I'm a local PhD student studying through the University of Newcastle and I am looking for research participants.

The research explores social and economic change within the Illawarra and seeks to better understand your experiences of change, those of your family and the community.

Participants will be asked to meet up for an interview where we will chat about your experiences and insights from living (or having lived) in the Illawarra, education, careers and opportunities, as well as how (or if) all these things are changing and what that means for you and your community.

About 6.45 tonight, an unmarked police vehicle entered the car park near Skydive The Beach in pursuit of a young man on a bike. He proceeded across the park and exited near the round about with the bike nowhere in sight.

About 10 minutes later, same car zoomed past the playground joined by a marked police van, lights flashing and speeding on the grass near the lagoon.

All parties promptly disappeared. Did anyone else witness this and know what was happening? Anyone know the outcome?

Seeing all the kids going house to house getting treats and having a ball! But then I see someone driving their kid (older) around to houses to cherry pick!

Ive been living in Brisbane for a while now but I'm thinking about moving to Wollongong because of how pretty the beaches are and it's close to Sydney without being a big city itself.

Anyone know where to buy disposable coloured contacts for Halloween, in store, around wollongong?

UOW Student here doing BEng. Have been applying for rentals with two friends and my girlfriend. We have been rejected for about 10 places so far. In a month and a half going to be homeless (very scary). Can live with my girlfriends parents but will have to defer university as travel is way too far. Feel like this will be a massive massive set back in my life and going to start looking in flatmates but they are all so overpriced and its hard to make a lot of money while studying a hard degree.

So I was really dumb and bought two VIP Yoursandowls tickets for the sunday, when really I’m only going for Denzel Curry who is performing on the Saturday.

Bought them both for $250 but will sell for like $180 Dont really care about losing profit just would rather not lose $500 and really want to see Denzel in Wollongong and there’s no refund or swap option on the website.

Car that was hit: silver small hatch?

Car that committed the hit and run: White van (I have there number plate as I chased them down lol)

Area: Figtree domino’s intersection

Time and date: 29th oct at 4pm

And rough description: Car was at domino’s side and swerved around the car in front who was waiting for a gap to turn right. The. Swings around and clips a smaller car and speeds off. Smaller car I believe had pullled off but by the time I had come back to talk to them they were gone. (I followed the van to get there plate and then turned around(they were also going around 80 in the residential roads obviously avoiding me following))

Just let me know if it was you or you know the person who was hit and I can send the details over and provide any form of witness case if needed. (Will post in the wollong Fb group when accepted)

My little one is really excited to do some trick or treating this year and I was wondering if there is anywhere/area/streets that really do it around in Illawarra?

Any places in the area that do poutine? I’ve had it from bar Luca in Sydney which was amazing but a bit far for a munchies feed. I’m not Canadian so really don’t care if it isn’t authentic

The total cost to restore the Hollywood sign in the 1970’s was $250,002

The Wollongong Sign requires 10 donations of $30,000 to be built.

Is the big festive event happening again this year for Halloween? Where you dress up and get lots of lollies.

At James Pearson park last year. There was lots of families with lollies and chocolate for the kids. Is it happening again this year?

We live in a block of units and for the past few months we've had someone use our red and yellow bins regularly. There's a pizza shop within our complex and I'm almost 100% sure they've been dumping their rubbish in our bins. I would confront the shop owner but the problem is I don't have any proof so if he turns around and denies it there isn't much that I could do. Is there any way I could discourage others from using our bins. Any advice would really be appreciated.

I recently moved down near Dapto, have climbed Mt Kembla and Mt Keira a few times, was thinking of trying something a bit more challenging and longer hikes. I have driven on Appin Road and Picton Road and all the bush land on both sides seems to have no entry signs, all the way across to the Macarthur valley

I'm moving from the Central Coast to Wollongong in a couple of months, will either be renting or flatting.

What is the rental market like at the moment? I know up this way its expensive due to housing shortages so was wondering if it was the same. Are there any good area's or area's to avoid?

So got harassed by Council employees so moved back into the bush. The tent is a Quest Cabin 8 tent from Camping Central Australia, cost $176 ( Note I may have got coupons).

Tarp is a 6 by 4 metre Army Waterproof Heavy Duty Canvas Tarpaulin from AuExpress, cost $176. It's a good tarp; blocks out the sun well.
