Hoping to get advice on learning photography with DSLR. Courses online, in person or somewhere I haven’t thought of yet. Thank you in advance
Need some advice. I moved next to a decent sized suburban block with a 50 year old huge house - there's a major renovation that involves building an extension.
There's 2 senior builders running the show and a team of 5 internationals. It looks like a sweat shop and I hate the dynamics but that's just my opinion. The builders were a bit tipsy on the first evening we met and blurted out "it's all legit" after we introduced, he then wanted to confirm how much I paid for my house.
So all 7 live in the house while it's being built. The team work 7-7 every day but I've been woken earlier most days because there's just so many people. They have incredible hustle but no understanding of safety.
Im not a Karen, noise was made when my house was built too, but they worked all day again Sunday which is what's broken me, they technically didn't use power tools but they perform what amounts to construction work. Listening to a team scraping shovels and filling a skip bin up with old bricks the entire day.
Confronted them this morning and they played dumb. He said it's still a residence and it's no different to cleaning his yard. I asked why were you wearing ear muffs for 'cleaning the yard'.
Should I just suck it up or if making a complaint (council?) do I have to provide mountains of evidence and is anything gonna actually change? Cheers.
Can anyone remember going to a 'rave' in 2001 I think at the old Entertainment Centre? Can you remember what it was called and when? All I remember is parking the car, walking in and trying not to trip over the rippled carpet everywhere as it was obviously about to close down!
For example Andrew Forrest son Sydney, goes to my school UWA and Ronaldo (yes that Ronaldo) grandparents and relatives live in Perth.
A lot of my friends who go to scotch college and hale see notable CEOS coming in and out.
Hey Perthians, my brother (age 20) and myself (age 25) have recently moved to Perth, we are both introverts and looking to make some friends in our age range. Just wondering if you had any suggestions of good places or ways to meet people roughly in our age range?
Thanks in advance
Edit:
I have been advised to add some more details about myself, here are some of my hobbies and interests of my:
- Bouldering
- Learning
- Reading (listening to audio books usually non fiction)
- Hiking
- Conversations, I usually like having slightly deeper honest conversations
- Coffee and cafes!
- Exploring new places- Self development
- I like technology, I work with AI and usually have some kind of side project or business I'm working on
I'm sure is more but that's all I can think of right now :)
I lived in Tasmania my whole life until about a month ago, I moved to Perth for a fresh start after the end of along term relationship.

Just wanted to talk to you about your experiences in person just to understand the market better. If you're up for it, comment and I will DM you to meet you in the city and I'll buy you a free coffee for a 10 to 15 minutes question and answer. I PROMISE I WONT BE TRYING TO SELL YOU AMWAY OR ANYTHING.
Edit - I must reiterate, i wont be selling or convincing you to do anything for me but just telling me your story. You are permitted to walk away if you feel like i am.
Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy some cleanskin red wines this week (straight varietals only like Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot, Grenache etc., not blends) for a wine blending game I'm planning for a party. Has anyone seen anything like these in liquor stores around Perth? I've looked in the usual places but they tend to be Shiraz or Cabernet only or blends like Cab Merlot. I'm looking for at least a third straight varietal. Thanks!
I can't see myself ever becoming a homeowner, so I'm trying to think outside the box to get into the market.
When someone buys a home, how much land beneath it do they actually own? For example, could I dig a tunnel underground and build a home down there without having to purchase the land on the surface?
Or how about up above in the sky? If I build a home on an anchored floating balloon of helium, how high in the sky must it float above someone else's home so that I'm not trespassing?
Any other ideas that doesn't involved being a million dollars in debt for 30 years is greatly appreciated thanks!
Title is rough so I'll elaborate.
What happens when, say, the truck picks up the Green lid kerbside bin and it doesnt have solely green waste/compostable bags in it? Do the truck loads get roughly picked through or sorted when dumped at the dumpsites?
One of our neighbours puts out the Green and Yellow (recycle) bins out and I'm dead certain they don't have only green waste/recycling in them - because 1) they definitely aren't the type for gardening or sorting what waste goes into what bin, and 2) from past experience and visual queues (someone had put a general waste bag into our Green waste bin and while im not certain, i have seen them checking other peoples bins on collection day; and they've put all 3 bins out today despite it being a Green/Red week, and the Yellow/Recycling bin definitely looks to have random shit hanging out of it that doesn't look like recycling).
This isn't about fines and reporting to council perse, just wondering if contaminated bins fuck up the truckloads or not - because it'd be a damn shame to fuck with this new FOGO system we just got because some people are being lazy/inconsiderate.
