Looking for some firewood for my fire pit as weather cools Any local source rrxommended?
Can anyone recommend a derm that actually specializes in hair loss?
I was in downtown on first friday and saw this new indian restaurant opening up, it looks really good and I talked to the owner, he’s a nice british guy whos really enthusiastic about the new place. Have y’all heard much about it?
I have a family medical emergency and need to get my mom, brother, and me to Athens sometime over the next several days. We don’t have a car nor an easy way to rent a car to get there ourselves. Are there any local churches, charities or organizations who could shuttle us there? It will be a one-way trip with minimal luggage with us.
Still new to the area, and with how Helene hit us I have to ask. Are there any concerns at the moment and Milton here in the golden isles?
I live out in Brantley (Waynesville) but I do all my shopping in Brunswick and I do DoorDash out that way, but I haven't been into town since the hurricane hit. Looking to come to town and do delivery possibly Friday and/or Saturday, probably pick up some groceries and things afterward.
Is most everything back up and running? Any major areas still down that I should know about? Do most of the restaurants have power again? Any info I can get ahead of time will be helpful.
Last night Ga Power updated their map to show approximate times for power restoration. Hopefully those on REA and Satilla have similar updates for their power returning. It shouldn't be long.
How is everyone doing? My area seems to be swish cheese of people having/not having power. A friend of mine in the city proper said they lost power for 10 mins and it's been up ever since. Is there word on when we can expect power to be restored?
Alright I’m back! Looking for some good spots/tips to catch some clams in the area. If you got any lemme know, thanks!
Hello! My name is Jabari Gibbs and I’m a reporter with The Current GA, Georgia’s only nonprofit investigative newsroom. I’m working on an investigation into employee experiences at the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office and am looking to speak with someone who has worked there in the last 3-4 years.
If that’s you or someone you know, I want to hear from you. Let me know your experiences in the comments below or via DM. Your responses could help inform my reporting.
Thank you!

So I saw an article today that says the Glynn Co. DA isn't trying cases for juveniles because of a lack of funds. I've got a solution to that problem.
I was born in Brunswick, at the "Glynn Brunswick Memorial Hospital" but at 5 years old we moved to Cobb county (up near Atlanta). So the cops up in Cobb used to do this thing where they'd roll out to a random school every day, 3 or 4 of them, and they'd start tagging people for speeding through active school zones. Those tickets are expensive AF, and nearly indefensible in court. Good revenue source. And they'd have 3-5 cars pulled over at one time waiting in line to get tickets written. On each end of the zone.
Another thing that could be done is set up some red light cameras on specific lights: Altama Connector & Altama Ave; Altama Conn. & GA 25 Spur; Altama Ave. & GA 25 Spur; Altama Ave & 4th Street; Chapel Crossing Rd & US Highway 17; GA 25 Spur & Canal Rd; GA 25 Spur & Chapel Crossing Rd; GA 25 Spur & Scranton Rd. Any of these lights would pay for the camera system in a week, and continue to generate revenue for some time because people treat all these red lights, currently, like a suggestion.
Also, they could enforce handicap parking, and just have a cop roll through the parking lot where Publix is every so often and start writing tickets for everyone parked in the fire lane from Papa John's down to China One.
You know what you almost never see? A Glynn county cop pull someone over north of 4th street for traffic violations. I watched a person run a red light in front of a cop, the cop had to brake to let them through then just rolled right on through the intersection like he didn't almost just get hit by a person running a red light. I was sitting on Altama at the Spur red light one day, waiting to head north through the intersection (like I'm heading towards Target) and, despite the fact that my light turned green to proceed straight, the opposite turn lane had 13 cars run the damn left turn light. 6 pairs of cars in the 2 turn lanes, then 1 straggler behind all of them. I was driving past the new Altama Elementary one day not long into its first semester and I'm doing 25 mph, because it's an active school zone. There's kids out on the sidewalks, there's a small group on the median waiting to walk across, kids everywhere. This black truck runs up behind me in the right lane then flies over into the left lane and proceeds to do at least 45 or 50 down the road. One dumb kid is all it would have taken for there to be tragedy, 'cause no way he'd have reacted in time.
