Looking for a casual Soccer/Football league

Lately me and some mates (18-19ms) have really been missing playing full 11-a-side football. I've been playing 5-a-side with Futsal 4 Life but it's not satisfying my craving for full pitch games.

We have been looking for a casual league where we can just get a bit of a run around in evenings/weekends.

Currently I've found Social Football Australia (looks good, maybe a bit pricey?), and Melbourne Social Soccer inc.

I've seen Melbounre Uni Soccer Club occasional runs "social kicks" but it doesn't seem to be on atm.

If you are a part of a club/league that you can vouch for I'd appreciate any advice.

Please keep a lookout for my stolen camera gear

Was enjoying Coldplay but when I got back to the car found a broken window and my camera bag gone :( There was about 4k worth of stuff in there I think, big big lesson to keep it more hidden and not keep everything in one place.

It's a Lowepro Fastpack BP 250 AW III with the logo on the front sharpie'd out black with a pgytech beetle camera clip on it

Inside a,

Canon m50 mark ii with a canon ef-efm adatper on it with a 15-85mm lens

Canon m3 with a sigma 56mm f1.4 on it

Peak design wrist straps and a slide lite

A canon efm 22mm f2 pancake lens

And a tonne more in accessories and lens filters and spare batteries and sd cards and whatnot

Ik it's a long shot but if anyone sees anything similar please lmk :( I don't think I'm gonna get much back in insurance if anything at all. Neither do I think the police are going to be able to do much about it and that this post might be more helpful if anything

Budget-friendly Birthday Ideas for a Melbourne Newbie?

Hey Melbournians!

I’m new to the city and would love some recommendations for a budget-friendly spot to celebrate my birthday with friends! I’m a student, so renting out a large venue is a bit out of reach. Back home, I’d usually host at my place, but I’m in a sharehouse here, so that’s not really an option.

I’m thinking of a low-key get-together, just a way to catch up and introduce a few friend groups to each other. A cozy pub could be nice, but I’m open to other ideas. A park barbecue also crossed my mind if the weather’s nice. Expecting about 10-15 people, though the number’s not set in stone.

If you have any suggestions for fun, affordable spots or BBQ tips, I’d love to hear them! Thanks in advance for helping out a Melbourne newbie!

Found games console on a tram

Hi. I found a portable games console (maybe playstation?) on the #6 tram (tram 3515, city bound) when i got on at williams rd around 4.20. It has a name carved on the back. I gave it to the driver, so if you lost one, call yarra trams lost and found and give the name.

Are there any dollhouse/miniature stores in Melbourne?

I remember there was one in Mont Albert but it closed during the pandemic.

Formal dresses?

Hey guys, I have my year 12 valedictory coming up in a couple of weeks and I have no idea where to go dress shopping!!

Also, I’m only like 154cm and relatively thin, so shops that have a petite range would be much appreciated

Reopen VCAT order vs Enforce order via Court.

Just received a final decision on my VCAT case for bond refund. The order says that the rental provider must immediately pay me back in full.

FYI on some of the case details:

  • End of lease 12/2023;
  • case opened 01/2024;
  • 1st hearing 09/2024 ;
  • 2nd hearing (final decision) 10/2024;

I have a feeling my previous landlord will not follow the order so I have a question to who may have been in similar position.

VCAT website says i can either:

  1.  in the event the other party does not do as instructed in the original order, you can ask VCAT to change the order so the other party must reimburse you if you need to hire someone else to do it.
  2. If a party does not follow the order or you cannot contact them, you may ask the appropriate court to enforce the order. An order will only be enforced at your request. You will need to pay a court fee to enforce the order. These fees can be added to the debt the party owes you. Bear in mind that the debtor may be bankrupt or have no property or income that can be used to pay the debt.

Which way did you choose to enforce the order? was it effective? Did you had to hire a lawyer?

According to 3AW host Tom Elliot saying "Go back to where you came from" is not racism.

Was shocked to hear this in the morning, the amount of shocking right-wing things this radio channel has said and disguised it as logic or neutrality is so funny. They really weren't joking when they said 3AW is a dogwhistle to the citiy's bigots. Especially true given all the 50+ white male callers it gets.

Bringing back a replica sword

Hi everyone, I’m currently in Japan, and I want to bring back a REPLICA/IMITATION katana (so not sharp) but I want to make sure it’s okay and also would like to know how it’ll work. The katana comes in a box and I wouldn’t be able to fit it in my suitcase, so I heard at Japan customs I give it to them and they will wrap it in special tape for me and I can pick it up back in Australia, so I’m just checking this is true. Keep in mind I’m bringing it specifically to Melbourne. Thank u for any help guys.

Metallica Presale - none available?

Wondering if anyone else had success getting tickets to Metallica at 12pm? I joined the queue before 12 and was ~400th in line, but by the time I got in a minute later there was nothing available, not even single seats or any of the expensive VIP packages. I figure there may not have been a lot of availability but it was so blank I thought it looked bugged.

Will try my luck Monday for the general sale!

Melb Central/Big W Cult girls.

Okay so here me out, I've since been made aware that this cult thing in the city is not a new phenomenon but for all intensive purposes, a little while ago while I was in the city- on three different occasions I was approached by three pairs of girls all for different reasons but all within the same vicinity of Melbourne Central and BigW where two of them approached me. On their own they would not have been so strange but it was a very weird day.

I've never been approached before but fairly so on this particular day you could say despite not being an international student- I passed very much as an unassuming young and friendly uni student. Definitely I was wary but didn't realise until afterwards how sketch all of them were and some of their questions because I was trying to be polite by talking (learned my lesson).. Anyways I should have just left especially after a one where they wanted contact details and I now know not to bother with them.

Their strategy is definitely to use genuine directions/survey/directions to strike up a conversation but anyways I'm writing on here because I want to share my theory that Big W Queen Vic is their hub. Might be a bit farfetched but besides the two who approached me there, in a very odd scenario one of the other pairs wanted directions aware that most other shops were closed to a similar shop (eg BigW/kmart) and the third interaction was in the vicinity... I was genuinely not aware of how bad this cult problem is before I had these encounters but just as a warning to everyone if their hub is indeed around Big W I stay away and leave any attempted approaches there. They're definitely smooth and I really hope I'm not bothered by them again in the future.

Do you think Melbournians would be on board with town houses such as these? Are these even feasible in Australia, or are there regulations preventing their construction

How do you keep your scooter safe in Melbourne? Need advice!

Hey Melbourne peeps,

I need some help with scooter security. About three months ago, someone swiped my right side mirror, and now, just today, they’ve taken the back storage box. It’s frustrating and honestly a bit worrying because I can’t keep replacing things.

For anyone who’s been in a similar spot, do you have any tips or advice on how to keep a scooter safe from theft around here? Are there certain locks or security measures that work best? I use a metallic lock on wheels but that's not seems to deter these buggers , I’d really appreciate any recommendations because I can’t afford to keep losing parts like this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Where to get a good massage

Where can I get a good massage? Central Melbourne. I'm not really experienced with it. I want a nice relaxing massage, not a hard one that hurts. Back, shoulders, arms maybe. Nothing sexual, but I'd prefer not be massaged by a man. Any suggestions?
