Driving from Melbourne to Gippsland the highway changes it's designation from M1 to A1 just after Traralgon, even though the conditions of the road remain the same
Out of interest, does anyone actually know the difference between an M road and an A road, and what differentiates them?
Is there a cool lookout point of sorts on a hill or cliff or on the side the road where I can park and look over traralgon. Preferably not popular
Hi 👋 me, my wife and our 9month are RV’in Sydney to Melbourne in late November. We’re mostly staying 2 nights at a time in .gov campsites off grid and near fishing spots. For two nights in the east Gippsland area we’re looking for a campground/campsite/RV park that we can stay 2 night that has a pool and a bar- or one close enough that we can walk to a restaurant after cooking our own meals for a week. Thinking somewhere between Bairnsdale and Maffra, and not too far off the main route to Melbourne. Close to a river/fishing a bonus but not needed.
Thanks in advance if anyone know a spot!
In Japan everyone speeds
Hello!
In the next couple of weeks my partner and I are planning to stay for one night (Saturday-Sunday) in Inverloch or as close as possible to Inverloch.
So, if you were doing a similar weekend trip, what are your must do's that you would include? Where is a good place to stay that is not too overpriced?
Some things to know:
- we don't want to camp, but happy to stay anywhere as long as there is parking for one car. Even a nice caravan park that has cabins available for two people.
- we want to go bike riding at some point. What are some nice trails that are relatively easy/relaxing?
- nice cafes, restaurants, bakeries that we should put on our list.
- any popular attractions or day/saturday night activities we can do.
Thanks!
Why is there an alarming amount of tattslotto shops up for sale at the moment,l know business are doing it hard but just in Gippsland Victoria there must be at least 15-20 right now on one website, Has something happened in there industry?

Good people of Gippsland (particularly Latrobe Valley) I’m wanting to meet new people and hopefully make some friends along the way but as I don’t have Facebook nor really know anyone else in the area apart from my partner, I’m hoping you can help me out with any links, details, information about groups and clubs in the area that I could look into…
I have no doubt there’s others on here who are in the same boat with interests all over the place so maybe this could serve as a bit of a directory for new comers or people just wanting to try new things and meet new people.
Cheers and have an awesome day here in this beautiful part of the world!
Edit: To add… I’m 38-f, I enjoy creative/hands on activities, woodworking etc. (always looking to learn stuff in this area) not very sporty but maybe just haven’t found the right thing. I’m open to any ideas really, which is probably not that helpful 😜
Culture me! Would love to know who the creators, influencers, movers and shakers are in the region.

Hello fellow Gippsland people. I’m wondering if you can help me find the ad from a few years ago that had Nigel the dog in it. I don’t remember the company but all I remember is the dialogue:
“Don’t repent ye sinners for the end is nice” Nigel: “don’t repent for the end is nice, guh, who thinks up these stupid ads” “NIGEL!” Then the dog smiles.
Please help me find the ad or even the business it came from 🙏🙏
This is for drawing/general hobby. The Morewell powerplant was great, but I'm looking for something different.

I'm 26F and just moved to Sale from Melbourne for work by myself. Would love to find a little community of people to do life with and a house church would be just that! If anyone knows of one - please let me know!
So I drive Lancer 2008 that need timing belt replacement and brake pads replacement. Anyone have recommendations for those services?
Bit of a random one but I figured it's worth asking :p I'm after a dragon fruit plant but a but reluctant to order one without seeing it. Any ideas about places that might have them?
I live in Briagolong and was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy round hay bales. I just need one but the guy I used to get them from a couple of years ago doesn't sell them anymore.
Thanks for any help.
Happy NAIDOC week from Gunaikurnai Country!
In the heart of southeastern Australia, where the mountains meet the sea, lies the beautiful and sacred land of the Gunaikurnai people. This is Gunaikurnai country, a place rich with history, culture, and natural beauty. The dense forests, rolling hills, and pristine lakes are not just landscapes; they are the lifeblood of the Gunaikurnai, the source of their stories, traditions, and spirituality.
One such story is about Tiddalik, the giant frog. Long ago, Tiddalik woke up with an insatiable thirst. He drank and drank until all the water in the rivers, lakes, and billabongs was gone. The land became parched, and the animals were desperate for water. They came together to find a way to make Tiddalik laugh, believing that his laughter would release the water he had consumed.
They tried many things. Kangaroo jumped high, Koala told funny stories, and even Kookaburra, with his infectious laughter, joined in. But Tiddalik remained unmoved. Finally, wise old Platypus performed a peculiar dance, flapping his webbed feet and wriggling his tail. The sight was so unexpected and amusing that Tiddalik couldn't help but laugh. As he laughed, all the water came gushing out, restoring life to the land and its inhabitants.
This story is not just a tale of thirst and laughter but a reminder of the interconnectedness of all life and the importance of harmony in the natural world. The Gunaikurnai people have always understood this balance, living in tune with the seasons, the land, and its creatures.
In modern times, the Gunaikurnai continue to preserve their heritage while embracing the future. They work to protect their sacred sites, teach their language and stories to the younger generations, and share their culture with visitors. The Bataluk Cultural Trail is one such initiative, guiding people through the land, revealing the rich tapestry of Gunaikurnai history and tradition.
As the sun sets over the Gippsland Lakes, casting a golden glow over the water, the spirits of the ancestors watch over Gunaikurnai country. Their stories whisper through the trees, carried on the breeze, reminding all who listen of the enduring connection between the land and its people.
Would this road be classified/described as a
Single carriageway
Single lane expressway
Motorway
And why?
Cheers
What's everyone's thoughts on Dutton wanting to put a reactor in Gippsland. I personally don't like the idea at all, they had a decade to do something about energy and did nothing and now I'm to trust them building a Nuclear Reactor. And they refuse to tell us the cost of it all.
Does anyone know what the speakers on the little theatre in Traralgon are for? Is it some emergency warning system or for something completely different?

Hello, I’ve been looking into jobs in Melbourne to progress the career to the next step. How do people find commuting to Melbourne 3 days a week (from Moe)? With the other 2 at home. I hate public transport especially out here with coaches replacing trains a lot. Was thinking I’d ride motorbike in 2 of the 3 days. What do other people do? Do many stay down a couple of nights a week?
