Exciting!!

Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I am so excited that I really wanted to share with someone (or someoneS) the news!

I planned on buying a pistol for home protection when I was 21 but that never happened due to a car accident and a few other situations along the way (including my past fear of them since I had no experience yet). Well, I was brought shooting by someone very close to me recently and it has sparked a love of something I didn't know I could have. So much information and so much fun and I am extremely excited for my future.

I went through and tried a bunch of different 9mm pistols to find the RIGHT one for me. As a female, this was hard to find the right one.... My end two that I decided between were the Glock 43x and the Canik Mete MC9. These two were practically identical when it came to grip, ease of use, safety features, etc. They are also pretty much identical in breakdown for cleaning! The reason the Glock didn't win for me mostly has to do with how well I shoot the Canik. Absolutely amazing. If anyone is interested to see the targets from my first time ever shooting, I will post it in the comments! I just figured someone would get a good smile knowing that another person has properly learned how to use firearms safely and now even has their CPL ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now if you have read to this point, I have a question that someone here may know the answer to ๐Ÿ‘€ I purchased my gun on Thursday, November 21st and filled my paperwork out that night. With Thanksgiving, my 10 day wait period should end Friday, December 6th, correct? Which means I would be able to pick up on the weekend since my shop is open then and the 10 business days are already over, it's just the pickup day (day 11) that is a weekend? Right? I work every day and this Sunday is my only day off for the next two weeks so I am very much hoping to pick it up then but I dont know if this is accurate...

If you know the answer, thank you! And if you've read this all, I appreciate your time. I like learning new things so if you have any random information, hit me with it!

Anywhere with a rentable .32 Walther PPK or PPK/S?

I know the .380 Walther PPKs are snappy and unpleasant to shoot but have heard good things about the .32 caliber ones. Does anyone know of any ranges in the area with one to try? Does anyone have experience with them and have any pros/cons to share? I know it's not the most practical gun to own but it's held a special place in my heart for a while now, and it returning in .32 seems like something I may want to jump on.

Looking in the South King County, Seattle or East side area but could travel farther if needed.

Thanks!

WA ATF says modifying firearms for compliance is ILLEGAL?! My FFL says I cannot transfer a rifle I had modified into compliance for WA State transfer after it came into shop. How do I go about returning a rifle that went through a compliance service? What should I even do in this situation?

So here's what happened: This has a lot of moving parts so please bear with me-

I discovered a middle man service that modify firearms into compliance for ban states. I had a back and forth discussion about the FN FNAR which is a variant of the Browing BAR MK III dbm rifle that doesn't have any "evil-features" except the FN FNAR has a buttstock with a pistol grip. I discovered the Browning BAR MK III buttstock is interchangeable and fits on to the FN FNAR so the middleman service said they would remove the pistol gripped buttstock and then ship the rifle to my FFL and said I should order the compliant buttstock to my home and put the stock on the firearm and go through with the transfer.

I talked to my FFL here in Washington and showed him a picture of the rifle I was trying to transfer and he gave me the go-ahead.

I ordered an FN FNAR rifle from Gunbroker and they had the rifle sent to the middleman service where they took off the buttstock and shipped the rifle to my FFL in Washington. I shipped the WA compliant buttstock to my home and was ready to put the buttstock on in the shop to have the transfer done.

Today, my rifle finally got sent into the shop and my FFL called me and told me to come into the shop. He said that since the rifle shipped into the shop with the stock removed he was not certain of the classification of the rifle and emailed the WA ATF agent. The WA ATF agent replied back to him and told him the FNAR is BANNED REGARDLESS of features, and cited a "rotating-bolt mechanism" as one of the reasons. Additionally, he said it would be illegal to transfer because an assault weapon cannot be modified into compliance. WHAT?! So my FFL told me he unfortunately cannot transfer the FNAR.

So my question is what should I do from here? I obviously have to return the rifle back to the shop I bought it from. But on Gunbroker the seller's website says "no returns." Obviously there are a lot of moving parts I have to explain but getting the rifle back together I can do.

The other option is my FFL here says I can get the rifle put back together and list it on Gunbroker and hope I can get my money back that way.

What do you guys suggest I do?

Looking for an FFL near Bellevue that will ship to Texas

I have a friend in Bellevue who wants to send me a gun. Iโ€™ve called around and havenโ€™t found an FFL that will ship out of state. Can anyone recommend one?

FFL transfer recommendation, Kent area

My usual FFL decided to stop doing transfers due to concerns related to changes in WA laws. Anybody have a FFL recommendation in the Kent/Auburn area who is still doing transfers?

Raincity handgun courses?

Has anyone taken the beginner handgun course at raincity? Myself, wife, and some friends in the Kent-ish area are looking for a good place that is running classes.

Seen a lot of talk of FAS and Insights, but curious if anyone has any experience with the local option?

What can I legally have?

I live in SW Washington. I'm not very well informed about guns, but I'm in the process of educating and arming myself for the purpose of home defense. My initial plan was for 3 weapons: a pistol (a Sig 9mm is on order and should arrive soon), a rifle, and a small shotgun.