Hi there,
I’ll be doing a drive from Perth airport to Merredin today. Any recommendations for food stops along the way? In particular, any good bakeries?
Thanks in advance!

r/Perth, I know we live in a superior city with no toll roads and whatnot. But all of a sudden I'm going on a work trip to Melbourne and need to fill in some downtime.
Since I'll be in this foreign country for more than a few days, but believe in supporting the WA economy, are there any of our people and businesses I should see or buy from whilst there?
Bonus if it's in the Northern Suburbs in my case but feel free to give elsewhere some love.
I’ve been looking for blue and pink diamonds and have seen so many online but would feel much safer dealing with an actual IRL jeweller. Does anyone have recommendations of places in Perth that has them or someone that sources them? thank you ☺️
It was probably in the late 90s, and I only remember it vaguely … it could’ve been any radio station or even something else entirely, but I always remember a metronome dancing to a song like that . . .
Hi
Before I fly to Perth and the coast to explore it for myself, I wanted to first get an idea of the different areas that would be suitable for us to buy either an apartment / villa / townhouse / duplex / house. A studio apartment may also satisfy our need. I am not interested in land for sale or caravan / holiday parks.
I would appreciate any guidance to help filter the areas first, and thereafter I can make a shortlist of areas to explore myself. I am interested in areas on the coast anywhere between Rockingham and Hillarys. I would consider Perth is there was a nice view of the Swan River (say from a small apartment).
I am still trying to get an idea of prices, and am aware that Cottesloe is expensive. Pardon my ignorance while I am investigating this. For now say my budget is $500k, I am going to assume the best this could get us an apartment or studio and that is fine.
The requirements are
The beach requirement can be dropped for Perth if it has a nice view, our preference though is to be next to a beach so we are looking at the coast.
It does not have to be a flashy neighbourhood, we are not fussed. However it cannot be somewhere I will expect to be roughed up or run into clowns (I do not mind if there is or is not a local night life). Plus I will have family visiting occasionally. This is an interstate move from Sydney and in some places you run into clowns.
Thank you
I have been renting an apartment for 6 months and the agent said that they would receive the electricity bill and it would be invoiced to us. Haven’t gotten anything in 6 months and our lease ends in a few weeks. Does anyone have any idea of how much we should be expecting to pay?
hey y’all just wondering if anyone can recommend any good cafes or dessert shops, preferrably around Perth (SOR)
only places i know are La Bomb Cookies n Gelato in Cottesloe, Yo-chi and San Churros 🥲
I like listening to the radio while I’m driving instead of podcasts or my own playlists, just for some variety, and I used to quite enjoy 95.3. I (unfortunately) only speak English, so it always felt like a pleasant surprise.
I noticed (semi-) recently that it had turned to static, but it’s dawned on me that it has probably been months. I can’t find any information about the station going off air. Anyone have any idea what happened?
EDIT: it also isn’t listed as a Perth-based station on digital radio apps, and I can’t find it when I search for it by name.
Hey everyone!
I’m reaching out to the r/Perth community to gather some insights and advice on FIFO (fly-in fly-out) opportunities, particularly those that offer the highest pay with relatively quick training pathways. I’m looking for recommendations on:
A bit about me:
I’d prefer longer stints with extended breaks (e.g., 2/2, 3/4) rather than shorter schedules like 8/5.
Any insights, recommendations, or shared experiences about transitioning into FIFO work would be immensely helpful. If you have experience with recruiters, training courses, or specific companies that might align with my background, I’d really appreciate the info!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Belmont Forum is officially the worst shopping centre, where people are stealing your grocery bags off your shopping trolley, the moment you look a little left or right, trying to put grocery bags in your car, Avoid this shopping centre or be VERY VERY cautious….This has happened now multiple times with me and i have seen a lot of people upset with this behaviour.
Hi everyone. I've been in Perth for the past six months and I've been loving it to bits. Friendly people, reasonable utilities and oil prices and great food and drink.
When I first came to Perth I stayed in Armadale and heard the horror stories about thugs, drugs and tweekers. But then after half a month, the only horror story around is the fact that property prices are this area is skyrocketing.
Just wanted to know what everyone thought of this beautiful suburb as I could even see myself living here for the rest of my life.
Hi all!
I’m trying to prep for the Perth Summer and was wondering if the heat here warrants shorts? For context I’m a man, mid 20s, and generally only wear pants. Has anyone here found any lighter pants that are good for Perth climate or are shorts a must ? 😂 I’d appreciate any suggestions for brands / styles too!
Thanks!
