Hey, I’m a 31 year old single mom of two (7 and 3), and I’ve been here for a year and have yet to make any real friends. I would love to make some single mom friends with kids around the same age. I’m open to friends that aren’t single moms of course, like married women with kids, women without kids who don’t mind being around kids, or men with kids who are capable of being platonic, but I’ve learned other single moms are my best bet.lol. I homeschool and work as a nanny four days a week, so I’m rarely away from my kids, but I would love some adult connection while the kids do a playdate or something. I’m starting to feel like all I do all day is entertain children because it is. 😂 I am pretty moderate politically (I have things from both sides I agree with) but I definitely lean left. I feel that’s important since the majority of people in Alabama lean right and we probably won’t get along if you voted for Trump. Also, I’m agnostic. I love hiking, playing sports, and camping but will just as soon go shopping or get our nails done while we try to keep our kids calm. I like art, psychology, reading, philosophy, and intellectual conversations, but I can and will also watch trash tv with you and hype you up about that bitch who did you wrong at work 😂 I’m just feeling a little lacking in adult connection around here and wondering how to find it. Being a single mom who homeschools is definitely a little isolating.

Where in Huntsville can one go to get a diagnosis for ADHD and get on meds without insurance and with low income? Is this something that falls under public health/public mental health? Thanks!

Does anyone know of a good place around here that does western riding lessons (specifically barrel racing)? Looking to get some private lessons as a gift for someone and I am unsure of anywhere around here still doing them. I’ve tried calling a few stables and haven’t heard back.

I’m looking to have an automatic transmission rebuilt (Chrysler 62TE), but am unfamiliar with shops in the local (within 1 hour drive) area of Huntsville/Madison. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable shop that charges reasonable rates for a full automatic transmission rebuild?

I was hoping to checkout it out but it doesn't look like it exists anymore. Anybody know anything about that?

It's clear we don't have enough homes and leasing is a scam. We need homes that people can own. Period. Can someone with more info please give me good news? Can we do something about this?

We have folks who was born in this city being replaced by outsiders looking for high end jobs. People who lived here for years can't afford to stay and we can't compete with those folks who come from tech states.

It feels like no one is talking about this? Or is this not a problem? Election time is over can we focus on our city again?

I’ve found that keeping the pilot light on and just using the switch to ignite the fire is a lot more convenient than relighting everything everytime I go to use the fire place.

Does anyone have recommendations for hiking groups to join? I would like to find one that skews younger if possible, I tried some of the land trust group hikes but most of the people that show up are seemingly 50 and older, and it would be nice to share this hobby with people closer to me in age (23)

We (normally 3-5 of us, sometimes 7-8 but that's rare) typically meet at restaurants and just order simple apps and try to let the waiter know that we're sorta just stealing space and to not check on us a bunch.

The list is reasonably short:

• not primarily a bar
• heated/cooled
• food, but no wait staff expecting tips

A nice to have would be a place that's the above + reasonably quiet, but I know I'm asking a lot at that point. I thought about Taco Bell but changed my mind at the last minute. ;)

My masonic lodge building is metal and my phone does not work inside. I can step outside and have all the data and cell signal I need. I am the lodge secretary and occasionally need to hotspot my phone to use my laptop since the lodge does not have internet service. I'm considering buying a signal booster with an antenna I can mount outside the building.

The confusion I'm having is to what booster type to buy. There are multiple options for Verizon, but they differ in what band they boost. The lodge is in a rural part of Limestone county, so my phone bounces back and forth from 4G to 5G.

Can one of you more tech savvy folks guide me in the right direction?

I have had migraines ever since i started birth control. I was on it for about 5 years. A year ago i got off of birth control thinking it would get rid of my migraines. Negative. I still have them multiple times a week. My mother also had this problem and went on a very low-dose birth control. So that has me thinking that this is more of a hormone thing. My doctor wants to put me on a everyday medication. Which I have been on before, but they just don’t work by the end of the day by the time the medication wears off. I’m always getting a migraine. Also, I don’t want to be dependent on a medication.

Has anyone had any experience with getting their hormones checked out? If you did, who did you go to who do you recommend? I am desperate at this point.

Hi all, I have lived in HSV for a little over 5 years now and have had Verizon the whole time. I am now entertaining moving to T-Mobile due to work discount, better international plans and in flight WiFi. I believe service is good around my home and my work, but am unsure how service is in Madison. Specifically near Hexagon. My wife works there and I don’t want to affect her signal strength while at work. Anyone work there that can attest to T-Mobile service inside the building?

If I remember correctly it helps single mothers in need. Does anyone know what I’m thinking of? I’m new in town this summer and would like to support some local charities and this was one I was very interested in.
