Them deers

I have a herd in my neighborhood that some neighbors keep feeding them, including from their cars, my mom hit one when she was visiting the other week because it just walked out in front of her car while she was driving slowly to watch them, so I’ve taken it upon myself to give them a reason to not approach people and cars

THCA Flower in GA is it legal or not?

I'm trying to figure out if THCA flower is legal in GA or not. I was getting it shipped to my house from an online vendor and then they said they had to stop. My smoke shop still sells it but they have a bunch. I've found a few other vendors still selling it online as well. I'm wondering is it stil safe to order, and what is the exact law that changed the status of THCA flower?

Hurricane damages near Blue Ridge and the Black Rock Mountain

Hello, my mom scheduled a trip from down in Florida to drive up and camp in black rock mountains during the later weekend of thanksgiving break. My step-mom brought up a valid concern about damages from the two recent hurricanes still, and our ignorance of people who might still be affected by the hurricanes. My question is, are the local communities still hurt by the hurricanes near blue ridge and the black rock mountain, and would tourism hurt them further? Would it still be ok to travel or should I try to convince my mom of otherwise? Thanks

Starting an HVAC company, need a qualifier!

Edit: I’m in the state of Georgia Metro at Atlanta area!

Hello, I’m a college business grad who picked up an hvac job to get me through college. Well, working in hvac has paid more than any job I’ve had post or pre-college and now I’ve decided to start my own business.

I went to college a little late (started at 26 graduated at 31 and now I’m 34) and I’ve been in the hvac industry 3 years. I love it so much but I’m also tired of getting jerked around by private equity companies, so I’m looking to start my own business. My only problem is, I can’t currently sit for the CA exam because

  1. I don’t have 4 years in the industry

2.im a salesperson so I don’t have install experience ( but I’d like to)

So I thought I’d turn here. I’m looking for a qualifier to either be hands on and partner up with me in starting a business or hands off and collect passive income by being my qualifier.

Don’t want to get too deep, but I have investors ready so start-up and financial backing will be handled by me. Licensing is the only thing I’m missing.

If interested let me know here or dm me.

Also all advice on jumping into the hvac business is welcome. So don’t be shy

OBGYNs and IUD suggestions

Hi all,

I’m looking into getting an IUD, however, I have a really bad pain tolerance and the insertion itself stresses me out at just the thought of it. My OBGYN (in Athens) does not provide any kind of sedation or numbing agent (like lidocaine).

Does anyone in this sub know of an OBGYN in Georgia that does use some sort of sedation/numbing for IUD insertions? I’m willing to travel. Bonus points if it’s in Augusta as I have family around there. Thanks y’all.

Radicals in Columbia County attempting shadow bans of children's books!

If these guidelines are approved, it will impact more than just Columbia County. Please read, watch, and sign the petition. Contact your local library and boards to show your support for parent's rights to determine what their own children can access in the public libraries.

Garden / Landscaping Help

Just bought our first home, and she came with some beautiful landscaping. I really enjoy taking care of my own yard and what not, however I don’t know nothin about keeping the flora alive and well. Anyone know of a nursery or someone around the Paulding/Cobb area who does site visits and can consult on how to best care for my plants and what not?

To be clear: I’m not looking for a landscaping service. I need someone to learn me up so I can do it myself.

Beware when switching to Georgia Natural Gas - Credit check is a hard pull

Unlike most other gas marketers, Georgia Natural Gas performs a hard pull on your credit file to determine if a deposit is needed. This stays on your credit report for 2 years, although the impact is negligible after a year. Scana, which does a soft pull, got my business with a better rate as well.

Is anyone aware of the AGL base fees for gas in GA

Is anyone else out there enraged by the cost of gas services in GA. I don't mean the rate per therm, that pretty much is a rounding error compared with the outrageous AGL base fees and add ups in everyone's bills.

The base cost of natural gas in Georgia, as regulated by Atlanta Gas Light (AGL), is a significant burden for consumers. AGL’s monthly base charge for residential customers is almost $40, which is a fixed fee regardless of the amount of gas used. This is compounded by additional charges for meter reading, peaking services, environmental response, and franchise recovery, which together add up to more hidden costs.

