What was better, crazier and more dangerous, Fed square during the World Cup games or the Travis Scott concert mosh pit?

My mates and I are in a debate about which was better and we’re torn

Content creation sub?

Does anyone know if there is a sub for Aussie social media coaches or content creation gurus or similar? I’m looking to follow a few people who can keep me up to date with latest trends, audios etc, as well as real feedback on courses and paid resources.

I am hesitant on buying a course from an Aussie creator and it would be so good to be able to discuss this

Julius’s day out

The price of life nowadays

Julius wakes up on a bench in a strange city, rubbing his eyes in confusion. "Where am I? What is this place?" He stands up and looks around at the modern surroundings of Melbourne in 2024. "Rochelle? Tonya? Chris? Drew?" he calls out, but there’s no response.

Determined to find his family, he sets out, spotting a convenience store and heading inside. "Hey, man," Julius says to the clerk, "I need to find a pay phone. My wife’s gonna kill me if I don’t call her."

The clerk raises an eyebrow. "Pay phone? Dude, they don’t exist anymore."

Julius’s eyes widen. "What? No pay phones? How do people call home?"

The clerk pulls out his iPhone and hands it to Julius. "Here, just use my phone."

Julius takes the sleek, unfamiliar device, fumbling with it. He presses the screen awkwardly. "What is this thing? No buttons? How am I supposed to—" Before he can finish, the phone slips from his hands and crashes to the ground with a loud thud. "Oh no! How much did that cost?"

The clerk groans, picking up his phone. "Don’t worry about it… It’s, like, a thousand bucks."

Julius blinks in disbelief. "A thousand dollars? For a phone?!" He mutters to himself, "That’s three months' rent back in my day."

Leaving the store with a bewildered look on his face, Julius spots a tram rolling by and decides to get on, hoping it might lead him closer to his family. When he approaches the driver, he digs in his pocket for change. "How much is the fare? Two dollars, right?"

The driver chuckles. "Mate, you need a Myki card. We don’t take coins anymore."

Julius, now even more confused, shakes his head. "A Myki what? Can’t I just pay cash?"

"Nope. Gotta get a card and top it up at a machine or online."

Julius rubs his temples. "Online? I just wanna get on a train!" He steps off, muttering to himself, "A card for a train ride? What’s next? Paying for air?"

Still determined to find answers, Julius heads into a nearby Woolworths. Walking down the aisles, his frugal instincts kick into overdrive. He picks up a carton of eggs and gasps. "Seven dollars for a dozen eggs? Are these chickens laying gold?" He hurries over to the milk section and nearly drops the carton. "Four fifty for milk? Who’s buying this, millionaires?"

He grabs a loaf of bread and checks the price. "Four dollars? For bread? This better last a month!" Julius continues through the aisles, getting more and more agitated. He snatches a pack of toilet paper and checks the price tag. "$10 for toilet paper? This stuff is literally going down the drain!"

Frustrated, he decides to check out Cole’s to see if the prices are any better. He walks into the store, determined. "Alright, let’s see if this place is any cheaper." Picking up a bag of flour, he glances at the price. "Six bucks for flour? You gotta be kidding me! Do I have to grow my own wheat now?"

As he checks the prices on various items—chicken, vegetables, snacks—he becomes more and more exasperated. "Everything here is double what it used to be! I don’t care if I’m in the future—this is highway robbery!"

Finally, he gives up and walks out of the store, muttering to himself, "Rochelle would lose her mind if she saw these prices. Ain’t no way I’m spending fifty dollars for a bag of groceries. I’m not even sure how I’m getting home, but first thing I need to do is find out where I am and figure out how to pay for a train!"

Julius stands on the street corner, hands on his hips, looking around at the futuristic world. "How am I supposed to survive in 2024 when a loaf of bread costs as much as a week’s groceries? And where’s my family?!"

McDonalds Mint Slice

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I feel like I'm going insane. Does anyone remember when McDonald's had mint slice? No one I ask seems to remember it. It was the best mint slice and I can't seem to find any information of it ley alone even images.

Can anyone help me find something on it so I know I'm not crazy!?

Why do Aussies pronounce ‘Graham’ as ‘Graeme’?

G’day my fellow Aussies,

I've noticed that many people here pronounce "Graham" as if it were "Graeme" – kind of like "Gray-um." But isn't "Graeme" its own distinct name with its own pronunciation? Shouldn't "Graham" be pronounced more like "Gra-ham" with two clear syllables?

Is this just a quirk of our Aussie accent, or is there more to it? Curious to hear your thoughts on why the two names are pronounced so similarly here!

Help Us Settle a $20 Bet: How Do You Hang Your Towels?

G'day everyone, I need some Aussie wisdom to settle a light-hearted debate with my partner. In our house, my partner has a specific way of doing things, and usually, I go along with her methods because they often make sense. However, we recently had a friendly disagreement about the proper way to hang towels, and now there's a $20 wager on the line.

Here's the situation: My partner insists that towels should be hung with the tags on the inside, so they're not visible.

Her reasoning is that you wouldn't wear clothes inside out with the tags showing, so why should towels be any different? Additionally, her perspective is, it has nothing much to do with the function of the towels but mostly to do with the presentation.

I, on the other hand, believe it doesn't matter whether the tags are in or out when you hang towels. My argument is that clothes are designed to be worn one way, with a specific function, but towels are versatile and can be used in any direction.

We can't seem to agree on this, so we're turning to the wisdom of our fellow Aussies. How do you hang your towels? Do the tags need to be inside, or does it not matter at all? Help us settle this debate and decide who gets the $20!

When figuring out the days of the month do you sing the song?

Both my 11 year old and 8 year old have never heard of the song. I'm in my 30s and still use the song when figuring out how many days in a month.

30 days has September, April, June, and November. All the rest have 31 except for February, which has 28 or 29 in a leap year 🎶