TL;DR: Glynn county has a serious lack of traffic enforcement, and shoring that up would be an amazing revenue generator for the county, along with making it much safer to drive in. Because currently I feel like the majority of drivers are okay with getting to Walmart, or the ER, and they truly don't care which.
It’s information dense but this documentary about Jekyll island is a must watch. Giant Indians? Maybe from ancient Assyria? The federal reserve is shitty AND evil??
Hey, everyone! I’m taking online photography and my final project will be to do a photo essay of my choosing, and I’ve chosen to do a photowalk of the Golden Isles. I know I want to photograph around Jekyll, St. Simons, and downtown Brunswick, but where would be the best location to snap a photo of the Sidney Lanier?
Any other suggestions for places and things to photograph would also be appreciated!
I just read in the courier journal that the AVERAGE salary for a UPS driver is 170k! Now, I realize GA doesn't pay like that, but would be interested in knowing how far off we are from the national avg. I read where they are cutting 12k jobs this year, with 75% already finalized. Horrible what this economy is doing the job market. However, maybe they could replace the customer service people who are lucky enough to work in air conditioning all day, but have zero people skills with some of this poor drivers who spend every summer dripping sweat all day. Some of the people behind the desk act like they are doing you a favor to make eye contact. I hate going in that place!
Brunswick is beautiful day or night. One of my favorite spots is the pier, especially at night. It's the best place and time to get high. I'm loner and it just really does it for me.
Son just loved here. We found a nice used couch but need a truck for a hour. Looks like home depot doesn't do the hourly pickup rental anymore. Do yiu know of any services that will pickup and deliver an item locally. Doesn't seem worth it to rent an entire moving van.
Hi there, me and my fiancée are pretty new to the city still and we’re looking for the best Mexican place in town. We tried Cilantros and thought it was ass lol. So looking for recommendations on a good spot in town (:
What are some good places within 30 minutes that are easy to get a kayak into the water?
Hello, is there any car communities or group around the area? Just looking for car meets, late drives and filming around.
Hey! We are looking at moving back to Brunswick. My Husband grew up there and wants to retire there. We’ve gotten conflicting information on neighborhoods. It looks like some of the houses are being renovated. Crime rates online look scary. Do you feel safe in Brunswick? Are there some areas where you would not live? Thank you!
Hey everyone! I've never really wanted to talk about this, but I know there are at least 2 other witnesses. Maybe someone who worked as an officer, fire or EMS might know.
It was the summer of 2003 and I was driving south on Highway 17 from Darien to Brunswick. When I got just past the entrance to New Hope Plantation, something drew my attention up to the sky to my left above the tree line.
My first thought was "Oh no, not again." It appeared to be burning wreckage, a large object completely engulfed in flames. My first thought was an airplane, as 9/11 had occurred just 2 years prior. I pulled over and stopped to watch - it was massive, on fire, moving EXTREMELY slow, and on an acute angular trajectory parallel to the road, from north to south. I looked ahead of me and 2 other cars with their headlights on had slowed down.
I braced myself for a flash, a boom, a forest fire, possibly people needing assistance, something. Nothing. It just went behind the tall pines continuing on. Nothing caught fire that I could see. It felt like forever waiting to see what was going to happen next. Nothing. Silent the entire time.
I called my mother (had a Nokia phone at the time) and she said get my ass home and whatever I was smoking "don't do it here." I was alarmed, I told her I swore I saw what I saw, I asked should I call it in? She said no, people would think I was nuts.
I went through the newspapers the next day, nothing. Radio, nothing. It was an object 4 times the size of my car, possibly larger. No magnesium flares like meteorites do, no light streak. I'd estimate it was going about 20 mph which is what also made it so weird.
I've never been able to free this experience from my mind. I hope someone here knows something.
