Swimming Holes around Tamworth

I’m visiting Tamworth with a friend for the Country Music festival in January. Wondering if there’s any swimming holes or waterfalls within an hour drive? Google Maps isn’t returning any results.

RSA Help

I need help with this question. I only have one attempt left.

You have been working for 2 hours and notice John, a local businessman, has been at the bar drinking rapidly since you started. You notice John is becoming louder as he speaks. He has not left the bar stool or ordered any food or non-alcoholic beverages.

From this scenario, list 2 early indicators that this drinking pattern could lead to intoxication if you don't intervene.

I need some help to see if I can drive an Iveco on my red p's

I've been doing some research with my partner whether or not I can drive an IVECO daily07 50c18 2009 model on my red p's. A lot of posts and sites we've been on say that Iveco vans are considered mini trucks, but It has Van on the rego papers. I don't want to run the risk of losing my license when working (to be a bit clearer, the van is for the family business) Apologise if this is a dumb question but I don't want my license being taken

Nurses are leaving the state

8 of 10 NSW nurses are thinking of leaving the state for better pay and conditions across the border. NSW nurses are the lowest paid in the country. Please sign this petition so parliament will discuss better and conditions for them.

HSC COURSE ADVICE!

I’m in year 12 currently. Last year I took English, advanced maths, legal studies compressed, and chemistry. This year (I’m only 2 weeks in) I’ve dropped chemistry, gone down to standard maths (even though I did quite well in the course), and taken on compressed economics and compressed physics. So this year I’m doing English, standard maths, compressed economics, and compressed physics. My class is doing compressed business, and if I’m quick I have the option to do drop compressed physics and do compressed business. Do you guys think I’m okay to do physics? Especially compressed, I don’t know if I’m capable. I kind of flunked chemistry (84) but never rlly studied cause I wasn’t interested in it at all. Starting physics it’s pretty difficult but I LOVE the subject so much. I also love maths advanced but it’s too late to continue it. Anyway I’m just wondering if I should keep doing physics or drop it and do compressed business instead, which might be better cause yk I’m doing compressed economics and they are similar so it might be easier. How were the subjects for you guys?

Had my plates stolen and have to pay for the replacement

Fuck this state government. Fuck the police. Fuck the cunt that stole my plates. My cat is at the vet for a minimum of $800, I settle on my first home in two weeks, and now I have to pay $200 for fucking new plates. I’m so angry.

ETA:

I genuinely think the government should wear the cost. If they can’t find who stole them and force them to pay, that’s a problem for them, it shouldn’t be a problem for me. If I’m legally required to have plates on my car and they are stolen, I don’t think it’s fair I have to wear the cost. I understand this creates a gap between people who would want to change their plates and would illegally report them as stolen to skirt paying, but again I think the government should wear the cost regardless of those who would circumvent paying.

$150 is nothing to the state government, but it’s a huge amount of money to me right before Christmas, and I can’t be driving around without plates, I need to get to work and there’s no public transport in this area.

To be perfectly honest, I can see the logic behind charging people to replace stolen plates, it just really fucking stings right now and I just want to be mad about it for a little while. It just feels like a slap in the face to be a victim of a crime and then have to pay to amend the situation.

If they had stolen my wiper blades I could live without them for a few weeks. If they had stolen the whole car I’d get an insurance payout. But because they stole the license plates, I’m out $150. Just feels unfair.

But as everyone knows, myself included, life is unfair.

Sorry for the rant, it’s just been an incredibly frustrating year. $150 on plates really isn’t that big of a deal, I know that, but I just feel like I keep being kicked in the guts over and over again with small shit like this and I’ve had enough.

Anyway, the house is definitely a good thing and a highlight of the year, the problem with the plates has been fixed, and my cat appears to be on the mend.

Thanks for the perspective. Just had to work through that.

Jervis Bay Intersection / Highway Upgrade - Is Bigger always better?

https://thebuglenewspaper.com.au/NewsStory/progress-update-on-jervis-bay-road-interchange/672aae70ffd84a002d210bd6

So the Member for Kiama (the one who showed up sans pants to parliament last month) is super spruiking this cluster fork of high way "upgrade" through Jervis Bay. South of Nowra.

Technically I think this is Liza Butler's region but it's nice to see her neighbouring rep taking the credit for her - what a gent that Gareth! But besides the polls singing its praises ....

and YES YES YES we need safe roads and that intersection in particular needed a traffic flow solution. A solution that had a lot of other options short of the proposed $164 million that will surely blow out to more. A staggered or - SMART light perhaps - or a basic fly over vs this 3 roundabout plus 4 lane flyover - over design option? Civil Engineers - please tell me I'm wrong and why you should over build?

and Yes I am a cynic - so with a grain of salt... my POV is that In other places that I've lived, when I saw excessive public works like this, invariably 5-10 years later it comes out that the tender was flawed or someone's (ahem, pollies/adjacents) family business got obscenely rich. I clearly missed the community meeting on this project. Am I the only one that thinks it too much? Did any one go to the community meetings?

