I pay quarterly, my last bill came up and was due during November, just received one due December. Seems a little quick no? Anyone else received something like this?
Hi, thanks for reading.
So I recently got the oppertunity to go to JCU Cairns campus for a 6 month ecology internship. I am a 25-yo international (EU) master student. Everything about this internship seems amazing, I love the subject matter and I am a big nature fan. However, I still have some doubts. I have been doing a lot of googling and research on Cairns and its surroundings, and feel like it is more travel-centered than student-centered. To put it short, I am scared that it will be hard to make friends and I will become super lonely. I can't find a ton of student associations or sports clubs (I'm into rugby/rock climbing), which are usually the easiest way to meet people. There's also not that many international students. Guess I just wanna ask, is there any sort of student or internationals events around? Would it be wise get into Smithfield campus housing (John gray) or rent/buy a car and live in Cairns? Hope you don't mind me asking, cheers
Yo what's up Cairns.
So I recently flew out from Cairns back to Sydney, and noticed that shortly after the take off the pilots banked the plane to the left super hard. I noticed other planes doing it the day before as well. Anyone know the reason why?
I assume it's probably something to do with being close to residential areas and avoiding noisy pollution no?
Hi r/Cairns!
I might have an opportunity to move to Cairns for work and I’m curious what the vibe is like. My partner and I are in our late twenties and tend to enjoy things like live music, house music/DJ sets, going out to eat, cocktail and wine bars, etc.
I’m under no delusion that Cairns will be like Melbourne, but am eager to know what the night life and making friends scenes are like? Any suggestions of specific venues/restaurants?
(Outside of Red Rooster, I have had the pleasure of learning lots about this local cuisine in this sub already)
TIA!
Where did you last go out to eat?
How was it? Would you recommend?
Does any delivery for Amazon here in Cairns? I had signed up for AmazonFlex in Brisbane and now I’m back in cairns for the uni holidays, but I’ve just been approved for AmazonFlex in Brisbane. Is there any way I can change the region to Cairns and deliver here for a couple of months.
I have just starterd on my trading journey and im looking for any locals that currently trade or are looking to connect to network. Ill trading Futures
Is the expression still relevant to all in Queensland or just to the whole Top End?
Left the airport the other night and was immediately greeted by the smell of lynx Africa, wafting on the breeze. What was unusual however, there was no one around. Grabbed my uber into the city, and the car smelt of lynx Africa. The bellboy taking my bags to my room.. the waiter at breakfast.. hell I swear, even the scuba suit I wore for diving.. all lynx Africa. Walking through the city, there's no getting away from it.
Does the city produce the stuff, so everything and everyone just picks up the smell from a nearby factory?
I have been looking for a home to rent for 2 yrs anyone else having issues I tbh think its because the 3 of us r on disability centrelink we also have access to super and yet still deny us I 100% believe it's the centrelink even tho u can be fired from a job disability centrelink is forever like u would think people prefer the centrelink but nope anyways anyone got advice or something that can help its driving me insane
I’ll try this again. I’m looking to trade this Merida Speeder 200 for a DH or Enduro. Clearly I’d be throwing in some extra cash to even put the trade. I guess I’m just seeing if there’s anyone out these looking to retire from the hills but not retire from riding altogether. Bike is in new condition, I’ve ridden it 6 times. Never been wet, never been off road, lives in the garage.

Thoughts and ideas for this going forward?
RSL has no specials that I can see. If your favourite pub is missing, I couldn't find any specials.
Unfortunately Red Rooster isn't classified as a pub and will never feature on this list.
I was attacked earlier by a very young kid, 13 maybe. Be was being innaproriate to girls in the Gordonvale library. They ran out yelling he has a knife. I ran over (49m) and confronted the boy. He then proceeded to tell me he was going to cut my throat and stab me reapetedly with his knife. Which was a sharpened steak knife. I disarmed him then the family came down the street and kid started throwing stones. Police were called almost 4 hours ago for attempted murder. Spent over 40 minutes on the other police line with no answer. Surely a knife to my throat would at least warrant a statement?
Hi, new to Cairns and looking for a good shop to work on my 80 series. It's got a ls engine swap.
Any recommendations?
I'll be in Cairns soon and wondering if there is any discreet locations (ie not the pool) to sunbathe? I can drive a short distance but hoped locals could point me in the right direction whether there was something close to town or which beaches would be best within a short distance?
When the roosters call and the chicken’s shaped like love, you know it’s time to devour more than just food. 👌🏼❤️
Hi, recently moved to Cairns but we've been long term in NQ and have done all the staple activities and tours before (including Sugar World in its glory days). Would love some suggestions on everyday Cairns local things e.g. hikes, eats, arty stuff, parks, weekly events, good for a look, bored Saturday morning ideas when you want to get out of the house...
