hi All!
Vegan noob here.
My (adult) son is getting serious with an ethical vegan. She's a fantastic woman, but ... I have serious culinary limitations when it comes to veganism. :)
While I'm testing recipes, I thought also look into quality ingredients. Is there any place I could go that routinely sells great quality tofu/nuts/other proteins?
I could list a half-dozen quality butchers/fishmongers/delis if you were talking meat/fish/cheese, but I really haven't yet head down the path to alternatives and so thought I'd lean on your collective experience.
It's my son and I love him; she's fantastic in her own right and I'd like to make an effort to be welcoming. She's been super-accommodating so far (did I mention fantastic?), but I'd love to include her as we cook up a storm.
Thanks for any help.
Wheeler Heights 12.55am. Saturation turned up
Set was made to look like NYC with the yellow taxis.
I live near Sydney CBD, studio renting, by myself.
Got the three monthly gas bill, and I was charged with estimated gas of 680ish.
This made no sense to me, so I took photos of my meters and submitted it for an evaluation.
I was charged 550.
But my meter reading and what was written on the bill didnt seem to correlate for one of the meter (WT093018).
May I ask someone's expertise regarding how 50.508m3 translates to 13900MJ?
Thank you in advance
Hi,
I've been on a few different vivid cruises and found the smaller 40 yacht cruises with about 10 people at $70pp to be decent value with 1 alcoholic beverage pp and cheese / snack platter on something a little more luxurious and intimate
The cheaper cruises around $20-30 are jam packed, overly loud music and have lines to collect the free alcoholic drink
Looking for less packed Anyone have any particular recommends for this year?
The glass boats are not bad as well but more looking for the smaller luxury yachts ideally under $80pp

Hey, I’m from Victoria so I need some enlightenment. I went out to the Lansdowne Hotel Bar tonight for an event and I was refused entry because I didn’t have a secondary proof of ID?
I’ve never had this happen before or heard of this, I only took out my VIC driver’s license so sadly I had to go home.
He asked me for a passport which I don’t have, some kind of ID from NSW service app which I don’t use or a gun license. I asked him if he could please explain where it states this on the NSW government website or VIC and I wasn’t able to find anything. He told me if I had an issue to call triple zero.
He directed me to talk to the second security guard, when I explain to him that I’m just looking for somewhere it states about the secondary ID rule, he told me “it doesn’t matter because I’m going to refuse you entry either way.”
I wasn’t drunk or argumentative, I was completely understanding that they’re just doing their job but I also would like to go to the paid event, that’s why I’m trying to problem solve.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
