It’s just unrelenting my aircons can’t even handle the heat, starting to hate this place because of how ridiculously hot it is here and no one else in the rest of Australia seems to understand because they’ve never been here
I dine in so that I don’t kill the environment with single use cups. The new thing at floras temper, nightcliff, is that every drink comes in take away during the week. Please say something against this if you’re pro environment. Thank you.
Hi, recently moved here bought a car and cant get it registered because didn’t get a rental yet living in airbnb, MVR is not transferring ownership of car because of no proof of residency and my car REGO is about to expire what should I do?
Hey folks of the top end. I’m traveling with a group to Darwin for a couple weeks right now, and looking for things to do. We’ve heard the wet season keeps many places closed until after the time we leave. So where can we go for outdoor adventures that’s actually open to people during the next couple weeks, or places that are worth driving to even if not as official as Litchfield?
For context: we’re staying at a hotel in downtown Darwin.
Howdy!
Whats it like getting a job in Darwin? I’m a Marketing Specialist with Comms experience and certification in Project Management looking to move from NZ for a new experience and an adventure!
I’ve started reaching out to recruiters but haven’t received any response, so I thought I’d ask here to learn any tips or tricks you may have!
Thanks in advanced!

All yous baristas are amazing, thanks for making all our ridiculously particular coffees day in and day out.
Special shout out to the Chico Loco ute on the Stuart Hwy, both of you guys make a mean large long black. I'm always relieved to see the big green dot when I come around the corner.
To the cafes who use paper lids, I completely disapprove. Please rectify this dreadful coffee culture faux pas forthwith.
I do have one simple request for all of you, when you put the lid on, please put the cup seam at the back so coffee doesn't leak out on my shirt.
Thanks all and have a fantastic caffeinated Friday and weekend.
Curious. I own an 1970s elevated house. It’s 1200sqm, tropical garden, large saltwater pool. I rent out the upstairs and live in the granny flat downstairs. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms, still has its original louvres, jarrah floorboards etc but there’s new kitchen, bathroom, large back verandah. What’s the market rent?
EDIT Sorry, I don’t want to sell. I’m curious what the market value is to rent the 3 bedrooms upstairs.
Went to a shithole on Priest Cct, they wanted 500+ and the lawn was overgrown and the whole place generally a mess, around the corner for inspection and the house hadn’t been cleaned, beer bottles and caps in every room, and poo on the toilet floor! Another house in woodroffe and the agent didn’t even turn up. And an inspection in Fannie bay and the agent couldn’t get in the front gate. wtf is is going on, how is anyone supposed to rent one of your overpriced dumps if you can’t clean or turn up!?
Anyone in Darwin with dogs that has liver problems? I have about about 3-4kg of Royal Canin Hepatic kibbles to give away.
We recently took our dogs to the vet to get a blood test for their livers and the results for both are better now so we are taking them off the Hepatic kibbles.
You're welcome to come and pick them up from my place in Tiwi 0810.
Is it just me or Chemist Warehouse has just become very expensive now. 30 dollars for a 200-tablet vit b complex now. 😩
There will be three separate course options that will suit you and your team: two on foot- 5 hr Meander and 3 hr Mini and one on bikes, the 4hr Mash. MTBs are best, given that there will be controls on the southern side of the course in mostly natural terrain and gravel tracks.
The date for a Mosey Monsoon Miler Urban Rogaine is Saturday, 22nd February 2025

Gosh, it is deadly silent in Palmerston tonight.
I'm terrified of flying, and I usually have a couple of beers to calm the nerves. My flight is at 01:00 so the airport bar looks like it will be closed. I'm flying virgin from Darwin to Tasmania via Melbourne. I don't need to take anything on the plane, I just want to know if they'll let me bring a couple of cans through security so I can have a drink while I'm waiting to board? Appreciate the advice. If I'm going down, I don't plan to go down sober.
Cheers
Just moved up from down south….where are the green (garden) waste bins?
Has anyone had any bad experiences there or know how safe it is? Latest I'll be out there is probably 10pm.
Is there any site that lists all trivia/music or anything going on around the city?
Looking for anything on tonight and finding it difficult. I know Friday is usually less popular for running events as it's busy anyways but just wondering if there is a good site or what do people use.

Hi all,
Just a question, possible relocation from south east Queensland to Darwin in 2-3 months time.
We have a 7/5 and 3.5 year old.
Our 3 yo is turning 4 in May and was is due to start Kindy this year with the potential of doing 2 years as he is a May baby and I would preferably like him to start actual schooling (prep, not sure if it’s called that there) when he is turning 6.
I think from what I’ve researched is that it’s called Pre school in Darwin. Do they start when they are turning 4 aswell? And do you have the option to do 2 years so they can be 6 when starting school school?
Also last year QLD introduced free kindy fees for the foreseeable future, is this across the board nationally or does pre school have fees?
Sorry one more thing, I sent my other two girls to a community kindy (so not one ran by a daycare centre) and it was a 5 day fortnight. Does Darwin also have a similar system?
If someone could please help me understand the structure or point me in the right direction for a beautiful pre school/kindy it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!!
Does anyone happen to know if anywhere in Darwin (or surrounding) sells kosciuszko pale ale on tap?
I've tried google!
Ever noticed in your bank statements that Big W at Casuarina is recorded as Big W Thrower rd instead of Trower rd?
Hi there - 30F, planning on visiting Darwin in May for the first time solo from Adelaide! Have always wanted to visit. Need some help for the following:
- Accommodation - I've been looking at staying in a hostel - because they're cheap and I'd also like to meet some other fellow travellers. Is there one that's generally considered good?
- Hire car - I am looking at hiring a car during my stay - do you think that's a better option or should I book one of those tours that take tourists to see all the sights? I'd be looking at hiring a small hatch since it's just going to be me.
- Must sees - what are some of the places/things that I'd see for sure? So far I am looking at doing the jumping croc tour (I LOVE CROCS), Katherine Gorge, The Mindil beach markets and grabbing some dinner there and maybe Kakadu.
Please come at me with all your suggestions. Cannot wait to visit your beautiful city!!
