I have international driving license and I want to change to Australia license. I passed theory test in SA and got temporary driving permit for 3 months. I didn’t finish practical test yet and need to move to Darwin very soon. I would like to know whether I need to sit for the theory test again or not. And how about practical test? Are there any recommendations for good instructor and what is the usual price for that? Thanks for your help.
Hey, was wondering if any1 knows a study cafe thats open 24/7? I've noticed that a lot of businesses dont actually put themselves on google. The only places i know about are the cdu libraries and public libraries. The CDU ones aren't available for those who don't have a card after manned hours and the public ones are zoos 90% of the time... TIA
My time in Darwin has been worthwhile and what has started as a holiday has ended up being a new life which I've been grateful for since it feels more easy going and genuine compared to down south. I am just concerned if I spend too much time here if there's the chance of permanently succumbing to mango madness all year round hahaha. Been here in Darwin for roughly a year now, but can't help but noticed middle-aged to boomer folks up here coming across as a bit cooked in the head compared to down south.
I apologise if this initailly came off as offensive, just wanna get some insight from youse who've been here longer than I have.
Cheers
I've been in Darwin for a week now trying different cafe, but with only 2 days left wanted to make sure I visit the best ones.
If I want to collect my parcel from the depot, where should I go? I put my address down on their website and no collection point shown up.
What's the best Pub TAB to sit and enjoy the Melbourne Cup race day.
Not keen on whatever is happening at casino beach.
Cheers
Hi folks, My unit complex is with Whittles. Whittles are shit and have proven this yet again in recent weeks. I’m after recommendations for a new body corporate agency.
An agency called Ace have come up, wondering on thoughts of this one too.
Thanks!
Looking to see if any places do a Cajun or similar type crab boil in darwin?
I'm looking to move to Darwin and thinking about eventually buying a house in the northern suburbs. I've come across the storm surge inundation map on the NT government website and I'm not sure how much I should factor that into decisions about houses. I've lived in Darwin before but I've never experienced a cyclone, so I'm curious about what locals think. The map shows houses next to Rapid Creek and on the west side of Nightcliff and Coconut Grove being at risk. It's based on projections of sea levels in 2100 so I don't know how relevant it is in 2024. Should I be worried about buying a house in that area?
Hi everyone, I have just moved to Darwin and am here until early February
I have a few days off before I start work and am trying to plan stuff
However, I am finding the heat a bit much. As per my weather app there is a bit of a heatwave and usual temperatures this time of year are usually a bit lower. But I talked to one or two people who said this is pretty normal and to not expect it to get any cooler
My question is, is the weather going to get any cooler and I should wait to do more outdoorsy things until then. Or should I just suck it up because this is just how life is here?
Hi, I'm relocating to Darwin soon and really curious about the asian communities in Darwin. Is there a lot of us there and if there is, where do they concentrate in? Thank you!
This is for those tin foil hat people. Note shadows directly under trees and car. But no shadow being thrown by a purely vertical pole.
You can see the sun lighting the top of pole but the sides of the pole are darker and there is now shadow cast by the pole.
Wanna see some suggestions for places to eat. A bunch of us like to go out, eat, drink and have fun. Looking for the funkier places Darwin/ Palmo areas. If there's somewhere close to go after eating to dance to some live music would be great. Cheers all.
Okay just gotta say,
As someone from QLD who has travelled through most of QLD there are so many round abouts in Darwin it almost drives me mad.
Forrest parade has about 8 alone.
Chung was Terrace now around about 5.
Even worse is that no one seems to know how to use or properly indicate around a round-about either.
I just a winge because I hate round-abouts. I understand that the way the roads are designed kind of makes them necessary though.
Seems like a big budget take on Yellowstone set in the NT about Cattle stations.
But it's more like Yellow stone meets Summer bay
I'm 2 episodes In and... yea it's a tough watch. The story is ok, but their take on the Territory is kinda off. Everytime you think they are getting close to getting something right they suddenly miss the mark, seemingly to pander to an American audience.
Im not a Ringer, never worked on a cattle station, and my accumulated time I've ever been on stations is probably measured in weeks if not days, but I have mates who do and from how they are and from what the stories they've shared it just doesn't mesh with what's on screen, so would like to hear from people actually in that life who've seen the show.
Hi
For those that haven’t seen it before. Go out and have a look at the lack of shadows from poles etc. best seen with bollards, fence posts, even you.
Obviously under trees and overhangs there will be shadows. But there will be no shadows thrown sideways.
The sun will be essentially directly overhead, not north or south of Darwin.
Also if you have a compass you can use these dates to check that it’s true as the sun rise and sunset will be perfectly east - west.
Touted as a “pub for the whole community”, construction of Parkside Bistro is due to commence in the new year which a opening date of sometime in October 2025 to meet its licensing conditions.
Residents of Zuccoli, particularly those who will now be living within a stones throw of this venue, what is everyone’s thoughts on this being built?
Another pub is also planned for Zuccoli Plaza, but the two developers are in a battle over the pokie licenses…
My friend needs to get some boots resoled.
Does anyone know where I can get a stamp making kit? (Carving) Or "denied" or "rejectef stamps?

Has anybody else in Lyons or an opticomm area experienced the same? Isp reports no faults (Im with Aussie Broadband) Its very strange as i never had any up until now. Thanks.
Hi there! My husband and I are moving to Darwin next year in Feb for work and are starting to think about rentals. We would like to stay in an apartment complex. Only thing is we have a well-behaved 4 year old cat. Currently renting and should have a good reference. How easy is it to find good accommodation with a pet and any tips for how to go about finding a rental? Thanks in advance ☺️
Just heard from some insiders that Katie Woolf is taking up a position as a senior media advisor at the start of next year, can anyone confirm or deny if this is true?
Start a new job next Monday at a wholesale plant supplier. MRHR driving and general labourer. I've not needed work boots for years. Comfort and steel cap will be needed. Thanks all for any input.
I’m wondering if anyone around this age knows anyone who had successfully joined the NT police. I have a BA in politics and have completed 4 years of Law school but want to finish that off part-time in the future.
I’m looking to apply but just want to know if they’ll likely disregard my application due to perceived lack of life experience. Any help appreciated.
Looking to buy a Mitsubishi and wanted some feedback on people's experience up here. Sort of concerned about servicing for warranty etc as it looks like DMG run it?
What have your experiences be?
You know those amazing sticky stuffed-with-prawny-goodness chicken wings that you can get at Parap markets, can you get them at Mindil? Asking for a friend
