Find a place to live in the ATL
/r/ATLHousing
Hi everyone!
I am currently in search of a roommate for a house that I am currently renting in Brookhaven. The house is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house in great, quiet neighborhood right next to downtown Brookhaven. You will share a bathroom with someone else while I have the master. Rent is $800 + utilities (electric, water and internet). We are about 15 minutes away from downtown Atlanta, Midtown, Virginia Highlands, Buckhead, and right next to I-85. I really love the area and consider my living situation very lucky considering the recent increase in rent in Atlanta. I am currently living with one other person.
A little about me, I am a 27M working in consulting. I love to be outdoors, running and being active is a huge thing for me, and I'm really easy going, very considerate and clean. I am looking for people that are also easy going, considerate, clean, and willing to sign a year lease with me! Please DM me if interested and we can set up a time to meet!
If you are moving to Atlanta for the first time, it can be really difficult to figure out what each neighborhood or area is like. Thats why its great to have a local real estate agent help you with the search.

My husband and I are looking at a few apartment complexes in the Sandy Springs area, and I'm trying to find honest recent reviews.
We were all set on Dunwoody Pointe because it has a playground for the kids, but all the reviews are terrible. There are no recent ones, however, and I'm wondering if it might have changed hands and new management is better, which is why there are no new negative reviews being posted.
We are also considering taking over a lease from a nice couple at Bell Perimeter Center.
[UPDATE] I'm removing The Eva From this list because of the horrifying reviews I've already found for it. We will definitely NOT be moving there.
Perimeter Circle's saltwater pool really has us drawn in, too.
I would really appreciate any feedback anyone has on recent experiences with any of these places!

My partner and I (late 20s) are considering a potential move to Atlanta. We work remote so commute isn’t an issue right now. We’re looking for places that have good restaurants/bars, shopping, access to nature, and things to do.
We like being in a walkable area and would like to purchase a small home. Most likely will plan to start a family in the next 2-3 years, so good schools are also of interest. Diversity is important (we’re a mixed Jewish and Black couple). We’re currently in Southern California. Any ideas?
Hey Atlanta! 👋 I’m Teala Smith, your local mortgage lender with Rocket Mortgage Local, and I’m here to make buying a home easier, more affordable, and genuinely enjoyable!

Hi guys I have a family of 8 We are looking to buy in cobb county for work or close to it. Anybody know if this county is safe? And can someone point us to the best neighborhoods?
Thanks!
Hello all! As titles states, looking to purchase home in the next couple months, but pretty unsure which area exactly. Proximity to Buckhead fairly important, as my partner goes in office 3 times a week. We also have a 2 year old,so schools are something we’ll have to think about as well. Don’t want to spend more than 450k. Any suggestions?
Edit: Reading your comments, i see I’ll have to sacrifice something. Let’s say i cared less about my wife’s commute to Buckhead (lol it’s only 2-3 times per week) Willing to go OTP but not more than an hour ish commute, max. Open to townhomes as well.
Got a new job in Buckhead, and we are excited to move to ATL. We just visited recently on an advanced scouting trip and we all really enjoyed your city! Our budget is around $2800/mo, and we're hoping for about 1800 sq ft. min. (although location location location). We enjoyed all of the parks and green spaces, but we are completely open-minded as to where to live, houses vs. condo vs. apartment, etc. We enjoy live music, supporting local restaurants and businesses, funky artsy stuff, visiting the famer's market, and would prefer a (relatively) walkable neighborhood.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for an apartment in the Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, or Cumming areas in Georgia, ideally under $1500/month. One key requirement is a gas stove in the unit (tough to find these days, I know!) and safe neighborhood. If anyone knows of a good place or has recommendations on where to look, please let me know! Thanks in advance 😊
Hey everyone, am single guy looking to own a house instead of paying shit loads of $$ for rent in this highly inflated city. I am looking something small but in a safe neighborhood, not far from city possibly near some trails for physical activities. I am gonna use Georgia dream program to not pay any down payment. My budget is $200 to $300k Am mostly leasing towards single family but would also consider a better townhouse or condo if available ( most of them have jacked up HOAs) Please help me find my new den
I make 65k a year. I have no car note. Realistically, could I get a 1bedroom apt in the city with my salary? Any recommendations if so?
Does the county need to contact your mortgage company or do you need to in order for your property taxes to decrease? Is what I said even correct?
Hey, I live downtown Atlanta right on the GSU campus. It’s amazing location and is fully furnished. The apartment is a 4 x 4, with two other women roommates. It’s about $1200 a month, not including utilities which is on average $75 a month. The apartment name is the legacy at Centennial. The apartment has a balcony, fully furnished, pets are allowed. The apartment itself is a four minute walk away from a Marta station, it’s got a trolley right in front of it, it has pools, hot tub, sun, tanning, gym, a lounge room on the top floor was beautiful sites. I’m looking for someone to take over my lease for December until July timeframe. I can send photos of the place and the views and any more information through DM’s.
Hi guys, I am considering the following apartments in Buckhead and wondering if anyone can share their experiences? Looking for information on how it was to live there, and also how was the surrounding neighborhood. Are the buildings in areas where you could go for a walk/run outside?

