is attending the faculty welcome day worth it? do you make a lot of friends there, or is it okay to skip?
do they take attendance? the 10 am slot is already sold out, so i couldn't get a spot, and i can't make it to the 9:30 am one. i was wondering if i could still join the 10 am session, or could i be a bit late and join the ongoing 9:30 one?
Hello! I am an upcoming student for the LLM programme, August intake. Current international LLM students, what has been your experience applying for clerkships and part-time jobs? What companies hire international students as paralegal/ part time workers/ clerkship candidates? I am on a student visa so i am aware I can only work for 20 hours a week
For some context, I hadn't studied any math in 5 years (since high school) and was super rusty coming in so I am curious if anyone else has been in a similar position to me.
I got a passing mark in MATH1A, and although I only slept 3 hours the night before (realised this is a terrible idea for exams that require more reasoning, I had done this for computing subjects and aced them), I am thinking of repeating MATH1A as it is a foundational unit, and the multivariable calc with my mark/knowledge is intimidating.
With good sleep I think my mark could've gone up between 10-20 points, which I still don't think is good enough as I was a high achiever in high school, and I want to learn as deeply as possible.
For anyone thats been a similar position and struggled with MATH1A getting a pass or credit, were any of you able to get a HD in MATH1B? Or is it a reasonable decision to do MATH1A again.
Is CSP something you can apply for mid course.
I applied for a postgrad that wasnt my top priority and got a CSP offer
However later i got accepted my desired course however without CSP. Is this something i can try to get later down the line if i do really well in my exams for the first few units?
Hi,
Always wondered what it was like to go on exchange as a USYD student. Have never really seriously considered it, but with my degree progressing, I've wondered:
Is it worth the experience (if so what countries did people enjoy)
Is it better to go for a Semester of over a break (and how does this affect the degree)
How much $$$
What year in uni/stage in degree is best to go
I'm an Engineering/Finance student, if that helps give context. If you guys have any specific programs/ bits of advice for applying as well, that'll help a lot.
Thanks.
wondering what the affiliate/associate programs are like and if they are actually worth it. looking at st johns, andrews, sancta sophia and womens as those are the only ones ive found so far. are they also rly religious? idm as im also christian but not very devout
What have you guys found the most efficient? Thinking between OneNote and Goodnotes!
I’m an international student commencing in February, currently packing hahaha. Anyway, is there any attire for presentations?
In my country, we have to wear formal attire/formal office attire for presentations. Is it similar at USyd? Thanks!
This will be my first year at Uni, and I'm currently enrolled in Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Biomedical Engineering) and Bachelor of Science (Medical Science). Any insight into this degree will be appreciated. I was very lost on what I want to study (and still am), but I think I've settled on this degree. I did bio, chem, math ext 1 for my hsc if that is useful. I also have an offer for Bachelor of Design in Architecture (Honours) and Master of Architecture in USYD, I do think biomedical is a better degree, but if there are different opinions please inform me. Here are some questions I have:
Since all the orientation tours are booked, and the website didn't let me waitlist, can I still go on the day, or any other day with my friend to find our own way, or is access not allowed?
Any other welcome events recommended for me to attend based on my degree (I'm a girl if that's relevant)?
When are Semester 1 exams held and how long do they last? I need to book a holiday and am still confused on when exams end and when Semester 2 starts? Are exams also assessments or mainly assignments?
What should I bring, as in supplies (notebooks, pens, calculator etc.) I'm also on campus 4 days a week, 3 of them are basically 8-5, anything I should bring with me based on that?
I have a macbook air from 4 years ago and it's still fine, a tiny bit of lag but nothing much. Do I buy a new macbook or would buying an Ipad be more useful based on my degree, or is there really no need for anything new?
I'm majoring in Medical Science, and Biomedical Modelling and Design, what careers should I accept, are they in demand, good salary, etc.?
Is this degree male or female dominated?
are tutorials more important than lectures, and is it acceptable if I miss some of them, and are all classes available online?
Is train the best mode of transport to get there, I can catch a metro to epping and then a train, or are buses better than trains?
Thanks
I’ve been looking all over the internet and have contacted multiple agencies as well, but no one seems to have apartments in a similar range around uni. Either that, or the apartments have a waitlist or are extremely competitive(too many applicants). is there a particular site that you guys would recommend me to check out?
do I really need to attend a single dotted lecture on my day? or can i just listen to recordings later?
Im trying to upload my student id image but the fuckass website isnt letting me upload my own photos, any idea why? I took my photo on an iphone 15 pro so could it be the sizing or resolution?
I was working on an application for a masters program but I didn't submit it and now it won't let me, the system only lets me save it. Is is impossible to have it considered for semester 1 of 2025 now?
Currently about to start 2nd year of my secondary education degree but got accepted into the new Bachelor of Media and Communications with all my credit points approved for a reduced study load…
Should I stay in education as it has a definite outcome of a job (although it’s not a versatile degree) or should I do media and comms with endless job possibilities (although rather competitive)????
Pls hell
What is the difference between these computer network courses?
Hi! I bought an ipad M4 because I don’t want to carry my chunky laptop around for lectures. How about for exams? Is there any incompatibility issues wherein ipads cannot open certain portals or sites? I heard that there are app blockers during exams and will the ipad able to function with that? I’m an incoming nursing student btw, thanks in advance!!
My classes are too far from each other and I’m quite lazy
I'm a commencing student this year and would like to possibly join the EU (Evangelical Union). Could anyone tell me more about it? I have read the website but was curious to hear from people's experiences and more about the small groups and other related information.
I am hoping to meet new friends if I join and be able to learn from the Bible with others.
hi guys, i’m moving into scape quay soon for a semester and just wanted to ask if anyone had any thoughts or experiences about the culture, the facilities or anything at all that you wish to share about scape quay!
i’m pretty new to campus accommodation and applied pretty late so this was one of the few options left for me. i’ll be staying in a 6 bedroom apt if it matters. thanks!

Hello! I know biol1008 (human biology) isn't a pre-requisite for phsi2007 (key concepts of physiology) but it is assumed knowledge. I was wondering if anyone else here has done this before can offer advice on what I can do in preparation. Thank you so much!
is the now booked out welcome ceremony useful?
I completed my Bachelor of Psychology at Macquarie University, and I will be doing my degree part-time. I'm mostly concerned about the differences in writing styles and study methods. I hope to work soon, and am wondering about the most efficient method for studying for someone completely new to law subjects.
No one cares…
You have bad hair no one cares You are 5 minutes late no one cares You ask a question and raise your hand and people look at you… wait a minute no one cares You are asked to introduce yourself to the people around you and you start to get flushed and nervous and can’t think of what to say no one cares and if in doubt talk about the weather or some shit You whip out your laptop and it is out of charge or you realise you are in the wrong room no one cares
If you don’t get it by now.. NO ONE CARES this isn’t high school people, people have genuine shit going on and couldn’t give a rats ass about some rando falling over or being in the wrong class. The MOST people will ever say or think is “mood” or “I wish I wasn’t here” not “omg Becky just dropped her notebook oMg tehehehehehehe I’m gonna Snapchat this”
And plus you might talk to one person in the class the whole semester and then poof it’s all gone, trust me next year you’ll be seeing these messages flow through on reddit and reminisce about how dumb you were by getting all nervous over your first day
Hi, has anyone received an offer for psyc honours this year? I'm in the embedded hons program and haven't heard anything yet. Offers were meant to come out late January I believe... please lmk if you have/ haven't heard back!