The plans has "concepts of" a transportation hub in place but those were not confirmed.

I'm still holding out hope that in the very least, we get our own Giant Statue and we get a 10 storey whale sitting in one of those roundabouts post-upgrade. I'll probably need to start a go-fund me to that part of the project tho! ; - ).

Have a look at some of the plans and videos on here https://www.felix.net/project-news/major-works-to-begin-on-164m-jervis-bay-road-intersection-project

Please push back - tell me this is progress and I'm missing some part of a bigger (non-dodgy) picture? ....

Again, we needed SOMETHING FIXED at that intersection - no argument on the need for an upgrade but just no understanding of why it needed to be over designed vs smartly solved.

Owning up to 5-6 dogs in NSW.

Hi all, I have a question about dog ownership, specifically for owning up to 5 to 6 dogs. I read in an article a while back that in NSW there's not really a limit to how many dogs you can legally own compared to other Aussie states and I also read that some people and families own up to 5-6 dogs. I'm curious if this actually is the case and if so, how do people take care of that many dogs (general costs like pet food, pet insurance, vet bills etc) and if there is some sort of approval process they had to go through with the local council? I'd assume that this would usually only be possible if you own your own property as I know landlords can be very strict with their rental properties. If there is anyone who does own this many dogs I'd be interested to know what your experience has been like.

Question about learners logbook.

Hi guys. Was just wondering about the learners log book. So with trip details am I allowed to put something like ___ to __ and back to ___ (like multiple suburbs in one) or just one place to another. I’ve done it weirdly. I’m at 80 hours and it wasn’t until someone called it out that I’ve been wondering if it’s allowed? So to explain it easier I write down my K’s and the starting time. A lot of the time I’m dropping kids off to school so I do multiple suburbs in one and then when I’m back home I put the end time and end K’s.

What are the best unlimited data plans for international students?

Hello everyone!

I live in Sweden and I’m going to move to Sydney to study a course in electrotechnology electrician at a trade school. I use my phone a lot and I was wondering if anyone can give me guidance on what the best mobile operators are and how much it will cost to have an unlimited data plan without the speed cap?

How should we design HSR/Fast Rail between Melbourne and Sydney?

I'm kind of a transport nerd so I was making a rail map, and wanted opinions on how I should construct my High Speed Rail/Fast Rail line between Wagga Wagga and Sydney. The image shows a main line which travel more directly, and a 2nd route for trips to Canberra and/or Wagga Wagga. What do you think?

Far-Western Towns

We live in Sydney and want to travel to far-western NSW to stay for a few nights - towards Broken Hill but it doesn't need to be that far.

Are there any nice little towns way out west to stay for a long weekend?

Edit: The purpose is just to holiday in a small town somewhere quite a bit far from the hustle and bustle of Sydney

We were considering Lightning Ridge initially. Is that town any good?

Please feel welcome to share anything you think might be helpful. I'm a 21m (kinda alt looking, dyed hair, piercings, etc) so would I go alright there? Also looking to make friends and connect while studying.

Underage at Club

Does anyone know what happens if you get caught using your friends ID and the they get your details, take the licence and say their gonna tell the cops. Has this happened to anyone and if so what happened to you. I’ve seen the consequences online but I’m not sure if they’d realistically be that harsh, espesh if neither of us have a criminal record.🙏

Cat pee smell in rental house carpet for first time renters in Sydney, property manager not responding

I just moved my wife and kids (toddlers 2.5 and 4y.o) to Australia and got an apartment rental in Sydney. I'm offshore and will join them in December. The house we found has a smell which we thought was post cleaning smell, though it persisted and we got a professional cleaner to deep clean the carpets, thinking the carpet wasn't cleaned well. The professional cleaner informed us it's cat pee, he actually found cat fur in the carpet and from experience he could tell its previous tenant who had a cat. We had mentioned of the smell in the condition report and now we have also emailed citing this professional view, though we are not getting response so far. The kids are reacting to the smell. It's a new country for us and totally lost on what to do. What options do we have?

2 Nights in Sydney this Weekend

Hey everyone!

I’m visiting Sydney this week for work, and I’m planning to stay back for a couple of days just to explore and see the city.

I’m a 26 year old male, and I’ve booked 2 nights at YHA Sydney Harbour. I saw a few good reviews online and thought I’d go for it. But just wanted to know if anyone here has had any experience staying there, primarily regarding meeting people and activities (if they offer any).

I would also really appreciate any suggestions on places to see and food to try. I would also be open to meeting a few people, and would love to explore the city with some locals, if possible.

PS : I’ve booked a mixed sharing room!

Thanks in advance!
