Construction on Shallowford

When heading east on Shallowford, before you reach the Johnson Ferry intersection where the Kroger is, there is some construction project going on. Do any of y’all know what it is? Did I miss the part where the USL finished discussions with the City of Roswell, and awarded us a club? Did they start building the stadium or something (probably not 🤣)?

Food-waste composting options?

TL;DR trying to find a place to drop food waste for composting, or even better a pick-up service. We can't have the compost outside at our property due to community restrictions.

I found https://www.compostnow.org/ but they only seem to service ITP.

I found this post - https://www.reddit.com/r/roswell/comments/18u0msq/community_composting_in_north_fulton/ which spotlights the "FoodCycler" for use at home, then brining the dried waste to the farm, but again, not an option for us. The community garden doesn't seem to be open to the public providing compost waste.

Thanks in advance for any guidance provided...

John Albers Wants ZERO Exceptions for Abortion

GA State Senator for district 56 signed a pledge 4-5 years ago stating he wants NO EXCEPTIONS for abortion. This is personal to me bc I’ve needed 2 D&Cs at 18 wks and 16 wks bc of fetal complications and the dangers to my health. Albers would rather see me dead or in jail for those.

Vote JD Jordan if you haven’t already. This is about protecting the females in your life.

Places to hangout

Esoteric vibes

Hey everyone I’m looking to hangout places that have the hippie vibe to it minus the drugs. I’m really big into burning incense, metaphysical stuff, staring at the clouds, like minded people. I would love to hear from you, thank you:)!

I think this is a great addition for Roswell. What are your thoughts?

Excited to see that the Roswell Junction Food Hall has plans to open its doors soon!

Roswell Junction food hall plans for success

I think it will fill a void that we have had. If you are a family with young kids, which there are a lot here in Roswell...., I am sure you can relate that it is tough to go out to eat at a traditional restaurant with the kids. Outside of Luckys, there are not many options for a casual lunch that are "kid-friendly" or have an area for kids to, at the very least, stand up and move around. Oh...I almost forget the small turf section at the Standard lol. I could be misinterpreting the intended use here, but the combination of fast casual food with an accessible green space for the kids-to-be kids sounds great.

Young family relocating to Roswell

Edit: I just want to thank everyone for their suggestions and greetings so far. It’s really making me feel at ease with this transition.

Hi everyone!

I am relocating with my wife and three kids (all under 5) to Roswell from Columbus OH. We have secured a single family home in Martins Landing area. I went down to get some things settled in the house before the movers bring the bulk of our things. My wife has not seen the house in person yet.

I mainly wanted to ask about activities, events, things we must see etc. My wife is a social butterfly , the kids have been enjoying preschool so this feels like a bitter sweet move. However it is for a dream job (located in midtown 3x a week with permission to start and end my day as needed). My wife and I met in Portland OR and lived in Asheville NC prior to Columbus.

My family loves the outdoors, trying new restaurants (love burgers, sushi, pizza), love coffee etc. also love doing kid friendly events (forest schools, meet-up, story times etc). Any moms groups, women groups that my wife may enjoy to meet new friends would be great to know about. Also if anyone knows of any nature based, co-op or non mainstream preschools I’d love to know about them. Not opposed to regular schools but the kids have loved their nature based one this past year.

Any guidance, suggestions or encouragement is appreciated. I’m struggling a little bit with this move and want to make it as great an experience as possible for my family.

Thank you.

Empty building across from Roswell Provisions on Canton?

Anybody know what is going on with this building?

It’s been vacant for years now but seems to be getting some work done to sidewalk in front of it.

Seems to be a great space for a restaurant or bar!

Place to stop for a drink

So, I work in Roswell, but live in Woodstock and mainly take 92 home. Man, I cannot stand the traffic most days. I've been thinking about stopping somewhere for a glass of wine and a tapa or appetizer till the traffic dies down, but after looking up local establishments I realize I wouldn't be able to afford much. Know of any coffeehouses instead?

Roswell City Council - Oct. 15, 2024: Millage rate approved

  • Millage Rate and Property Taxes: The City Council adopted a millage rate of 4.949 for tax year 2024, maintaining the same rate as the previous year and reflecting a history of consistent millage rate reduction since 2015. The city's portion of residents' total property tax bills is only 16%, with the majority going to Fulton County Schools and Fulton County government.
  • City's Financial Health and Budgeting: City Administrator Randy Knighton and Budget Manager Lynn Williams presented an overview of the city's financial health, highlighting the success of the 0-based budgeting strategy implemented two years prior, which resulted in cost savings and allowed for investments in key areas like public safety and parks.
  • Pine Grove Road Improvement Project: The council approved a $6 million budget increase for the Pine Grove Road improvement project, bringing the total budget to $20.8 million to address safety concerns and implement traffic calming measures along the corridor. The council emphasized a city-wide initiative to address speeding, with the Pine Grove Road project serving as a key component. Mayor Wilson announced a city-wide initiative to address speeding, involving the transportation and police departments, with the Pine Grove Road project serving as the first step in this effort.

Lions Game in Roswell

Does anyone know a spot in Roswell I can watch the Lions game? Most bars in town like Mazzy’s or Tony’s will likely be playing the Falcons game, along with Falcons audio. I’d like to find a location where I can watch AND listen to the Lions game, I’m aware the Mazzy’s in Duluth is a Lions bar, just was wondering if anyone knew of one nearby. Thanks!

Korean Food in Roswell!!

I just tried Heart and Seoul near the library and it was fantastic. Apparently they opened earlier this week.

Highly recommend to other Roswellians who love Korean food. I for one am psyched to not have to drive to Doraville every time I want good Korean food now.
