I came out from under my rock today and stumbled on a DJT 2023 campaign video. One of the items on his plan is national concealed carry reciprocity. I hadn't heard or read this before, seems like a big obstacle to overcome, maybe one of the reasons it wasn't brought up more often. Anyone else heard about it?
"7. Finally, President Trump will sign concealed carry reciprocity legislation, fully secure the border, dramatically increase interior enforcement, and wage war on the cartels."
and
"Seventh, they will protect the right of self-defense everywhere it is under siege. And I will sign concealed carry reciprocity. Your Second Amendment does not end at the state line. In addition, I will of course fully secure the border, dramatically increase interior enforcement, and wage war on the cartels. (4:05)
I am a 19 year old male inquiring on if there is any legal way for me to receive a handgun for open carry purposes. With the increasingly scary world we live in there are many times I’d be more comfortable if I could open carry a firearm.
like most of you I have a list of "Id like to buy one of those at some point"
The Prop KK thing is making me consider which of those purchases I might expedite, the additional tax being my justification for doing so.
What have you got your eye on?
Im thinking about the desert eagle. Yes its a stupid, heavy, unreliable awful gun, but always wanted one!
Hoping this doesn’t go against the pinned thread. Sorry if it does, mods. I recently upgraded to an AR-10 and looking for a retail store to buy a few hundred rounds in bulk at a reasonable cost. Anywhere between south of Colfax and Castle Rock is fair game. I know online is cheaper, but don’t want to deal with waiting for shipping once the 3-day waiting period clears and I go to the range to test the rifle out. It seems stores here only carry hunting-grade 308 for $2-3 a round. Once I put a few hundred bulk rounds through the rifle, I’ll figure out what to get online. Thanks!
This will likely throw a wrench in future AWBs in other states including CO. About time one of these bit the dust!
My friend sealed his record a few years back for a felony drug offense. Does anyone know the laws on purchasing firearms? Does he have to appeal to have his gun rights reinstated? We're having trouble finding clear answers. TIA!
Over the last 48 hours, I have had conversations with people across the state, and the growing consensus is that people had no idea what KK was, even with people I would consider to be pro-gun.
When I mentioned my disappointment that KK passed, the first response was, "Oh, which one was that?" When I explained that it was a tax on guns, ammo, and firearm parts, they were shocked as they "don't remember that being on their ballot." When I went on to say that it was supposed to fund mental health services and school safety, they were like, "Oh yeah, I voted yes on that one as I thought it would help people and schools."
These conversations even happened in pro-gun state-wide Facebook groups...
Collective facepalm.
It's crazy how we can live in a world of so much information, and yet people don't take time to actually read whats on the ballot, or the information the state so kindly actually sends out (blue book) before elections. We have to do a better job at spreading good information in more ways, rather than just assume people will fully read and understand what is on their ballot.
I want my first hunting rifle and I have decided either a Ruger 77 Hawkeye or a Winchester 70. 30-06. All I see on armslist is from dealers. What should I expect to pay for either of these on the low end? Is there a better place besides armslist? Was thinking about going to the tanner gun show in pueblo next weekend but last show I went to 2 years ago was bare and super pricey, not sure if it's still that way
Looking to purchase a 5.56 here soon and wondering where people have bought from and had them shipped to the metro area. I didn't realize how hard it can be to get even just parts sent to you if your in this area. I had a company cancel an order I made for a striped pistol slide recently (despite there being nothing wrong with that as best I can tell) so I started looking more into retailers FAQs. I was looking to order something from PSA since they deal with pieces in my general budget but it looks like they wont ship anything period to the area. I talked to my FFL and he said PSA is "generally the hardest to get anything from". Has anyone in the area received a 5.56 or kit from them? Are there other retailers that you've used?
The good news: No major infringements will be coming federally, and we have pro gun Judges and Justices ready to be appointed for at least the next 2 years.
Also, ranked choice voting failed which gives us (or rather our state parties) the chance to moderate to win in Colorado. Fat chance I know.
Finally, no astroturfers today as every 4-8 years an R wins the presidency and the astroturfers don’t have their marching orders on what to say for about 24 hours or so. Enjoy today on reddit!
Bad news: Colorado went left and will virtue signal hard due to the Trump presidency. That means I expect antigun BS to pass this session. Start contacting your representatives now to fight back! Otherwise the AWB will come this time.
We will now need to pay 6.5% more on guns and ammo purchases went it comes into law…
Any local gun stores that carry savior equipment or ifak pouches from other makes? Wanted to support a local business before just ordering directly off websites.
I’ve searched it up but Google won’t give me a clear cut answer but I’m almost positive me at 20 yrs old can walk into a gun store and buy an ar15 since it is technically a rifle correct?
My CCW is up for renewal but I can't find my original course certificate. What do I do?
Yes I know that this is a subreddit about Colorado Gun owners but wanted to ask anyways since Utah is the land of the guns and allows the following.
I am a Colorado resident, fully registered in Colorado, though currently in Utah for college. I plan to compete in biathlon this year using a rifle registered in my father’s name. To clarify, I am legally allowed to own a firearm and am not restricted in any way.
I understand there are general legal nuances around lending or gifting firearms across state lines, although these laws tend to be less strict within families. Colorado and Utah laws permit such "transfers" in certain contexts, and Utah specifically allows firearm lending for sports purposes. Given my residency in Colorado but part-time presence in Utah, what legal considerations apply when transporting a borrowed firearm across state lines?
Are there specific written agreements, waivers, or official paperwork recommended to cover liability and ensure compliance with state and federal laws?
While I am aware of the option to conduct an FFL transfer, as a 19-year-old, I would face extended background checks (one shop told me it takes 20-40 days due to interstate communications and such), which doesn’t align with my current competition schedule. Therefore, I intend to complete an FFL transfer in the spring when I have time.
Thank you all for your time and help!
Obviously everyone should go vote, especially no on Prop KK, the firearms and ammo tax.
However, if it passes, it’ll take effect on April 1, 2025. It may be wise to buy a few boxes before the election as if it passed I assume more people will drive up the prices in the state.
Good luck everyone!
Hi everyone,
I recently inherited a .45 from my late father and I’ve been interested in taking it to a range. Growing up I always went with him, and he took care of everything and taught me the 10 commandments. Now years later I’m looking to go to a range solo, but I’m not sure what I should prep or expect. I was hoping yall could give me some insights of good ranges around the Denver metro to try, and a checklist of stuff to bring/ be prepared for. I currently have a pelican case to transport the firearm and only 2 clips of ammo on hand.
Some questions I have are:
Should I purchase ammo beforehand and bring it to the range? Or do they have some for sale there?
I need eye protection and ear protection, what should I look into purchasing?
Is there a video link someone could share about etiquette to respect other shooters in lanes next to you? (like bowling before someone next to you)
I just want to make sure I have a professional experience and don’t ruin someone else’s. The last thing I want to do is come in and make a noob mistake to upset others or the staff.
Any sort of help/insight to a first-timer would be appreciated!
I know there is a designated range on the Pawnee grassland, but is the rest of the grasslands open for shooting? Is there a good place or is it just find a spot with. Decent backstop?
This sounds like a silly question, but I just ordered some night vision goggles recently, and I was wondering if there were any ranges where I can go and try them out in Colorado? And if not, what can I do legally when it comes to shooting at night. It’s not for hunting but for just general training.
