Does anyone have it?? I cannot find it anywhere for the life of me. Thanks!
I was driving in what I thought was a 60 zone, turned out it was a 50 zone. Feeling extremely stupid and will be much more careful next time. I believe there is a mobile road safety camera on the road where I was driving. How soon after this is it likely to appear on my fines victoria account? I haven't received a letter yet. However, does anyone know when it's likely to show up online, and whether it's likely to show up online before I get a letter? Thank you
How is Werribee to live? I mean, how is the community around there ? Is it close to essential services like shopping centres, Kmart, banks, etc.? Also, is it busy in the in the suburbs with heaps of traffic? Cheers
Is there a name for it?
Hey just thinking about ditching the car and picking up the bike, it's a short while to the train so it makes sense, there's median crossing for cars, idk how to explain it but it's when you're at the middle of the road and waiting to turn right to the next road, anyway, I know as a 19 year old I have to use the road as any other car but can I skip that and cross the pedestrian crossing for that moment bc i feel really unsafe with just a helmet and soon after hit the road and use It to get to the station?
They could be a misconception, misunderstanding, myth, whatever it may be. It could be from locals, or those from interstate who maybe had a bad experience one time and now associate that with Melbourne.
For me, it's the whole "Melbourne has four seasons in one day" line that drives me up the wall. Everyone commenting on Melbourne's weather says this, giving the impression that the weather down here changes from hot to cold to windy to rainy to snowy to heatwave EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. Obviously, it's not true, and I think I could count on my hands the number of days a year where Melbourne truly experiences erratic weather over the course of a day. A more accurate description could be, "Melbourne can experience four seasons in one week, especially during summer and spring."
Keen to hear what misconceptions about Melbourne drive you up the wall, too!
I’m thinking of doing a cheeky camp around the city somewhere for a bit of fun, I’m trying to work out where the best stealthy spots are. Looks like Royal Park, West Gate Park and Yarra Boulevard have some good bush foliage to hide a tent behind. I did this out at eltham by the Yarra during the covid lockdowns when we couldn’t go more than 5km and it was super fun, so I’m keen to see if there’s anything on offer closer to the city.
Seriously though it should organise itself better or have more seating available at gates. And the seats are so close together.
I noticed there’s graffiti inside the city loop tunnels, just wondering how these people can get away with trespassing in there and having enough time to paint tags without getting caught or hit by a train?
Anyone else get this? I'm on Vodafone (who often drop out on calls within my own house), but I've also seen one other post here about someone's experience with Optus:
During work commutes, I find that the mobile coverage when I'm trying to stream podcasts, video etc completely drops out between Rushall and Thornbury stops on Melbourne's Mernda train line. Even if I 'preload' the content before say Clifton Hill, it will often still cut out once you go past Rushall.
People offer the possibility that it's congestion from several users on the train, but it happens even on a quiet train in the middle of the day. In exactly the same spot.
Black spot info online is as sketchy as the reception itself can be, so I thought I'd put it out there to gauge anyone else's experience/insights.
Anyone else get this? What provider? Or what provider do you have that doesn't do this? Also, anyone else in the area change providers for the better due to this? If so, to which provider?
just received call from powercore maybe? about the budget government energy cost scheme whatever it is that was announced about power bills. i’m usually good at spotting scams but really not sure with this one. they had me on the phone for ages and only wanted details like name, address and energy retailer and my bill amounts to compare rates. but it just seemed so convoluted. has anyone else had this call?
Hello!
Am I just complaining about first world problems here or is this legitimately getting weird!?
TLDR: Landlord is obsessed with our house and keeps booking frivolous "maintenance" - 7 visits already this year.
Before you wonder let me say we are exceptional tenants, pay rent ahead and are clean and quiet. The landlord keeps repeatedly booking "maintenance" on the house. Much of it imo quite frivolous. So far this year we have had 7 visits to the property and the landlord has just booked 2 more jobs for May. This will end up being around 10+ visits in 5 months. Last year I estimate it was somewhere between 12-18 visits. A lot of it was what I would consider non-urgent viewings and "repairs". Don't get me wrong, its amazing the house is being kept in good condition but where exactly is the line?
