I'm an international student and I rented a room from a girl (American) in an apartment complex. Now she wants me out of her unit by Monday and she's refusing to refund my November rent.
I was considering calling the cops but at the same time, trying to manage the situation without involving a third-party.
Please someone should advice me
Long shot but community would be nice especially this weekend. Any local spots? Business to support? I know ATL has some but anything closer? Thank you in advice and please stay safe.
*If you’re just going to be rude, please don’t.
Are there any volunteer opportunities tomorrow, November 9th?
Looking for a place with fairly low prices? Any info will help, thanks!
Is there an alt scene here? I remember once while at the saturday market downtown some girls handed me a flyer for a punk concert and I wasnt able to go at the time but wish that I did because I haven’t been able to find any fellow punks or emos like me in the city. Any help?
I have a larger dog (blue heeler/saint Bernard) and was needing to get him a general checkup, get his boosters, and maybe check for allergies. Anyone know some good vets with decent prices? Moved from Indiana and needed a new place to go to.
Our weekly Friday ColumbusGAmes post has changed! Welcome to Friendly Fridays!
Note: new friend-seeking posts will be deleted and redirected to this thread. Let's make it easier to find each other!
Friendly Fridays is the place to find and connect with like-minded people and make new friends. Feeling lonely? See who wants to meet up! Feeling chatty? Meet your neighbors! Ready to game? Start a party or share your gamertag! Know of any current clubs or meet ups that could use some new faces? Post it here! Columbus is a wonderfully diverse city and full of great people. This post is designed to make it easier to find each other.
Please use your best judgment, be law abiding, and be safe when making plans to meet new people; feel each other out first, don't be a creep, be legit, etc.
Anyone know of a hobby shop here in Columbus?
I might have the term wrong due to possible colloquial usage.
Looking for a place I can have access to a vehicle lift for maintenance without having to pay a shop for the labor.
We've seen an influx of 'seeking friends' posts cropping up again. After speaking with the other mods, we have decided to allow these types of posts, but on new terms. We will restrict this type of content to our former ColumbusGAmes weekly post. The post has been updated and will now be called Friendly Fridays. This will be your place to search for friends and like-minded people. After the first Friendly Fridays post goes live, all future 'friend finding' posts will be removed and the posters directed to the Friendly Fridays post. All game related content should continue to be posted to the Friday post as well.
We hope you all utilize the new space to find new friends and new people to game with.
Please note: the rule still stands on hookup posts. Such post will continue to be barred from this sub.
After speaking with the other mods about the influx of post election discussion and arguments therein, we have decided to temporarily ban these discussions on r/ColumbusGA. Unfortunately this comes as several users have proven unable to check their hysteria or anger at the door and have gone on to post some extremely distasteful posts or comments about their fellow neighbors.
r/ColumbusGA is a place for neighbors to meet and discuss topics about Columbus, GA. It is not a place to rip up opposing political candidates, to tear each other down, or divide one another. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to have mature and respectful conversations about political topics from either side. Some people are happy about the result while others are understandably distraught. No need to fuel the flames of division further.
This ban is intended to be temporary until everyone has a chance to process and move on from the immediate news of the election. If we see new posts or comments asking questions about the election that are intended to antagonize or tear down each other, we will move to remove those posts/comments as well as ban the offending user(s).
Reminder about our Subreddit rules which are always in effect!
Rule 2: Be respectful and courteous. These are your neighbors.
Rule 3: This sub is for posting news and content about Columbus, GA and the Chattahoochee Valley/surrounding area. Please refrain from posting unrelated content.
Rule 4: Trolling is not tolerated. Those suspected of trolling will be banned.
Rule 6: Posts that are not related to Columbus, GA or that are meant to antagonize users of any sex, gender, race, sexual orientation, etc will be removed and the user may be banned.
We encourage everyone to utilize the report button if you feel someone is breaking the rules so that we are notified and can handle the situation.
Thank you and Everyone Love Everyone,
The Mods
Hi, I (20F) just got out of a three year abusive relationship; it was very controlling and I wasn’t allowed to make friends or go out. Needless to say, I’ve never felt more alone in my life now that I realize he was my only friend. Just wanted to come on here and give this a shot since I’ve seen success for others recently. I’m into gardening, cooking, crocheting and making crafts in general. Please reach out if you want!
I’d like to support our local businesses but I just don’t know how. Please ever so kindly provide your preferred shops/services that are solely women owned or solely owned by BIPOC in the local Columbus GA and Phenix City AL areas.
What did we vote for on this?
Did we really vote 60% for property tax increase?
Like the title says, does anyone know of any new updates regarding the construction on 13th street? I thought there was supposed to be a grocery store but haven’t seen any news about it yet. Remember hearing there was rumors of Publix coming there. Live at the apartments nearby so was curious to see.
Just curious if there are any local fans of the band Bastille on here /o\ haven’t had luck finding anyone local who likes them
Just need to make sure I’m set up for next month’s rent while I weigh my options moving into a new position in the next 6 months.
Who would hire quickly and not be hurt when I need to move on to the next job after 5-6 months? No specific industry or job type is off limits, beggars can’t be choosers. I just need some advice since I have not seen Columbus due to always working out of town the past 1.5 years.
If it matters: 4 year college degree, 1.5 years career work and about 5 years of part time and seasonal work experience in everything from machining to tour guiding to forest management.
Hello! I'm posting this again because it's been a little bit, but I used to clean houses in Dothan, Alabama and just recently moved up here. I do free initial looks at the house and will bring my own cleaning supplies. If anyone is interested just lmk!
Hey, I'm a 29(F)...been living in the area for about 2 years now. Surprisingly, I haven't met many people to connect with...mainly due to my working remotely since moving here. I decided to hop on Reddit and see if I could find any groups or anything related to the area. That being said, are any women between the ages of 27 and 33 looking to meet new people? I'm definitely down with connecting and maybe even starting a small group for us to gather and just hang out. Lmk if you're interested!
Can someone let me know who they’d recommend to cater a Christmas party with 50 guests?
I'm in AL, so I had to wait for today. It wasn't well communicated that polls would open at 8 EST and not 7 EST. Thought since the Phenix City area ran on EST, things would be different, but I guess not. (first time voting in AL) Got there at 6:20 am and waited an hour and 40 minutes. My husband and I were some of the first in line. The line had to stretch 1/4 a mile when the polls opened based on my poor estimate skills. It was LONG. Had some people cut in line too. But ultimately got my vote in just fine. Happy Election Day! Get out and VOTE!
Welcome to the Fountain City's weekly discussion post! A place for anything you'd like to talk about or ask, but don't want to make a post for.
It's also our virtual yardsale, where you may connect with someone nearby who may want what you don't. Including a picture of what you are trying to part with improves those chances. Please keep in mind the rules and tips in this link.
Hey everyone! NAMI Columbus has a Christmas party coming up on December 7th. Does anyone have any recommendations to feed 50 people?
I know there's things like the skating rink/arcade, but what do y'all think Columbus is missing?
Are there any election watch parties taking place Tuesday night?
I do not need full encapsalation. I just need a new moisture barrier laid. Does anyone have an recommendations as to who could do that? I talked with AFS today and they said they don't do just that.
I ride a sport touring bike, just looking for some buddies to ride with at any and odd hours.
Hit me up!
Are there any businesses/bars/restaurants that have a Photo Booth in Columbus? Need one for an art project
