I think this is the last night to see them and I don't want to miss a once in a lifetime opportunity
Hey Everyone.
I have created a new subreddit called r/CanberraFootball which is place for Canberrans to talk about football (soccer) in Canberra and also football related content to Canberra as well. I thought that football is popular in Canberra and it would be good to have a subreddit where we can talk about football related to Canberra.
The aurora is a bucket list for me and I’m excited by the opportunity of saving myself tens of thousands by ticking it off without a trip to the Arctic Circle.
Anyone got intel on visibility tonight? I’d be up to driving a couple of hours.
Looking for recommendations for a place to buy ~20 mini pastries in Canberra for a work function.
Hello! I've heard Williamsdale is a good place for seeing the aurora, but anyone have any specific places?
Walking past the new buildings on the site of the old swim centre at Kippax. Started to wonder if the memory I have of there being a larger pool located "under" the main one. Might have been a dive pool.
Am I mad, does anyone have photos of the pool, or even better, plans?
Does anyone remember if there was a second pool underneath the main one?
Hey Ken-behrens,
Just wondering how Permanent Residents are doing in terms of finding an IT job in Canberra. I heard it's tough out there. Any recommendations where people should look at?

Hi CBR,
I’ve been appointed guardian and financial manager for a friend with young onset FTD. I’m a broke nurse, so suitability unqualified for management of an asset portfolio, pros and cons of lump sum TPD vs income protection, and all that jazz.
I’m looking for a trustworthy financial planner that has some experience with round-the clock care, and trying to make the assets and cash (and payouts) last for the remainder of their life.
Kinda need to move quickly as the last TPD offer was really generous (basically monthly income protection for 10 years) and the trajectory at the moment looks more like 3.
So if you are a financial planner with time this week, or you’ve had a great experience with one, let me know!
Thanks
Hello all, I am pretty new to Canberra and been finding myself pretty bored lately I was wondering if there are any groups around that get together and play cards once a week or something similar. Am looking to play Tarneeb 41, Hearts, Vietnamese Poker, Euchre, Or Gin Rummy
Hoping for this rain to clear later tonight so we can all get a good look at the aurora. Genuinely curious if we can even see it this far "north" despite the rain clouds, would love to know!
Had a bit of a shock visiting Teddy Pickers (my old favourite) this weekend during a trip from Sydney.
Really missing it’s original charm and good vibes. All the real plants have been replaced with fake ones… no mullet man… tragic.
Hey Canberra, I'm putting this question out there to see what you would love to see in our national capital's CBD (right in the heart of civic) over the next few decades.
What ideas do you have to put Canberra on the world stage? What can we build to put Canberra on the world map? What new additions can we add to enhance and evolve our city?
Remember when Sydney built the harbour bridge? Well, many of us weren't around then. But, that's the sort of visionary idea that can change a city forever.
We've all got imaginations so let's share them. Anything worth building starts with a conversation.
Think big. No wrong answers.
I'm coming to Canberra for a Mon-Fri course that unfortunately runs all day, but would LOVE some reccomendations on food/activities that are open past 4:30PM and in the city. Trying to maximise my time in this city while acknowledging that I'll be indoors studying for most of it :(
I see on google maps that yarralumla kebabs (Turkish halal pide house) is temporarily closed.
Anyone know why?
A bloke at work was showing a photo of a red dalek with some folks at a Star Wars event (nice troll from the Doctor Who fandom) that was printed in yesterday's Canberra Times.
Does Canberra have its own friendly neighbourhood dalek, or was this an inter-state invader?
Family and I are most likely moving to Canberra next year (ADF) and wondering if it is worth looking for a place to buy after we arrive, and if so, where to look. We have a house with about 400-500k in equity that we would sell, so our rough budget would be under $900k at a guess.
Change over costs are all claimable through the ADF, so really just wondering if it's worth looking in our budget, or just keep current house as ip and DHA-it.
Looking for a 4/2/2 free standing home.
Thanks!
Hi, is anyone able to recommend a baby sleep consultant in Canberra for a 4 month old? The ones I can find are video consults and I’m nervous about that approach.

Can you still feed a kangaroo at the zoo? Or is there anywhere like Rehwinkles that still exists that I could take an overseas visitor who’s keen on a close encounter with a kangaroo?
From 7.30 ish, I have hear non stop thunder/shooting/banging. If it us fireworks, there is a hell of a lot of it.
It took almost an hour and a half to get home from Woden to Belconnen today.
I miss the days where you could catch a direct bus from Belconnen to Woden, sure it still took longer than a 20 minute drive in a car but at least it was feasible for regular transport.
Is there a way of campaigning for more direct routes?

Is it just me or has the Fix My Street site been changed so that you now have to login and can't submit anonymously?
Sceptical me says this is to reduce the number of requests so that they don't have to as much fixing of things.
Whatever the reason this is a clear step backwards, adding yet another step to the multi step process that is already required to submit some simple maintenance. Quite frustrating.
I live in a complex needing tree maintenance to be performed. I’m not super convinced with quotes received from a relatively unknown company that I can’t find any reviews on - KP Trees Pty Ltd - and would like to hear reviews or recommendations from people who have used arborist services in Canberra, especially in relation to tree management.
Hey folks,
I'm moving to Canberra soon and need some advice on where to rent a place.
I'll be working right in the center and won't have a car. Any suggestions on the best areas to stay in?
Can someone enlighten on whether this diagram correctly shows where people can travel when they enter the roundabout from Wentworth Avenue?
On Wentworth, there is a bypass lane to Fyshwick so people don't need to navigate the roundabout at all, which is fine.
There are two Wentworth lanes that enters the roundabout. Taking the left lane, you can go to Fyshwick (indicate left turn), and Sturt Avenue (go straight, and indicate left turn upon exit). If you are on the right lane, then you can go to Sturt Avenue (go straight, and indicate left turn upon exit) or continue to Canberra Avenue (indicate right turn).
Is this correct? I was in the yellow path going to Sturt and almost got taken out by someone on red line attempting to go to Canberra Avenue.