It's crazy and why no lawmaker is looking to help us consumers with this burden? I get that there's a cost associated to bringing gas to my residence, but it definitely shouldn't be this much from everyone every month and IT SHOULD BE RELATED TO YOUR GAS CONSUMPTION! Who is looking into where all this money is going?

How will GA public schools be affected if the Federal Department of Education is eliminated?

Not trying to start a huge political discussion, despite the topic being inherently political. Just trying to figure out how the state’s public schools will manage if Trump’s promise to shut down the DoE goes through.

How much funding will be lost or have to move to state/local sources? What are some other ramifications beyond finances that could come to pass? How likely is this scenario?

Since we don’t have the means to send our kid to a private school, we’re pretty much gonna have to ride out whatever changes are coming. Just wondering how others (parents or professionals) are anticipating what’s ahead.

Struggling to get my erroneously paid withholding tax in Georgia from 2 years ago. Any routes I can take?

Hi everyone,

I'm having a bit of a nightmare situation with the Georgia Department of Revenue. My company erroneously paid withholding taxes out of my salary to Georgia in 2022, I live and work in a state without state tax, but my company has a big office in Georgia and somehow had me working there in their system erroneously. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until shortly after the year was over, so the company couldn't reverse this anymore so they issued me a W2C and I had to go the tax return route. Initially it worked out and they sent me a check for the correct amount, which I couldn't cash due to a mistake in the check. After months trying to get a correct check, they sent me a recalculation notice saying that I did owe those withholding taxes to GA, so they won't be paying that back (I guess they found this easier than correcting the check). Over the last year, I have been trying to resolve this and every time I call them, there is a different excuse why they haven't retracted the re-calculation, it's always some document, form or information that they are missing from me or my company, which we have always fulfilled, but every time I call back, there is something else. I am trying to fulfill the latest request now, but it has gotten ridiculous since long time ago and I don't know what alternatives to take. Its a significant amount at stake, but I feel like if I involve a tax lawyer, I'll end up spending all what I was supposed to get back. Are there any alternatives that I can take? e.g. Advocacy groups in Georgia? Some kind of Ombudsman/Ombudsperson? I've seen some people recommend contacting local representatives, however, I am not a constituent of GA. Thank you for your advice!

Mental health facilities

I'm helping a friend out that's in a hard place. She's looking for an inpatient facility for her son. He's 18 and very aggressive with autism. She can find some for aggression and one for autism, but not for both. Anywhere in the Atlanta area, even 1 1/2 -2 hrs away.

Looking for Information/Relatives

This is probably a long shot but I thought it would be interesting. This is Effie Gilchrist McPaul. She had her picture made in December of 1923. I found her in an antique shop in Manchester, GA.

I would love to learn more about her. If you know who she was or might have been a relative, let me know what you know about her?

Unemployment questions..

A few weeks ago my job cancelled all hours for TWO weeks due to the hurricanes. Because of that two weeks of work missing, I was not able to keep my promise to pay for my car loan and they repossessed my vehicle ultimately making it impossible to get back and forth to work.

Can I file unemployment? Since it necessarily wasn’t my fault?

Gift Basket for the Holidays

Hi. Where can I buy a gift basket for my boss for the holidays? My budget is $50-$80 (shipping fee not included).

I'm not from GA, or USA, so I don't know which places are legitimate.

I already gave hear a tea sampler set from Tea Forte for her birthday, and I don't like gifting flowers because it's not practical. I've also already tried a gift basket from Sensational Baskets.

Please help. Thank you!

Thanksgiving

This is the first Thanksgiving me and my 4 children have had without a home. We are currently residing with a family member and it’s not the best situation. This thanksgiving will be my daughter’s 17th birthday. Where could we go in Georgia or Alabama for thanksgiving to make this memorable and make the best out of the situation? I have money but I am far from Rich. As long as we have each other everything is ok. Thanks so much!

Things to do near North Georgia Wildlife Park and Safari Park in Cleveland in Dec/Jan

We're trying to plan a trip to Noga right after Christmas but don't know what's around there worth visiting or what Helene damaged. We both spent many years living in Georgia, although other than a couple of trips to nearby Helen, that's just not a part of the state we know anything about. Googling hasn't really shown any options. Also, we're really coming up short on if places like Helen are still recovering.
