Namely, Sit720 Sit742 Sit787 Sit741 I did these courses this trimester and wanted other people’s experiences with the courses, exams, assignments, marks, tutor feedback etc
So I apparently am joining Deakin Burwood campus in March, and studying B.AI. I had following questions.
-I have been studying c/c++ and about to start learning discrete mathematics. 5. What is usual amount of time needed for self-study ?
(I know some questions are unnecessary, but I am an international student, so I am asking them anyway)
I recently moved out and just found out that I still have to pay rent until someone new takes over my room. If anyone is looking for a place to stay, pleaseeeee message me!!! I can’t afford to keep paying the rent, and I didn’t know this would happen.
I received my results today but one of the units is marked n and upon investigating I see that I can’t see my contributions in the company handover report and I had a word about it with my mentor but he consulted me to contact the unit chair and I am shit scared now on what exactly to do , I’ve mailed the unit chair as well !!
Is there any other option or advice , please let me know 🙏😢
I am an international student in grade 12. I am wondering about engineering schools in Melbourne. Factors I care about include teaching quality, student support, internship opportunities, and workloads.
My options are RMIT, Deakin, Swinburne
Appreciate everyone's comments.
Hiya, I just wanted to share my celebration with y’all.
It’s been a hell of a journey to get here. I’ve got four failed subjects on my transcript (seven if you count non-credit units), all from the good ol’ COVID days of 2020.
The stipulation of me returning to biomed was that I only took one class the next trimester and passed. I got a distinction for that class.
I have been at 2 subjects per trimester since T1 2023 and I have been thriving. I absolutely love my degree, and it feels so good to have the passion back.
I only have three more credit points left until I graduate - let’s hope I can keep this streak going!
How hard is it to get a permit for parking at waterfront?
Is there a way to see what I got on the actual exam instead of my final total grade and maybe even see the actual exam and see what I got right and wrong.
I received my grades for T2 today and I can see that the status for my SIT232 grade has been set to “RW”, or result withheld.
I was aiming for an HD, and passed all of the in-person interviews/discussions and got all of my assignments green ticked on OnTrack.
My friend got an RW too, she’s aiming for a Credit/Pass grade and had also passed all in-person discussions for that particular grade.
What does this mean? I did NOT use generative AI except to understand code snippets. The unit only has assignments in which we are meant to submit programs (and not written/explanatory assignments as in other units)
I also haven’t yet receive any mail on my student email.
What is the advantage of getting an HD in any units? I do not understand how it exactly becomes an advantage to anyone in real life or career?? Does anyone have any idea about it?
Hi!! I got an offer to do the graduate diploma of psychology and was just hoping for thoughts?? opinions?? advice??
Did you find it easy to manage? Easy content? I am graduating from Monash this year and want to know from past monash students how different the marking, subjects and overall teaching styles are?
I just need to know how easy this is lol cause i am trying to boost my grades to achieve an almost perfect score so tossing between deakin or monash.
thanks!
Hi everyone,
I recently got an offer to study medicine at the Waurn Ponds campus next year and I'm looking into the student accommodation as i'm from melbourne (about 1.5 hour drive each way). I was looking at the studio apartment option, parkes college I think it is? Was wondering what people's experiences were with this type of accommodation and if it is worth it? I love socialising, but i'm not looking to party as med is full on, so if it is going to be loud parties everynight that might be a red flag for me. Also was wondering what the parking situation is like? Is there a permit fee or is it included in the accommodation cost?
Thank you!
Hey Guys
I am taking psychopathology as a subject this trimester, just wondering if anyone is willing to sell me their copy of the psychopathology reading for a cheaper price than the first copy. Cheers
I'm bored
Hey everyone. Has anyone recently finished the unit SIT305 Mobile Application Development? I’m curious to know how the unit is structured and if students have the option to specialize in iOS or Android development, or if students are expected to cover both.
Additionally, I’d like to know the workload for this unit.
I’m planning to get a head start on learning iOS development so that when I complete this unit next year during trimester 1, I won’t be starting from scratch and have a better chance of doing well.
