Does anyone know if there are any local shops that carry the 5" Springfield Operator AOS in .45?

I've been looking going to websites and no one seems to have it. I've seen it in 9mm on Brads guns website but I haven't had any luck with anyone else.

For the record, I've been looking at getting a new 1911 and just settled on this one so I haven't had a chance to actually go to the any gunshops yet. I will, but in the off chance someone knows a place, it would just save me some time because I can never seem to get a shop to order something for me it's just what's in store they try to sell. So if anyone knows a shop that is order friendly too, that would also be appreciated.

I've been out of the loop on firearms for a bit and trying to get back up to speed. I found this handy flowchart that says my Benelli M4 which came with a pistol grip (as seen here) is now considered an assault weapon. I have a few questions about that. I understand that likely no one here is a lawyer, but I am hoping for some help navigating this new (to me) puzzle:

1. Is my assessment correct that it is considered an assault weapon?
2. Given that I already own it and do not intend to sell it, is there anything I can / cannot do? Such as take it to a range, hunt, shoot trap, etc? Effectively other that trying to sell it is there anything I cannot do?
3. If I were to modify the firearm to add an adjustable stock at this stage, (another action that I think would have classified it as an assault weapon) would that be legal? I am assuming that would be legal to perform on a weapon that is already an "assault weapon" in my possession?

I would like to gift (bona fide real gift) my son one of my 22 handguns to use at college with their competitive team. He is over 18, yet under 21. I believe that I understand the possession restrictions but I am not quite clear on whether he would be restricted from flying back with it since he would have to possess it at the airport to check it in with TSA. Originally given to me as a gift in Florida my original home. Moved up here and still trying to figure out the laws. Am I able to order any parts freely at all? It’s a stripped ar 15 lower, does this fall under the assault weapon restrictions or since I owned it before 2022 that is classified as the firearm so I can buy any parts I need? Moving from a state that doesn’t hate guns makes getting used to this a damn headache…

I picked up a 22 the other day, but I mistakenly got it with WMR aka .22 Magnum.

Am I correct to understanding that regular .22 LR is much easier found and cheaper?

Does it make sense to stock up on WMR OR abandon ship and get a second .22 LR for long term ease of use and ammo accessibility?

Curious what others think here. When stocking up on ammo for prepping I tend to buy whatever cost effective ball/range ammo in 1k round quantities I can. In my mind an apocalypse happens a bullet is a bullet.

However, many talk about “cheap ammo” or ball or range ammo as if it’s garbage. So what do they do spend $$$$$ on stocking up on thousands of rounds of high quality stuff?

I recognize the differences between penetration capabilities, reliability, and other “features” of quality ammo vs range ammo. But I can also say of the thousands of rounds of range ammo I’ve shot over the years reliability has almost never been an issue.

So again, what do you all stock up on for your prepping supply and why?

EDIT TO CLARIFY: asking about rationale of bulk range ammo vs “quality” ammo, not what caliper you stock up on. Ie do you have an issue with stockpiling range ammo as part of your prepping or save for higher quality stuff. And if so why?

Had to vent here lmao. So we live out in Olalla. 11 acre farm, woods for miles and miles all around. I have recently started training my wife how to shoot same as I was in the military (less yelling and cussing though). Today I had her shoot my AR, I will admit it is a 7.5 in barrled loud mouth. About 8 min after we are done shooting I get a call from the sheriff asking if I was shooting (I have my CPL, and a couple buddies that are sheriff's so calling isn't odd). Come to find out a neighbor much further down our road called the cops about shooting. I'm sure if I wouldn't have had her shoot my loud mouth damned AR and stuck with her 9mm or my 9mm, it would have been fine. Yet now I am suuuuuuuper pissed off they called the cops. I invited the sheriff's down to the range to check it out. They said, "You have more than enough space for shooting and have built a really dense back stop." I also found out my parcel and the rest on my road are zoned as no firing zones. All other space around us is white and not orange on the map. Inherited this farm from my Dad and have been shooting out here my whole life. I can only assume it's the tesla drivers that moved here from Seattle and tried to get all of us to put money together to have our very long dirt road. Myself and the other people put here declined as we like stuff the way it is. Gotta love it, wished people would stick to less rural areas if they don't want all of what backwoods or country life entails. Now, it looks like no shooting behind the barn at the range I built over the course of a year. (Edited for spelling errors, shut up I haven't had my crayons today)

TL;DR Newish neighbors suck ass and just ruined the fun for all of us out here.

Let's be real here. Aero Precision has turned their back on us. They don't deserve our support. Now people outside of this state can't even get what they ordered from them in a timely manner or in working condition. So the question is how much longer do they stay in business? Do they bounce to a different state? Is it a good thing if they do die off?

Wondering if anyone could share FFLs in the state that have transferred Fixed Mag DS-15s (could be just the lower or complete rifle) or might even have some in stock to save me waiting on shipping. Thanks.

30+ years ago, a co-worker needed cash, so I bought his rifle. Figured he'd buy it back when he had money again, but that never happened. Cleaned it, oiled it, put it in a case, and forgot all about it. I've never put a single round through it myself.

As I understand it, current law is I can only sell this to a dealer who would be exporting it out of the state, is that correct? Quite a change from paying cash in the company parking lot 30+ years ago...

Context: I’m self taught(sure classes and what not back in the day…) my dad had a slug bore 12g in the closet that he took my siblings and I out once to shoot. Wife is allowing me two starter options, amongst what we have(I stopped counting at 30, but these are the two she nodded at). A right hand eject Henry golden boy, or a savage bolt with 4x scope(also right hand).

I’d like to teach irons first, but left hand left eye might be tricky, I don’t know!

Just bought this 43x online, and been watching a lot of videos on accessories and stuff of that nature.

I figured I'd ask you guys from around here what you've found that works well, such as holsters, sights, ammo etc.

I know, I know, "Why would you want to shoot these trash birds?" but hear me out: Creole Coot Gumbo.

Made it earlier this season with random ducks from my freezer, but the gumbo recipe I used originally called for coot. With a 25 bird a day limit, I figure if I plan a day or two of hunting a high coot traffic area next season would give me enough mud hens to make gumbo year round!

Since they're not a bird anyone really wants, would any of you guys be willing to share your spots where you've seen a bunch of them? Willing to trade some hunts on my lease in return.