Ideally, the rifle and shotgun should be reliable and preferably semi-automatic, but I'm running into what is (and is not) legal to buy and own in Washington.

"Assault Rifles" are out, but what might be a reasonable choice instead? I've seen references to Ruger 10/22 and Mini-14 rifles, but I need to know what features they need to have and which are forbidden. Barrel length and magazine size could be examples.

The shotgun may be in a similar situation - I'd like a 20 gauge with a magazine, and a "short" barrel, something like this: https://grabagun.com/firearms/shotguns/semi-automatic-shotguns/american-tactical-imports-bulldog-20-ga-16-barrel-3-chamber-5-rounds.html If this would be illegal, what can I buy that might serve the purpose?

I realize that I should maybe be talking to a gun store about all this, but I'd like to have some idea about which direction I need to go in before engaging in that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rimfire Folding Stocks Legality

I'm new to firearm ownership and would love to purchase a 10-22 breakdown with the Samson B-TM folding stock. I've read the AWB bill and found that certain cosmetic modifications only render a firearm an "assault weapon" if is a center fire rifle. I'm wondering what the legality of such a kit like this would be, and if anyone has any experience running this.

If this is legal, being new to firearms I'm kinda curious what else I would need to run this kit as a full gun and if y'all have any recommendations where to find the pieces I would need.

Thanks in advance for any help or feedback you can provide. Happy Shooting!!

Advice for first time firearm purchase

I am a woman in my 50โ€™s, new resident to Okanogan County, my home is located in a rural area. Starting to realize I need a rifle, mostly for dealing with the wildlife. The four legged kind, not the two legged. My question is about the semi-automatic rifle laws in Washington state. Tested a savage semi-automatic rifle, 22 caliber in California. Really liked it, will serve its purpose well. Is this rifle is illegal in Washington state? If so, how bad of a law did I break if purchasing out of state & then bringing it back?

Thank you in advanced for your reply.

Any Good places to sell guns in Wenatchee?

Iโ€™m looking to get rid of a handgun (Walther PDP compact). I bought a Glock 43x several months back and it took over EDC duties. The Walther just sits now so Iโ€™d like to get rid of it to free up some cash for a nice semi auto shotgun. I looked into selling it online via gunbroker, but that seems like a huge PITA! are there any good places in Wenatchee that can help me sell it?

Optics Planet

Disclaimer: I know optics planet isnโ€™t the best and hasnโ€™t been shipping most things to us, just looking for recent experiences

Anyone tried buying a scope recently from OP? I know they have not been shipping most things and they are not my first option, however theyโ€™ve got a scope Iโ€™ve had my eye on for a bit for $100 less than anywhere else online, and a $100 is $100 in terms of less money spent. Itโ€™s not branded as a MSR type optic or say AR in the description, but I also searched this morning and saw a post on here saying they wouldnโ€™t even ship binos to WA. Experiences?

What are the laws on antique firearms?

I just bought a Springfield 1892 Krag carbine and while It's sitting in Inslee jail for 20 days I realized that the rifle is almost certainly a Antique firearm.

I thought antique firearms were supposed to have more lenient laws when it came to purchasing.

I'm curious on how I could legally "own" a firearm at 19.

I have read some articles and tried watching a few videos, I will admit i'm slightly confused, I used to live in Seattle but I've spent the last few years in Texas. I'm currently 19, from what i've read I can't legally buy a firearm until 21 (which is the usual) but am I legally able to own one if it was gifted to me? Or could I purchase one at a private trade like you can in Texas. I'm personally speaking more about handguns than semi automatic rifles / shotguns / rifles.

Chances of HB 1240 being overturned

The entire law is bogus and I am wondering what the likelihood of HB 1240 being overturned is. Will the Trump admin take focus on Washington and sue our state for enforcing an unconstitutional ban? With what happened over in Illinois, my hopes are remain hopeful and and cautiously high.

It seems to me that whenever I read the news, current federal judges keep siding with the state and continue keeping the ban in place. When Trump actually takes office, will there be any chance a federal judge under his administration can battle our state?

Is there anything I can do myself to involve myself for 2A rights?

Is my dealer lying to me?

Context, I ordered a gun online and had it shipped to an FFL near my house. I went in and did all the paperwork on the 5th of Nov. Today (22nd) I went in to pick it up. The dealer says that I have to restart all the paperwork and the 10 day wait. I called every other store in the area to see if this is true and they all said the guy is full of it. He claims that he wasn't able to submit anything on the 5th ( but never called or told me). He's lied about a few things but I want to be able to prove it before posting a review.

Bowie knife

So my girlfriend recently bought me a Bowie knife and I was wondering what the laws are for it. I tried to find answers online but it was either contradicting information or confusing.

It is a 14 inch Bowie knife and I know you can't carry one over a certain length but here's where I found contradicting information. Multiple websites claimed that you can carry a Bowie knife so long as it is visibly on the hip in a sheath. I also saw it can depend on the county you're in. If it's any help at all, I am in pierce county. Am I able to carry it around as long as it's not concealed?
