Of course we still need a legit CB2 and I think they’ll sign one in FA but until that happens, we only have who we have. We have plenty of young guys who hopefully can make some strides with our new coaches, with Lake and Raheem having tons of experience specifically in the secondary.
I didn’t get to watch many games last year but from what I did see and heard, I’m really liking Clark Phillips and of course Hellams played his way onto the field. I’m still holding out hope for Richie Grant but I have an irrational love for dude so that ain’t worth much.
In celebration of May the 4th be with you
Reasonable article on pff about the Penix pick. Listened to their podcast pff nfl podcast episode afc south and nfc south grades. The episode echoes a lot of the same in the article but mentioned that Zac Robinson was taking Penix up and the pick didn’t come as a huge surprise to them.
I've watched them all and I must admit, that Michael needs to sit. Kirk is about to be the most underappreciated qb in the league because Penix has some serious areas of his game that ended to be cleaned up but when he cleans them up, he will be a great qb. He has this thing with his feet where he takes a little hitch on half of his throws and it causes him to sail a lot of balls. He also points his feet in the wrong direction, and he holds the ball a bit too long. All mechanical things that can be fixed but if he was drafted and put in a starting role early could be an issue. Kirk gives us a chance to compete now and Penix a chance to compete later and he is gonna need the time. For a good example of what he would loom lime as a rookie, watch the Arizona State game. They won but I thought it was his worst game.
He hasn’t been on and they didn’t say he was gonna be on today. I wonder why Terry backed out?
I’m not gonna act like I wasn’t surprised that Penix was the pick. However, to all those claiming it’s organizational malpractice to not go fully in with Kirk, do y’all seriously believe that having Kirk + even a DROY Latu/Turner puts this roster over the top of the likes of San Francisco? Detroit? Let alone Kansas City? Be for real.
Now we don’t have to worry about trying to jump from the late 20s and pay an absolutely exorbitant* price to move up for a guy later on, and still have a roster to compete within a similar band of outcome as if we had taken Latu/Turner.
Edit: spelling 😅
Hi all, need help identifying a signature. I bought a Falcon's mini helmet from a thrift store, and one of the signatures on it I can't figure out what it is.
If anyone knows and could tell me that would be great, I'm not interested in getting it authenticated I just want to know as there's a couple other signatures (Van Note if that helps with time period of the 70's) on it that I already recognized.
Just curious what will constitute a successful season this year in your mind. Personally, I would be happy convincingly winning the division this year with Kirk and the offensive weapons getting off to a fast and exciting start, thus making the team fun to watch again and giving me hope for the future.
The media finds it acceptable practice to trade the farm to move up when you badly need a QB, like the Panthers or the 9ers did. But the cost of failing was astronomical for them.
On the flip side, they’re saying this was the “most shocking draft decision maybe ever” for us to pick Penix at 8. If the two year plan with Kirk holds, we’re talking about essentially one more year than “normal” for Penix to develop… and we didn’t give up any picks to do it.
It’s just a different transaction - time or picks. I’d rather pay the time than future possible cornerstones of your team.

Never saw this mentioned here. The day after the draft Terry Fontenot did an interview with 92.9 and Mike Bell asked a question about what went into the decision to not do the same thing back in 2021, draft Justin Fields to sit behind Matt Ryan, and Terry Fontenot let it fly by saying "and how has that worked out".
It stars around 13:55 or so.
I love the honesty here haha.
I've been in Reddit jail and just got out so not sure if this has been mentioned, If you look at our D-Line contracts by year you can see why we drafted so many d-line players. Look at how many expiring contracts we have after this year. And then even after this year Grady has 1 more year. Weather or not we give an aging Grady a 3rd contract is another discussion.
