Kriss vector gen 2 enhanced mags

The typical question for any kriss owner: does it take g17 pmags, or are they too short?

Québec bill 9 - Super confused

So I'm doing research on getting my PAL and I live in Québec.

I've registered for a CFSC course, and plan on applying for the PAL after completing the course. (Would have done CFSC + CRFSC combo but it seems like the courses are given seperately here)

When I check for shooting ranges near me, the one on the Québec side says having the Bill 9 card is mandatory to be an annual member of the range.

Reading info about the Bill 9, it says I need to have attended a restricted course to register.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, I would have to take the CRFSC course even if I only want to shoot unrestricted firearms in that range in Québec? (The ranges located on Ottawa don't mention the Bill 9 at all..)

When your targets are as happy as you are

Was shooting a plate rack, a round struck the bar just below just right to shave the round and leave a smile and a second round to knock the plate down gave it a second eye. I'm no Bob Ross but that's a happy accident

Best place to buy ceramic plates that offer a military discount?

Looking to invest in some ceramic plates and curious to know which company offers a good military discount. I found a couple sites that offer discounts but curious if anyone has experience with getting a really good deal with their military discount

Family range day

Finally time for me to bring both guns out to the local gravel pit (public land)! Trying some remington pheasant load compared to the federal #6 target load i've been shooting so far (the red shell next to the remington box) and then my .22 for some plinking fun!

Questions / Assumption Correction for the Muzzle Loading folks

Inherited a muzzle loader from my late uncle, who I unfortunately never had the chance to talk with about the muzzle loader specifically. I understand how they work (shoutout Scout Brigade of Fort George), but I'm a little uncertain on the load development.

Thompson Centre Impact; .50, rifled, 209 breach plug, etc. In the kit box there's an empty box of Hodgdon 30gr. compressed pellets, and partial box of 50gr. White Hots. The bullets that are left are half .250gr .45cal in plastic sabots (some are in plastic loading tubes paired with a 100gr load of the White Hots), and some 180gr. .49cal lead ball shot.

Question / Assumption Time:

  • Are there any resources on maximum safe powder charge for this rifle in particular? Don't want to just fuck around and Kentucky Ballistics myself, or strip out the rifling after 50 shots because I sent it too hard, and the Thompson website is... less than helpful
  • What are the best resources for developing loads? Seems to me there's a lot more wiggle room without the confines of a cartridge case to work in.
  • In terms of projectiles:
    • I assume anything that I can get down the barrel with moderate arm strength will come back just fine, and not cause overpressure by being too tight, am I off base there?
    • I assume with an appropriate sabot, any .452 projectile would work fine. Any of the bullets meant for .45 APC, .45 LC, .454 Casull, .450 Bushmaster. Likewise I assume I would need a different sabot for .458 bullets like .450 Marlin, .458 Lott, SOCOM, Win.Mag
    • I assume small shot loads are going to have a bad time because of the rifling, make the pattern doughnut shaped? Probably more luck with #4 Buck and up?
  • On powder, I know best practise is to only use black powder/substitute, not using FFF in the main charge, etc.. I assume mixing the preformed pellets and loose powder would also be a bad idea, as the pellets would prevent proper compression of the loose powder when rammed home?
