Gosford Abandoned Carpark

What’s the story behind the Gosford abandoned car park on Henry Parry Drive opposite the park? When did it become abandoned and why? Was it a good car park back in the day? Also do people go into it these days? What goes on in there? Keen to get some context on this as such a big building like this has been this way for so long.

Creep taking photos of minors in Gosford/Erina.

The title sums most of it up, I didn't know where else to share this, and I'm not good at formatting I just don't want anyone else to have ro deal with what I did. Yesterday I was on the bus to Erina fair from gosford, just to do some shopping (I think the bus I took was the 64, but I can't remember) and there was an old man taking pictures of me, I am 17 years old, and did not notice until someone told me after I had gotten off of the bus. I sadly dont have a description of the man, as I was sitting directly infront of him, and I can't remember much. I know this subreddit is mainly adults, but if any of your kids are going out after school with friends or anything of the sorts, please make sure they're careful and safe, I don't want this happening to anyone else.

Update: I have filed a police report online, hopefully something comes out of it.

Fishing Charters

Hey, anyone have any good experiences with fishing charters on the Central coast?

Me and some mates are looking to try our hand at fishing (ideally this weekend) and looking for some recommendations.

Based in Terrigal but willing to travel

Friends

Hey Reddit peeps - wondering if anyone else is looking for friends?

I moved here a few years ago but making friends as an adult is tough! Would love to meet new people but haven’t found a way to “break in” particularly with other women. My partner isn’t an extrovert either which hasn’t helped!

I’m 30, female and likes include: tennis, Pilates, food and trying new places, but am also interested in current affairs/international politics and living sustainably/zero waste. I’m also a little crafty - like to sew and embroider (so in a lot of ways I’m living my grandma life)

If this resonates with you and you’re around the same age, would love to meet for coffee!

Is there a demand for dog walkers on the central coast?

Currently living in Sydney and running a dog walking business here. We are considering moving to the central coast but I’m unsure if there’s much demand for dog walkers? Are there many off leash areas or would bush trails and beaches (where dogs are allowed) be the best option?

I’m hesitant about commuting each day to Sydney as I already spend a lot of my day driving between clients as it is, and ideally would like to establish clients locally. Would love to hear from pet owners or those in the pet care industry. Thank you in advance for any replies!

Pubs/clubs with open kitchen

Looking for recommendations for pubs and clubs all over the coast whose kitchens stay open from lunch through to dinner. Husband and I often find ourselves super busy on weekends and by the time 3pm rolls around we are starving but nowhere opens their kitchen til 5-530!

Hey Central Coast legends! 🌊 I’m keen to dive into the world of woodworking but don’t know where to start. Any recommendations for beginner-friendly workshops or local gurus who can show me how to turn timber into treasures? Looking forward to crafting some sawdust magic on the weekends! 🪵✨"

Best budget hairdresser for edgier styles ??

I’m looking for a good hairdresser that has experience with edgier styles like mullets, idk why but I’ve always been scarred by the haircuts I get on the coast so for a while I’d only get them done in Sydney but it’s just so far and expensive !! Thanks :))

Last Private Maternity ward on the coast (North Gosford) shutting down

Thought it was of note, from march next year there will be no more private maternity wards on the central coast as North Gosford has advised patients they are shutting down the ward in March next year, and Wyong's Remains closed.

I guess if you want to go the private route you'll need to drive to Newcastle or Sydney now.

Wall Height Regulations?

Lots of the blocks around Woy Woy are long, narrow and tightly packed next to neighbours. They seem really well suited to spanish hacienda style design, with high garden walls. What are the regulations around wall heights and materials on the central coast?

Lost Alsatian? Just seen 0845 Carpenter Street, in-between Vernon and Ryans. Female adult dog, similar markings to a brown wolf. Couldn't get close to it & couldn't see a collar.

Starlink

Has anyone tried Starlink? The nbn is very poorly in Bensville, we must be farthest from the node as possible and left behind in the fibre upgrade plans. I'm thinking of switching to satellite to WFH. Has anyone used it? Is it reliable and stable?

Cheap eats

My wife and I are moving to umina from Penrith, and I would like to know where everyones best places to eat are, and where the best deals are. Just got a $6 large coffee from Margarita Daze, which i think is pretty good, but the breaky wrap was $14!

Help with GP/blood tests

I’m doing an amateur boxing fight near the end of the year and I’ve been told I need to get blood work done for the blue book passport thing needed for combat sports in NSW.

I’m British/irish and have a yellow Medicare card, and my mrs had to get bloods done for work but it ended up costing her nearly $400 (2 GP apts and bloods by laverty).

Is there any cheaper way of getting this done? I’m living in Erina but happy to drive wherever if it can save me 😅

Anxious teen into gaming + sciFi looking for friends

My 14yr old son has been struggling with anxiety and health issues since Covid. He's doing well on the health front now, but has been left with very few connections at school and really struggling to make friends. We moved up here 7 years ago from Sydney - so no deep roots in the area.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to help him find friends with shared interests. He's into Fortnight, Marvel, Star Wars, drawing comic characters, Transformers with a leaning towards achieving well academically when he's in gear; so not a sporty type although he progressed to working on Black Belt for Karate (but didn't complete - yet). He's not comfortable in large-scale social settings.
