Online learning circle: electric vehicles

We've all heard of EVs, but do we fully understand their role in the Earth crisis? What's preventing a quicker adoption of EVs? Even if we could replace ICE cars with EVs really quickly, what impact would that have on the Earth crisis?

We'll be exploring these questions and more in this this month's online Earth Crisis Learning Circle session.

Tue, Nov 19, 7pm AEDT

All welcome! Learn together. Have fun together.

(Survey for Hospitality Workers) I'm currently doing my final year of studies at RMIT university working onmy capstone looking at waste management within Australia's Hospitality Industry, and I’d love to hear from as many hospitality workers as possible!

What’s the survey about?

I’m exploring how hospitality businesses in Melbourne handle waste and how we can improve sustainability practices, focusing on local government relationships and collaboration with buisinesses. The survey is slightly long (~5 mins), but all questions are optional. Your insights will help shine a light on the challenges and opportunities in the industry and help shape future improvements in local policies, collaboration with councils, and business sustainability initiatives! If you’re a manager, or have experience in hospitality operations, I’d really appreciate your input!

Thanks heaps for your time, and please feel free to share this with anyone you know!

Survey for parents/caregivers to children aged 2-12 - looking at what children know about sharks

Hi everyone,

I am a scientist from Australia and I am looking for participants across the world for some new research I am doing.

Are you the parent/caregiver of a child aged 2-12 years? If so, we kindly invite you to participate in our short online survey about sharks. We are interested in what children know about sharks, so this survey involves you completing a couple of questions about sharks, and then asking your children some questions about sharks. You will then be asked to write what your children say or what they do (e.g. if they use hand gestures).

LINK TO SURVEY:

https://research.unisa.edu.au/redcap/surveys/?s=XYPHMNMKFEJR7H4P

Please also feel free to send to any one you know who might be interested.

The survey takes approximately ten minutes per child to complete, if you have more than one child aged between 2-12 they can all participate.

This study has received ethics approval from the University of South Australia (#206267). If you have any queries, please contact the lead researcher: Brianna.lebusque@unisa.edu.au

What is an ecological footprint? Is that the same as a carbon footprint? What is the relationship between ecological footprint and ecological overshoot? What's your ecological footprint? What is Australia's ecological footprint?

We'll be exploring these questions and more in this month's online Climate Crisis Learning Circle.

Tue, Oct 15, 7pm AEDT

All welcome! Learn together. Have fun together.

Drone footage suggests Vitrinite is clearing koala habitat to mine coal while their development application is still pending

We have drone footage suggesting they have already bulldozed 47 hectares of land and are starting to mine coal—all without the necessary federal approval. Their Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act A application for the full Vulcan South mine that would clear 800 hectares of habitat is still with the Federal Government.

Vitrinite has a history of disregarding environmental protections, including incidents of pollution and unauthorised land clearing. If we don’t speak up now, they could keep getting away with it.

Our supporters have already sent over 400 emails to Minister Plibersek asking her to enforce the law, protect our koalas, issue a stop work order and refuse approval for further clearing for the mine.

Can you please join them and add your voice?
