Subreddit Rules
Remain on topic and be respectful to others. Avoid abusive language and slurs. We encourage any and all lawful discussions of California firearms and related laws.
Don't incriminate yourself or others by what you post; for example, refrain from posting images of non-CA compliant rifles, as others may assume that you own an illegal "assault weapon". Do not discuss or promote illegal activity.
All advertising, selling, or trading of firearms, ammunition, or accessories is completely prohibited. This includes jokes. No price checks, no asking where to sell guns.
We're here not only to discuss but to educate; users may not have seen previous posts so we highly encourage re-posts rather than forbid them and recommend waiting at least a week before re-posting. In addition, there is no such thing as a stupid question. Ask away.
Follow Reddit's rules and have a pleasant stay!
The 4 Rules of Gun Safety ("The 4 Rules")
Treat all guns as if they're loaded (even when you know they aren't).
Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
Know your target and what is beyond it (avoid any and all collateral damage).

Does anyone know which of the XR-MR-DR920 are coming to the roster ?
Foundation or Elite series?
I have a non compliant AK rifle out of state with my parents but I would like to bring it to California when I return from my next visit. What would I have to do to make it compliant. This is not my first rifle I have a few ARs just want to make sure that my AK is correct.
Geissele super duty build kit to bypass Governor Nuisance’s 20% sin tax
The short article only mentioned opening for hunting and “other recreational activities,” while smoking, campfires, and motor vehicle use is prohibited.
Does target shooting qualify as “other recreation?”
Either way, there is a lot of BLM and public land behind those yellow gates that will be accessible now too.
Sig p320 x full Holosun scs 320 (green dot) Olight mini ( I think) lol Talon pro grip
Been wanting a CZ SP-01 for a long time now, it was the next gun I was going to get, but I wasn't planning on it for a few more months. Guess we'll see if it gets to my FFL and passes jail in time. At least PSA beat Turners price by over $100
I prefer to shop from smaller stores and support local business. Any places to get ammo, cleaning suppplies, cases, holsters etc? Preferably a place only interested in sales and not advertising or discussing political stuff. I’m near UCLA and didn’t want to go into a valley.
I want to buy my first gun with the main purpose of having something in the event that there is civil unrest .etc.
My original thought was that I wanted that M&P FPC, the reason is I want to be able to conceal my gun in a normal looking backpack not something tactile and this folds to do that. It also has2 additional 10 round clips in the stock.
I also want to be able to have some fun shooting, I know 9mm is cheaper.
Everyone is telling me to go .556, initially I wanted a mini14 because I was so accurate but I guess not
I unfortunately live in the Bay Area so it’s not easy.
Basically if you were in California what would you get that’s concealable? Do you like the fnp or should I start off with 556. Or even something else all together.
I would appreciate feedback
Order was placed on 30th and shipped the 31st. I was really on the fence and glad I gave in.
Due to work reasons, I may need to relocate to CA, and I don't have a choice.
I recently just got an SBR AR-15 with a suppressor. I also have a Shadow Systems MR920 with a threaded barrel. I searched online and know it is not going to be an easy process.
Is it possible to bring my two guns to CA? What are some pointers and things I need to do? Thanks in advance!
I’m new here and I wanted to know which guns to buy that do not lose much value?
Thank you in advance
has anyone recently received their ccw thru lapd? calguns being down makes it hard to stay updated and not many people are posting about their process.
was wondering if anyone has had their interview scheduled recently and when you applied.
trying to see where lapd currently stands in the queue. seeing other people’s timelines keeps me sane while i wait for my turn.
thanks!
If you had a Sig p365 (CA edition) with a couple mags, would you switch grip modules or just buy some xtech tactical mag extenders and call it a day?
finished up the green one right before glocktober ended.. the one off the side is a bb gun. i forgot to include my Glock 81 in the pic and im too lazy to redo it🙃
I saw post here that the cz is being removed of the roster and I’ve been planning on buying it after a few months once I’m caught up with payment but now I feel like I should get it now since it might not be back in stock. What’s your guys opinion? Is the cz gone off the roster and get the gun now or wait it out?
Hey guys, I was playing Tetris with my ammo and put all this on top of a bed layer of 100rd 9mm boxes. Do y'all think 24 pounds distributed over the bed of ammo is gonna fuck up the brass 😭 I visually inspected some random cartridges from the bed layer and they looked fine
Hello,
I recently purchased my first firearm (P320) and is still currently sitting in jail. When I spoke to my sales representative, he told me I would also be able to pick up a rifle if I was to purchase one.
I’m a bit confused with the 1 in 30 day rule. Would I be able to purchase a rifle within 30 days of my handgun purchase or would I get denied to pick it up once it’s ready?
I’m also reading shotguns are exempt from that? is that also true?
Thank you
Picked up my P365 last week and submitted my order for the 3 free mags (Sig promo) on the same day. Mags just came through earlier this afternoon. 😄
Happy Halloween y'all!
Finally got my wbp Jack it’s got such a smooth action and it’s beautiful !
Went to my local lgs that was running 15% of cz and got denied for being off roster.
Prices are right but communication sucks. I email them docs. They gave me some vague instrunctions on how to select shipping at checkout that doesnt actually work on their website. I emailed them back and never got a response.
Moved to California recently (been a resident for ~3 months) and want to purchase my first firearm. I've been to ranges before and shot various rifles, and had a great time.
I've seen so much conflicting information online that it's been difficult to make sense of it. Could someone explain, is it legal in CA to buy a semi-automatic AR-pistol? Is it ok if it has the mag lock that regular ARs need to have? I keep seeing bolt action ones that I have no interest in.