Keen to hear others’ experiences :)
Anyone here a nursing student at Deakin Burwood? If so and you wouldn't mind, I'd love to dm you to ask a few questions about the course! let me knoww and thank you
Hey there!!!
I am planning to study my bachelor's in cyber security at Deakin for the February intake. I am an international student.
1}How good are the professors, and what exactly is the mood of learning ?And what about the difficulty level ?
2}Is it a wise choice to go straight into cybersecurity? Just after high school, with no prior knowledge of computers and programming, or do you recommend any other course that is light? and why?
3}What are the prerequisite's ? and where can I learn them? I really want to finish learning everything and then come so that I have time to work and pay my own fee.
3}Is this degree advisable to get a permanent residence?
4}Since the course is very expensive for international students, I am planning to shift my university for the next few years. By doing so, I will be granted a visa since it is a prestigious UNI, and then after that, I will join any other UNI that is less expensive.
So... is it advisable to do so ?
Have anybody seen a student do it, or have you done it yourself?
5}About the part-time work, say a student is working for 3 hours, how much will he earn per day? Can he/she pay their year fee with that money?
6}What do international students generally do to pay their fee? Do their parents/guardians pay their entire fee, i.e., $49,000 per year? Or do they work and pay? If yes?
To what extent can you pay? or rather,, how much can an individual pay working odd jobs as parttime?
I made exactly 0 friends and did absolutely nothing the whole time. Success.
I recently got an email saying i was sshortlisted and was to attend an interview for the vice chancellor scholarship-- does anybody have experience with what type of questions they will be asking?
Hi all! I’m thinking about studying Commerce and International Studies, but I'm a bit uncertain about the job opportunities it might offer compared to a straight commerce degree or something like Commerce/Law or Commerce/Arts.
I enjoy the idea of Global Studies, but I’m wondering how it could set me apart or what career options it gives, especially in terms of practical, well-paying jobs in the commerce field. Has anyone here taken this path, or does anyone know how this combo might benefit career prospects differently? Any insights would be really appreciated! Thanks!
Hi :) Im just finishing year 12 and hoping to get into deakin burwood, I've applied for accommodation and im hoping to get into one of the student villages, however after looking on the sight I relised that the "packing list" is a bit broad and im a bit confused on what ill actally need. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me what they brought/actally used so I can start making a list of items I might need and putting some money aside. I would also appreciate if anyone would be able to tell me about the culture on res and even some rules and stuff like that within the villages!
Does anyone have first hand experience applying for readmission after a long break? I'm curious about the time line between submitting an application and receiving a response?
Anyone know of any good study tools/websites online that helps them study?
Why in Australia, except for a few universities, 80% of the uni offers Master of Information Technology there rather than a Master of Computer Science. Does it make any differences when trying out for jobs or internships in Australia? What do the companies prefer in there?
I am joining this march. I wanted to know what things I can study or learn before coming to university.
Coming from an IT bachelors and work experience, I had applied for Master in business(Marketing) because I wanted to switch the field from IT to Marketing. But in GTE call from Deakin, they said that I cannot pursue marketing as I don’t have any relevant background but they suggested I take Ms business analytics or Ms information systems. In MIS, I can opt for Marketing as specialisation. But my doubt is that is worth to study MIS if I want to work in marketing related job ?? Or should I just accept Master in marketing course from RMIT ?? Please suggest
I completed my A levels this year and applied through an agency to Deakin for Feb 2025 session. My initial choice was Bachelor in Computer Science, but my agent applied for Information Tech, which i got accepted in as well. I want to change my course because I want to pursue Masters in cybersecurity and CS is a better field. Also I'm good in math and CS focuses on theory and math more, which i prefer.
What do i do now? Should I contact the uni and will they offer a CS degree? Or should i do 1 semester in IT and then transfer course? But I also received a 25% scholarship, will that be applicable when i change courses???
Help smn :(
hi! i was just wondering if anyone knows why deakins library opening hours got significantly reduced and if this is a permanent thing?
This course doesn't have any prerequisites so was wondering how easy/hard would it be?
I have applied in masters of IT and I'm keen to know that how's be the experience and is there a good possibility of getting a job in the related field after the course. Also I'm coming in the nov intake anyone else who's there in the same intake in this uni
