Looking for a welder to do a small fabrication job.
Got plans at 7 tonight. Will be arriving in Ballarat at 3-4, what should we do in the meantime?
Hello fellow cold weather lovers.
Just wondering if anyone here has any recommendations on good fence builders in the Ballarat area.
Looking to get some old stuff replaced with timber palings and a retaining wall built.
I have a couple of bags of good quality clothes, mostly new with tags to donate but I’d like to donate to one that actually does good for locals. Vinnies and Salvos run like a full blown company and send better items off to other stores to charge more etc and I’d rather donate to one that’s fairly priced and doing good things. I’m not originally from here so I haven’t explored much but back in the day there used to be heaps of little community church op shops around run by old ladies and they were always really fairly priced.
Moved from Melbourne about 11 months ago and have had itchy skin from showering with the water here. Moved to a different suburb in Ballarat recently and it’s gotten significantly worse. Only thing that helps is taking a colder shower somewhat. Never happened in Melbourne, hence why I am pinning it down to Ballarat water. Has anyone else had issues? Is it highly chlorinated water?
Does anybody know a place or a person that takes dresses up? My daughters dress is too long for summer and I have some clothing that needs repairs but mainly the dress I can't find anywhere and I'd be more than happy to pay.
Hey all, has anyone ever dealt with Goldfish Real Estate or know anyone that has?
The agent seemed lovely just haven’t heard much of them compared to your typical Buxton, Jellis Craig, Ray White, Ballarat Real Estate etc
Would love to hear what anyone has to say :)
I feel like hooning and wreckless driving is out of control in Ballarat. There are many nights (and early mornings) where I hear people tearing around in their cars, I see people doing burnouts in broad daylight. It's only a matter of time before there is a major accident.
Does anyone know if this is on the Council's or Police's radar and if anything is being done to clamp down on it?
Staying in ballarat in sebastopol for a few nights and every night i have noticed a really bad smell out the front and back of the house and down the street it smells like farts and gas and a bit smokey? hard to explain… is this normal?

Hey folks
Ex-ballarat citizen here, back in Ballarat later this month for work for at least 12 months.
Just wondering if anyone knows of meditation groups etc that meet weekly or often enough,. preferably during the week.
I had an amazing group years ago that met weekly and was only a gold coin donation. The group unfortunately disbanded after the main guy running it moved up to QLD.
I took a chance on a flyer on the notice board of Eastwood st Woolies years ago that had a strong vibe of Hare Krishnas and.. turned out to be hare Krishnas.
Nothing against em but not looking to learn or adopt doctrines here, just purely wanting to practise and learn more about meditation as a tool.
Happy to be out of pocket for a good teacher and something that feels like good value for money.
Anyway.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Hello everyone,
posted this story here before but in short we recently discovered after moving here that my long term partner (from Adelaide) is the great-great-great-great granddaughter of the man who first found gold here (John Dunlop).
Anyways, I’m planning to pop the question next year and thought it’d be a nice gesture to have the ring band made from Ballarat-mined gold. The jeweler I am going with has agreed to allowing me to source my own gold so now it’s just about finding it!
Any locals happen to have any leads?
Thanks so much!
I hear a noise around 10:30pm lastnight and don’t check it cause I have work in the morning, I go out at 5am to check to see somebody blind drunk had smashed into all the bins from our units (that’s out for bin day) and now rubbish has been thrown across 2 driveways and parking worth
Does anyone have any advice on why the phone service around the lake is so bad? It seems from College right through to Loreto etc is a complete dead zone?
Hi everyone, our fam (2a, 3c) are looking to relocate from SA. Hopefully we'll find a place (any areas to avoid?) and settle in before the New Year or just after. Have been looking online, seems to be everything we need; schools, a daycare we've 'toured' and love, woolies/Kmart, the gym we're members at, etc. Plus a decent amount of jobs we can both apply for, while we consider whether to resume our business.
I'd love to know some local tips, what's dining out like, fun things to do with kids (aged 3-14), is there a Sunday fruit & veg market? Any good spots for a game of pool? We love getting outdoors as a family, don't mind a bit of camping, and definitely a foodie family (I ran a kitchen in another life).
We've only ever been through Ballarat on road trips so can't say we know the town much, but we're all looking forward to the move 😊
Hi, I'm hoping to find cleaner (preferably female) for myself along with 5 other friends here. Any recommendations?
Avoid Vickers St today if you can. The club is up in flames, at least six fire trucks on site so far. Not under control yet.
I have black wavy/curly hair and I've been looking for a place to get caramel coloured highlights, but everyone who I've been asking either doesn't remember the place they got theirs or didn't get them in Ballarat. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!
Looking for any advice on what places around Ballarat may be open for Christmas Day dinner/tea?
Plenty of options for lunch but struggling to find anywhere that might be doing something in the evening?
Cheers!
A single bollard placed either side will not help much stopping vehicles driving up these footpaths. Kerb is pretty low too, easily surmountable by larger vehicles.
My point is, it's a waste. If you're gonna do something - do it properly instead of wasting money, time and materials.
Thank you for letting me rant, have a lovely week.
Hi, just trying to calculate my gas costs. What's the current heating value of gas in your bills in postcodes 3350/3355? Tia
As a newcomer to Ballarat, I’ve noticed a few smaller boat sheds around the lake that seem rarely used—possibly privately owned. I’ve also spotted a recent new (boat shed) build. Does anyone know more about these smaller sheds?
I’m also curious about the ice cream tram kiosk near the botanical gardens. It’s interesting that the council has allowed only one business to operate in such a busy, touristy area. I understand it often quieter during the week but wouldn’t it be better to have a few more food vendors there to offer more options, especially for the health conscious? Pipers is nice for its location and charm but I reckon this end of the lake could do with a lot more in terms of good food and perhaps coffee too.
From memory, Ballarat had a show day holiday instead of Melbourne Cup public holiday. Is this still the case?
Looking to get my ears pierced in a large size is there anyone in Ballarat or the surrounding area who can do large gauge ear piercings?
Hello all!
Looking for a large rural billboard for a photography project. Seeking something isolated and rural.
Dm any suggestions please.
Thank you!
