Sydney ex-pats in early 30s moved to the coast last year and recently found out we are pregnant. We have private health insurance but would prefer to go public now that gosford private is shutting their doors.. I am feeling super anxious about where we should birth. Gosford public not looking great with staff shortages and a bit of a bad rep atm but not really sure if we have any other option? If we could, RNS would be a great option but is there option to go public out of our catchment area? Anyone living up here birthed in public at RNS? For those who birthed at gosford public, what was your experience and how recently was it?
Also would love any recommendations of any birthing/mums classes around gosford/erina area. We are hoping to meet some other soon to be parents we can build a little community with so any recs are welcome please 🙏
I've long been thinking about getting a chest freezer and buying a whole lamb or 1/2 cow. Was just looking at prices and it was around $18 per kg for a whole lamb which was not as good as I was thinking it was going to be. Although I assume I'll be getting better cuts and fresher animals.
What's been your experience? Where did you buy from? Help me pull the trigger.
Hi There,
I’ve read some older posts about this topic however wanted the latest information/people’s experiences.
I’ve just recently moved to the central coast and trying to hotspot whilst on the train using an IPhone 11 (I think an upgrade is necessary). I wanted to get some insight into what people are finding most reliable. Which provider works the best for mobile hotspot? What phones have been the best? Are people using dongles for better coverage etc etc.
Any other information/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Can anyone recommend a good pest control service? A pet friendly product would be good (i.e. gel not sprays).
Looking at a second hand car up near Umina - can anyone recommend a mechanic or service they've used to take a look under the hood? Would need to be mobile.
Haven't seen what the deal is on Tripview with northbound services at the moment (but something did stop at Gosford and continue on about ten mins ago), but all southbound services are staying put due to freight train issues at Mt Colah or Asquith - can't remember if the staff said it's taken out services beyond the affected station.
There's been a train at Cowan paused for over an hour now (with services further up the line beginning their hiatus at later times) and we haven't heard anything about train replacement buses, so anyone who has plans to go into Sydney today via public transport might want to reconsider them.
The staff on the train I'm on are trying to relay any updates, but haven't gotten anything.
So yeah, just the average rainy day on the Central Coast.
hey everyone! my friends and i are staying in the entrance for a week and we’re just wondering what places are good/ young people go to lol. thank you!
Hi is it possible to drive up a boat up Wallarah creek & Spring Creek? I would assume you cannot go too far in but wanted to check if anyone has done this in the past.
First time buying a wetsuit and looking for surf shop recommendations where the people will give good advice and have good brands. Is it worth driving down to northern beaches or are the shops on west st Umina and Erina good enough?
I am looking to try a new butcher and being disabled I need one that delivers. Usually buying chicken schnitzel, beef patties and sausage rolls.
Does anyone have any recommendations for butchers that deliver on the central coast?
Hi all, I'm eager to hear how the community feel about Central Coast Grammer school? It looks amazing and the HSC results are better than a lot of private schools in Sydney. I'm just wondering if it has any systemic issues parents wouldn't know about unless they spoke to current parents at the school.
I've got two boys currently in primary school in Sydney's north shore and I'm considering putting both down on the wait-list for CCG for year 7. I'd also welcome a move to the central coast so that would be another plus.
We're also from a minority background so is the school quite diverse or the kids tolerant of those from different backgrounds? Coming from Sydney it's never been an issue but I would hate to move the boys from a safe environment and into one where they are singled out for the colour of their skin.
Any spiritual groups meditations etc around budgewpi area wadalba or kanwal
Hey does anyone know where to get a 510 thread battery for a medical cannabis cart? I've seen them online but thought I'd try my luck locally first. I tried a few of the tobacconists around with no luck yet.
Hi all, moving to Gosford as a 20yo by myself and I work an "at home" sorta job and really like working in a Cafe on my computer. Wondering if there's any nice cafes in the main area. Would prefer a cafe opposed to a library due to having a "laptop" job where I'm alone all day with no interaction.
Hi everyone, a bit of a niche request here... Can anyone point me towards a local service that can restore (clean, sharpen) old hand tools? My grandfather passed and left behind some Stanley hand planes that I would love to have restored to their former glory. I've done a bit of googling about places on the coast, but to no avail. Thanks for any tips!
35 m looking to get into running more to loose a few and want to find either and active club or maybe someone wanting a running mate.
My wife wants to take our 5yo son to Sonic 3 at Erina fair… it’s called Extreme Screen and Atmos … we are worried that it may be too loud .. does anyone have any experience or input about this thanks. 🙏🏼 he’s not super sensitive but I’ve found movie levels annoying sometimes. Not memorably at Erina though.
G’day everyone, myself and a few others are looking to put together a social based soccer team this winter in the CCF league, obviously eleven a side, but probably need a squad of 18-19 with injuries etc. it’ll be social based team, where it really doesn’t matter what your skill level is etc, we will be wanting to win more than not, as everyone does in sport but it won’t be the end of the world if we don’t. It will be an All Age men’s team, probably aiming to play somewhere from div 6 to 8. Either comment on this or PM me if you are keen and I’ll let you know more about which clubs we are considering etc. Thanks
Built on a hill? Tortuous through lines? Not enough room to pull out? Speed bumps like mountains? Vote or nominate!
Apparently they are in the Central Coast. They're an app/company that organises dinners with strangers in your area for the purpose of making friends.
I can imagine something like this working in Sydney but for some reason can't picture it in the coast so curious if anyone has tried it.
Hi, I don’t know the area at all. Looking for a bakery recommendation, preferably one that does great eclairs! Thank you
Heya, hoping someone might know if there are any of these walls in parks or tennis courts on the coast? Ta!
i just wanted to know if there are any good backroads that have little to no cars so that I can go bike riding pls let me know if there are any as im new to the central coast and riding on the roads is my favourite hobby
I’ve only just moved to the Central Coast and getting to grips with how long commutes take, especially driving versus train travel. And I know nothing about how Sydney operates lol.
Just wondering if Parramatta (as opposed to the city) will be a commute worth considering or will it slowly kill my soul?
And would you take the train or risk driving?
Thanks!
I like to go for walks around there and it’s always empty….I know it’s the summer break at the moment but even during the semesters, I never see any students around. And I’ve done walks at different times of the week and on different days. Yet the grounds still look decently maintained.
The only people I see there are walking or running on the exercise circuit like me.
Has it always been like this or is it a recent phenomenon?
I’m quite new to the area. Near Terrigal + Erina
My partner drives automatic, but I need to give them a refresher on manual as it’s been 5+ years since they have driven manual.
Is there any nice clear locations, anyone on here has used in the past? What I thought was an Erina fair overflow carpark would be good but it appeared to be staff parking, maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
Thanks
