Is Something Wrong? Let us know.
/r/falcons
There is obviously a lot that still needs to be done with this trash ass team but what changes are the most realistic for after this season? Do you think we fire terry? Do we bench Kirk a year early? Do we fire any of the coaching staff?
My predictions currently are fire terry fontenot. fire jimmy lake. Raheem will stick with kirk cuz he believes our new found defense can hold the opponent back enough for kirk to finish the games with a win. Penix finally starts indefinitely around week 5 or 6 after Raheem finally accepts Kirk is not starter worthy
Hear me out for a second.
Sometimes change doesn't happen unless it's compelled to happen. This year is a wash, therefore we need to figure out on ways to improve next year.
The way this team is built right now is not conducive to a SB run next year, let alone being competitive in the playoffs.
If we lose to a Ridder led Raiders, I think this would be the perfect rationale to get rid of Kirk, RM, & TF.
-The Revenge of Ridder
-Kirk's Potential Resurgence
-Kirk's Potential Downfall
-Falcons Stealing Penix from the Raiders
-Brock Bowers vs Hometown Team
-Mark Davis' Haircut
Add your thoughts to the list.
If Ridder has a better stat line than Cousins tonight, I don't know how the Falcons can continue to start him. It'll be all over ESPN and the sports shows- how ATL is so bad, they drafted Ridder and cut him after poor play, only to replace him with a $140 million 36-year old replacement that's even worse. It'd be an indictment of Terry, Raheem, Kirk and our defense- who knows Ridder very well and still couldn't stop him.
People (TF) might lose their job quick if Ridder outshines Kirk and Penix doesn't get the nod next week.
Was just pondering the state of the franchise this morning and realized how bleak the future could be. Just a few of the notable issues I could think of…
Our QB has maybe the 2nd worst contract in the nfl and only has 1 functioning leg, and his backup could be good but literally nobody knows because our coach refuses to give him a look
Our receiving core is middle of the pack but London is gonna want to be paid like a 1 without ever providing that level of production
Our generational Tight End absolutely sucks
Our left tackle is getting closer and closer to being done
We have no EDGE presence whatsoever
Grady is on his last leg
There’s nothing noteworthy to say about our LB group
Terrell got the bag but hasn’t played up to the level he’s getting paid
On top of all of this, our GM can’t draft. Even if he could, we only have our 1,2,4 and a couple 7ths this year. And our coach seems like a glorified cheerleader at this point in time
With the Bucs winning today their schedule is cake the rest of the way. Barring an injury or major upset, Kirk’s play and Raheems stubbornness to play MPJ and coaching screwed us. Negative but the truth. Still always Rise Up though!
Seeing how much of the 2024 season might be coming to a close for the team, and yeah we have Michael Penix, Jr. that can be the next #1 QB for next year due to reasons, however; we don't know how he'll perform under pressure - and practice is nothing compared to being in real games, and we're literally out of the 2024 playoff picture if we lose even one game if we're lucky.
So it got me thinking since we're sure to have a QB vacancy by 2027 if Penix doesn't pan out well, and the team ends up with a good position in the draft - I know that's years away but I'm picking prospects right now since this season seems to be giving people grey hairs.
But what if - Arch Manning - brother of Eli and Peyton Manning, were to be drafted as a Falcon around 2027 - 2028?
What would be the likely case scenario for the team when they start him, say one year later - if at all. Both his brothers have won super bowls, and I'm certain Arch Manning is looking to add on to that legacy with what ever team drafts him, however; it'll likely be some major changes in front office and coaching staff let alone possible ownership of the team so these are hypothetical.
This is just for fun: Add a head coach or other coaches such as OC, and DC, or players/vets that might work with Arch as the starter QB for the Falcons.
Example - Arch is QB with Kyle Shanahan or Ben Johnson as Head coach, and Justin Jefferson at WR. That's just my picks.
Also please be respectful in the comments, thank you.
That’s it that’s the only positive i got.(rip nick chubb your a hero)
RISE THE FUCK UP!!!!!!
I get it. The past 4 games have been disappointing. The Falcons are doing typical Falcons shit
BUT
We all saw with our own eyes what Ridder is capable of. I have zero confidence that he’s going to be any different in a Raider uniform.
The Raiders are also a much worse team than us.
Calm down. We got this.