It looks reliable. Or at least I hope it is.
My plan is to avoid places that are near the apartments that have been tagged here. Maybe like 3-4 miles in each direction? I don’t know if I’ll have in any places left after that lol but we’ll see. 🤞🏻
Hello,
I am moving to Atlanta within the next two months, ideally before the end of the year.
I am 19, male, and a musician. Looking for future roommate(s) that live a similar lifestyle to me, or at least don’t mind living with someone who makes music for a living.
420 friendly, LGBTQ friendly, and creative. I’m pretty open minded and laid back.
My budget is around $800-$1000 a month. I’m not super familiar with the neighborhoods around Atlanta, but I have a vehicle so public transit isn’t a necessity.
Thanks, DM for any serious questions/inquires.
Hey! I’m pretty new to Atlanta and I was thinking of getting a home in the upper westside of midtown. I wanted to gather some of yours guys thoughts on the area? I’m considering areas such as Bolton, and a bit south of the Chattahoochee Works.
Some initial concerns of mine are:
Health: I see there are a lot of industrial plants that could be spewing chemicals into the air in that area such as Stergenics, the cement processing plant, water processing plant, etc. Im worried that will eventually cause health issues over long exposure.
Crime: I understand I’m near the city so crime is a thing, I just don’t know how it compares here to the rest of the city in terms of crime. It’s pretty close to Bankhead so I’m worried it may be a target?
Growth: Is that area growing/gentrifying? I’d like to target an area that is growing and building a lot of new cool things. It looks to me that upper westside is growing, which would be good for appreciation
Diversity: I’m not sure what the diversity looks like on this side.
Really appreciate the input. Thanks!
I need some ATL advice! 😊 I’m a 28F looking for a neighborhood that's ideal for singles in their late 20s/early 30s. I’ve been living abroad in a super walkable city, so ideally, I’d love to find an area near food, shopping, parks, etc. Plus, I’d like somewhere that feels safe, with a lively vibe and people out and about!
My family’s in the North/East of Atlanta (Duluth, Chamblee, Roswell), so I’m hoping to stay on that side of town. I’ve heard good things about some neighborhoods (listed below), but I’d love to hear other recommendations as well! If there are any hidden gems, good apartment buildings or up-and-coming spots, please share! Here’s what I’ve got so far:
Midtown Eastside Beltline Neighborhoods: Virginia-Highlands, Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park Decatur Buckhead Alpharetta Sandy Springs/Perimeter area
Thank you so much for any tips!

Hey everyone. I’ll be moving from out of state back to Georgia. Lived in Dunwoody and Tucker area for 5 years before moving back home to California following the pandemic.
Looking for good apartment recommendations. Have considered high rises, but I know it’s a hit or miss in midtown and buckhead. Would be curious if anyone can share their experience. Also are there any high rise options outside of the city, maybe somewhere in Sandy springs or Alpharetta?
Looking generally just for a safe, convenient, somewhat modern feel. My budget is around $1900-2000. Any advice would be great. Thank you.
Toured a unit closer to highway and it was great but the buzz of traffic was there and now I am a little sad.
I am wondering if it was because the unit was empty and sounds were echoing too much. Anyone has experiences from Novel?
I am looking at apartments in different neighborhoods and almost all of these luxury apartments have some seriously bad reviews.
The good reviews or sort of glowing reviews are from people that have either only toured the property or are still fairly new to the building as a resident. Some actually seemed like they could easily be fake.
But the bad reviews are seriously concerning! Its making me nervous.
The topics are quite common. Amenities aren’t as advertised, the management or staff are unhelpful, arrogant and trying to overcharge for stuff, car break-ins, burglaries during the day where apartments are broken into, rude staff etc etc.
How do we know which apartment is worth it? All I see is how these apartments are NOT worth it!
Looking for a home in Atlanta ga area but I'm a felon anyone can point me in the right direction?
I know this is a long shot, but here's the backstory if you'd like to know why I'm hoping to find it:
My kids and I have been separated from my husband for over a year, except for occasional visits and the rare opportunity his employer will let him work from home again for a couple of weeks. He was hired on full remote in 2021, but in 2023, they demanded all employees be in office one day a week, and now want three days a week. We live in FL, but his office is in Dunwoody/Sandy Springs (I'm not clear on where the distinction is). We are currently spending about $1600 a month on an extended stay hotel room for him, and he's paying to Uber to and from work the days he has to be in office, which works out to about $60-90 per week, depending on Uber prices. This already has our budget stretched thin, with our credit card balances near maxed at this point, but it's the cheapest we've been able to do. If we could find a house to rent where the kids and I could actually stay with him, we could save the cost of gas from driving back and forth between states, the Uber rides for him, and the increased grocery bill from having two separate households. Then, we could actually get our credit cards paid down and our family could be together. So I'm searching everywhere I can to try to find an option for us. We have two well-behaved dogs that are not on any restricted breed list and are only 25-30lbs each. We could leave them in FL with my mom if we absolutely had to, but we would really like to be able to bring them with us because they miss us all, and we miss them when we're gone, too. We have a mortgage in FL that we can't give up because my mom can't get her own place and she has been living with us, so we can't really reduce our expenses from FL, either. This leaves us hoping to find a house to rent for $1600 or less a month, or maybe $1900 if utilities are included. Any ideas for where to look? Zillow and the like aren't turning up anything useful.
I'm finishing my last semester as a Georgia Tech student in Fall 2025, and looking for an apartment for the semester. Prefer walking distance to campus and not more than $1200/month.
Looking for an apartment complex with a fantastic, well-equipped gym, and preferably a co-working space, fairly convenient to hop on 85 and north of the 400 intersection (basically Brookhaven to Norcross areas). Bonus points if it has any walkability to a local coffee shop or grocery store. It looks like there are a ton of new buildings in the area. Budget of $2k for 1bd. Thanks!
