Hi All,
New to fishing here.
I always wanted to fish and have decided to take it on !!
I was wondering if there are any good places to fish in Sydney? Preferably quiet and accessible places? From YouTube I saw that places like Woronora river or other areas of the Georges River have fish but are not recommended to eat, however I would like to eat the fish I catch. Are there any fishing spots close to the Georges river which edible fish (because I live near there). Also other spots all over Sydney is also fine.
What bait is recommended ? I see a lot of people use these artificial bait. Before, when I was little I used to use some old shrimp to fish but there was barely any catches.
Also what time is the best time to catch fish?
Are there other things I should attach to my fishing pole? I recall that I used to use this little metal ball before. Is that any good? Should I use something else?
Thanks !!
After a rod for an older Stradic 3000F ci4. Want a 1 piece 7 foot rod for some shallow beach fishing with bait/plastic. I had a look at the AAS-70, seems a good buy. Wanted to ask if anyone has a similar setup/if you're happy with the purchase. Have only had Shimano in the past. Cheers
Could someone explain to me the differences and benefits of Pg (Power Gear), Hg (High Gear) and Xg (Extra High Gear) in fishing reels and which is best for each style of fishing?
Hi i recently started freshwater fishing. And caught a carp. I know for good reason they aren't supposed to let off. So I dispatched them and toss back in the water(law said not alive but no mentioning dead). Could they be used as cut bait and perhaps use their carcass as berly for future fishing? I heard rumour that they make good saltwater bait. On that note might as well ask about dead mosquito fish
Beginner fisherman here, always gone fishing with very experienced people who have always set up and had the know how on what to do. Heading to the Colo River this weekend looking on some advice for what to set up and fish for?
Other times I will be fishing in and around Sydney harbour due to close proximity. Been using soft plastics but having no luck, any advice also?

Iβm fishing in estuary mainly targeting bream, whiting, flathead
G'day everyone!
Recently moved close to the Glenelg River and I'm keen to have a crack at some bream around the lower stretch (Donovans to Nelson). Never targeted bream before so was just wondering what people typically use bait or lure wise for black bream? Is there any other sneaky tips people have for fishing for them? Any help appreciated!
Anyone have some reel recmendations between 350 -450. No vanfords prefer diawa. please include more than 1.
Also polarised sunglasses under 100 .
Seeing him zoom up from the depths to smash a surface lure was very exciting,as was the fight and the sketchy scramble down the rocks once I realised he was too heavy to lift with the rod.
I am a terrible photographer, but he measured 52cm.
Hi everyone,
I have recently inherited a good amount of fishing gear from a friend who has since passed away.
I am a total beginner but am enjoying learning about everything.
I know newbies are easy targets for harsh criticism, and the internet can be cruel, so if this is a dumb question please take it easy on me.
I am beginning to learn about different types of rigs and their applications. I want to switch out rigs quickly, so I am looking for an alternative to cutting and retying each time.
I was thinking of attaching a snap swivel to my main line and a bead just behind it to protect my rod tip.
I can then pre-make all my different rigs and switch them out quickly by clipping the swivel from my leaders to the snap on my main line.
Vice versa, I could also attach a regular swivel to my main line and a snap to the leader. The result would be the same... right?
I can't see how this is a bad idea, but please enlighten me, as I am here to learn.
Thanks, Anglers!
I am keen to fish, did it maybe 2 or 3 times as an adult and only caught something once.
I have no idea where to start. I am fairly savvy and pick things up quickly, I can cast well and I'm good with knots.
General tips would be great with specific q's below:
Thanks everyone
Edit: located in Perth
How can I find spots with carp in them and how can I work out where they stay? Thanks
I'll be going fishing over to Queenscliff in 2 weeks time. Any tips on the area? Pretty new to fishing so it'd be good to know best species to target. I've looked in FishingMad but I'd like to know what people who've been there think. Thanks.
Me and my buddies have recently got into fishing in the past month or so, mostly targeting bream and salmon, no freshwater. I was wondering if anyone from Adelaide knew any less known spots where we might have better luck. Or any advice fishing common fish we find here. Mainly getting little bream and putting em back. For lures we mainly use Zman or the Berkley 2.5 inch grubs and my friend has a weird obsession with double clutches even though he gets nothing. Any help would be appreciated whether itβs about spots or how to fish common spots and what not. love you guys π
Has anyone fished Booloumba creek in Kenilworth. Camping there next weekend and keen to try some fishing. Very inexperienced so any tips would be appreciated