First things first, all of these people are okay at their job, like I don't think anyone with the exception of our DC shouldn't be in the NFL but I just don't think they're good for our team. Because of the way we drafted under TF we barely have any young talent starting from the last 4 drafts outside of the first round picks. We need a GM that can evaluate and draft talent, we need an offensive minded HC, and we need a DC that understands that although running zone is for the best in today's game, you have to be able to do three things for a successful zone defense to work: 1. Pressure the QB, 2. Be able to disguise coverage effectively, and 3. Have DBs that can keep the big throws in front of them and play man successfully when you ask them to do it. We don't have the first, barely do the second, and only somewhat do the third even with all that paid for talent of defense.
I'm not the kind of fan that wants to fire a coach after one year but this has been a terribly disappointing year compared to the talent and expectations coming in. We need a new GM and have them hire Ben Johnson or someone else like minded.. I just don't understand with all our talent and money spent how we can play so poorly. It's our QB, it's our run schemes, it's our wr separation on routes, it's our o-line, it's on our front sevenfor not defending the run and not getting to the QB, it's on our back end (less than these other position groups imo) too so when we're failing that miserably I have to think we start cleaning house and just cutting our losses with the new HC but TF has to go too or we'll be back here next year and several years after.
We likely have the easiest schedule we're going to have over the next 10 years this year and will still finish with 8 or less wins with younger talent than TB, more talent than Carolina, and barely more Cap than the Aints. This is the worst division..there's not a single reason we shouldn't be a 9 win team right now that can't be put on the staff and the choices they've made getting us here.
We keep hearing how much is at stake for tonight’s must win game, but is there a solid chance that Raheem & Co. is canned following an inexcusable loss to the Desmond Ridder led Raiders?
Not saying I hope the team loses, but IF they do, what are the next steps for this organization?
Like the system of pattern detection in my brain has created a response to the Atlanta falcons where it like stops caring as a result of trying to process the things we do. It’s every single year and draft. Sweep the best team in the division and do the only thing possible to give them the playoffs which is lose four straight. Sign cousins, which I hated then talked myself into. Drafted penix, which I hated then talked myself into, then lose four straight and don’t even start the quarterback you drafted. It’s like does anyone else’s brain also do the thing where it just cannot believe how shocking and embarrassing the team is at every opportunity. I don’t mean this in a negative way I just like don’t know if these team if cursed or it’s the ownership or like idk
Falcons have to go 4-0 and we need the bucs to finish 2-1 to win the division.
OR Falcons finish 4-0, While Washington and the Seahawks would have to finish 1-2 to sneak in the wildcard at #7
Which is technically possible but hey it’s us the falcons.
That’ said it’s time to fucking rise up!
Buccaneers Remaining Schedule: DAL, CAR, NO
Commanders Remaining schedule: PHI, ATL, DAL
Seahawks Remaining Schedule: MIN, CHI, LAR
Falcons Remaining Schedule: LV, NYG, WAS, CAR
In all likelihood that would bring us out of playoff contention unless a miracle occurs. If cousins stinks it up again do we let penix start?
And if we do start him and he balls out in the last three games you gotta think wed shake it up during the offseason and get behind him instead.
Do you think kirk would waive his no trade clause? Would anyone even want him? Would he elect to retire? Or ride the bench to earn all the money he’d get anyway.
Not only could we not pull out ONE win, but the fact that it took Jimmy Lake and Raheem 12+ weeks to make adjustments on the defense makes my blood boil.
Our quarterback throwing picks instead of touchdowns makes my blood boil.
Zach Robinson calling screens and jet sweeps that continuously fail makes my blood boil.
The penalties make my blood boil.
Raheem staring up at the jumbotron instead of talking to his players makes my blood boil.
The fact that we're 6-7, with our playoff hopes crashing, makes my blood boil.
Just looking back to the 2022 second round...Passed on Kyler Gordon and Nick Bonitto for Ebiketie and Troy Anderson.
Atp I'm just praying for 8 wins lol
We now have to win out and hope the Bucs lose to the Cowboys, Saints, or Panthers. Sigh.
Barring a Bucs collapse during one of their upcoming easy peasy games (which isn’t out of the question btw), it’s looking like they’re winning the division.
What’s the path for a Falcons playoff berth if we some how get our act together and go 10-6 but don’t win the division?
Don’t clown on me for being optimistic, I just want to enjoy football for the rest of the year
We dont deserve the playoffs and should start Penix the rest of the way. Also, Raheem Morris is an idiot.
Elementary time management at the end of the game but once again Dan Quinn demonstrates he has learned nothing and has no idea how to time manage a game. Washington will NEVER win with him as HC. I actually admire the Saints going for 2
Any parties or pregame spots tomorrow afternoon before the game?
Everyone doing their best Cousins/ Koo impressions.