I'll give you an example of two jobs:
Stuff like this is happening a lot amongst a few required repairs - emphasis on a FEW.
Am I just being entitled or is this getting weird?
I know the landlord is very happy with us, we have been living here for years. he is an elderly landlord, retired, and we have been extremely lucky that the agent and landlord are genuinely nice people. Is he just too financially comfortable and bored - or am I missing something?
Thank you for your opinions!
Edit: I am very grateful to have a caring landlord (I show care in return). But, I also need to be able to work without multiple interruptions. It's genuinely starting to impact my work.

Looking for a nice restaurant or bar in the caroline springs/taylors lake area, that is a bit darker setting preferably with booths for a bit of privacy. Any recommendations would be great.
Hey there, I’ve recently moved from Auckland to Melbourne and have near four years experience in university student services. I’ve applied to all the universities in Melbourne and have been rejected with no interviews so far. I’m just wondering if there is a difference in CV format / cover lettering and if there are any suggested services I can go to check my current CV? Would greatly appreciate any help and advice!
Hey y’all.
My zone (unfortunately) only has Opticomm. When it’s working, it’s great! But it’s consistently dropping out. I’m currently with iPrimus and am not a fan of their service. I understand a lot of the issues stem from Opticomm themselves, versus the ISP, but I’m wondering if anybody had any luck service wise switching providers? I’ve been looking at Leaptel. I’m not on a contract and have my own router/mesh set up, but I’m 50/50 about biting the bullet and switching to Starlink. I’ve used them previously and the speeds weren’t great via wifi but at least it was consistent, however I’d rather avoid the $599 hardware fee.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
For example, the type of situation where you've gone into the city and you met the love of your life after walking down a lane way stumbling into a bar, that led to another bar that you can't remember the name of.
Or it could be the utterly bizarre, a tram hits a car in front of you, ruining your travel time but it works out for the best.
Things that you think - Jeez this would only happen in Melbourne.
I'm coming from Canada on a working holiday visa this winter. I got the income part covered, and as much as I'd love to get involved in a serious local software company, I realize my chance is slim due to the 6-months work restriction.
I've never been to Australia and I know virtually no one in Melbourne, but I'd love to get out there and see how things work, talk to people, etc. One of the things I'm good at is software engineering. I have a classic CompSci degree and 10+ years in the industry. I never taught professionally though, and I recognize that requires its own skillset, but I feel confident. At the free-of-charge level I imagine this could attract audience.
My questions are:
Thanks! I hope this doesn't sound too weird. Can't wait to see the city!
Going to Macklemore tonight and got some second hand tickets, anyone know what ‘section upper level’ means, says to enter door 18 and seat 600, I can’t tell if these will be restricted view or not ://
Hi Melbourne! I'm from Adelaide and I want to get a career in music, so my city isn't really the best spot for me explore this. I'm 18 and I'm saving for a townhouse or freestanding unit within 45 minutes from the CBD. Any tips?
I work in Avondale Heights. Around 10 hours of pedaling the bike gets me $70 in Uber and $30 in Dash. This is really frustrating as I always work at peak times. I also always ride to hotspots like Essendon Airport (which are too far but I got no choice) but that's what I get on a usual day. I know neighborhoods such as Footscray or CBD or Flemington might have better conditions but they are too far from me to ride there and go back. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. I've been doing this for the last 4 weeks but couldn't improve the income and become very exhausted and had several minor accidents.
Can anyone please recommend psychologist or mental health professional near CBD? Preferably who offers bulk billing, but I understand it's hard to find one these days and happy to go mixed billing.
I have a bad shoulder and knee injury any recommendations I live in Bundoora 3083 close to mill park. 18yr old with Medicare and healthcare card
My vote is outside Revs
Cows on the M1 Ring Road in Geelong today, causing only some minor delays with coppers on the case making sure they were safe.
I had my first name legally changed and it has changed on my license but not the MyLearners app. Does anyone know if theres a way I can change it in app or if it will affect anything? I made an enquiry but they just told me how to get my name updated on license, not in app.
Anyone know cheap insurance company for comprehensive car insurance? Google and compare market websites ain't helping and my current Rollin has lost their mind with premium prices recently.
