Gwinnett County Police Department No-Chase Policy

Hi y'all! I'm doing a paper regarding Gwinnett County Police Departments No-Chase policy and I can't find any kind of link or resource that states what exactly that policy is so I can cite the source. I was recommended to do an open records check at one of their precincts, but they won't be open until Monday and I'm on a time crunch. Can anyone link me to a source that states what the policy is, if there is any? It would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for liberal minded firearm training

Looking for firearm training facilities in the area that aren’t run by conservatives. Anyone have any recommendations? Will go to Atlanta if necessary, but I hate driving there. 😂

If You’re Looking For A Job

I’m sure it doesn’t pay the best, but I saw some posts previously of people looking for a job locally or in Gwinnett. They really need the help, and they’re really awesome. It’s a really great Vegan restaurant that tastes so delicious. I believe they close on Wednesdays. Just FYI if it helps

Looking for Mountain Dew GameFuel Cases

Does anyone know if there are any local stores in the Lawrenceville area that have the Mountain Dew Citrus Cherry GameFuel cases? I'd really like to get my hands on one of the cases for the code so that I can redeem it for some ingame items in World of Warcraft. The locator that I found on Mtn. Dew's site says that the only places to get the individual bottles with codes are in Atlanta, and I really don't want to go QT on Clairmont just for a soda. Any info would be really nice.

Where is the dang bridge!!!

I moved to the Gwinnett side of Stone Mountain/Smoke rise. There are at least 3 roads name Rockbridge. Now I have driven up and down all of them and not once did I span a body of water via a bridge made of stone. What is the deal?!

Question about School Zone Cameras

Hey guys,

Sorry this is a stupid question, but how do school zone cameras operate around here? My apologies if I sound like an illiterate driver, and I'm just trying to not make mistakes in the future.

  1. If the sign says 35 when flashing, do you go 35 or under? Or do you go the posted speed limit (e.g - if it's 45 speed limit by default + school is NOT in session / after hours)?
  2. I always feel so anxious / pressured and nervous to go faster because people are tailing me for going the exact speed limit in a school zone and I've gotten cited before because of that, any advice?
  3. My last question, I know the first citation is $75, and the next one is $125. The "first letter" I received was for a $125 payment, I never got one for $75. Did I somehow miss the first citation, if there was one? I called the mainline and they confirmed to me I had no active / missing citations.

I want to say last time, I got a ticket for going the default speed limit (45) not 35, and I believe the lights were not flashing (I may have forgotten or didn't see it flashing), so unfortunately I kind of confused myself on the standard protocol.

Honest question for understanding: Why are Black people so often treated as ‘less than’ in society?

I’m a Black person, a productive member of society, a homeowner, a taxpayer, and someone who loves my community in Gwinnett County. My husband and I raised our kids here, and I’m just trying to understand—what did we do to deserve being viewed as ‘less than’?

I’ve never personally had a negative experience with a white person, but sometimes I feel like a target, especially when politics stirs up racial issues. I voted this time, but I didn’t vote for either Trump or Kamala—I’m just tired of choosing ‘the lesser of two evils.’ I voted because I felt I needed to, not because I believed in either option.

What I’d like to know, sincerely, is: What thoughts or feelings come up for you when you see a Black person? Is there something that causes this tension? Was it taught in school, passed down, or something else? I’m asking for honest responses, but please keep it respectful—I truly want to understand where this comes from.

New to area

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this area. I have been here since June and have not been successful at finding a job. I used to work for a street medicine team where I am from, and have a bachelors in Health communication. Does anyone have any tips on how to get a part time position at Emory, CHOA, or Northside? Or any other medical place? I am currently working towards my nursing degree and am looking for a part time position and have had no luck. I continue to apply, follow up but have not gotten any word from any of them.

i thought the transit referendum was going to be a good thing but i see a few people arguing why it isnt.

Just curious why dont you guys think its a good thing? The way im thinking is that any transit is good because as long as one car is off the road it will help with traffic congestion.

Anywhere to Rent a Kiln nearby?

I'm looking for a place to rent a kiln for some pottery pieces. I know there's some closer to Atlanta and Gainesville, but I'm looking for one more towards the heart of Gwinnett to avoid that drive if I can. Ty!

I understand tensions are high after the election, but please remain civil on the subreddit.

Please refrain from making personal attacks against your neighbors or posting things that are uncivil, bigoted or offensive in nature. If anything becomes a concern, please use the report button next to the post or comment.

Edit: If you'd like to discuss general/national politics, please use the main political subreddits for that. Try to keep topics in this subreddit focused on the county and general area.

Lost Necklace

Hi everyone, this is probably a long shot but I’m desperate.

Last night my boyfriend and I were at Truck and Tap for trivia, and I had a necklace in my purse that I can’t find now. I’ve basically torn apart everything I own and still cannot find it.

It’s extremely sentimental to me as it belonged to my grandmother and contains photos of my great-grandparents. It’s a gold locket with a pink flower engraved on the front.

I have contacted the bar to ask them to keep an eye out for it, but more eyes can’t hurt especially in that general area. If anyone saw it or happened to have picked it up please PM me. Thanks y’all <3

Any Buddhist Temples open to the public?

I'm interested in learning about Buddhism by immersing myself in the community. I want to find a temple that welcomes people from all walks of life (I'm an afro-latino male). Ideally one that offers public meditation sessions and opportunities to get involved. Anyone have any experience with local temples?

Transit vote fails (again)

Dems sweep county offices by 15-20 points but their transit referendum fails by about 7 points. Seems like nearly all the “yes” precincts are in areas along the I-85 corridor up to 316. Transit votes are now 0-5 all time in Gwinnett.

"My one vote won't make a difference" said over 150,000 gwinnett registered voters.

In Gwinnett alone 27% of registered voter 157,000 PEOPLE didn't vote, and I don't know how many eligible voters didn't even register. And Gwinnett is not unique.

So to all those with this mentality. no, your "one" vote wouldn't have made a difference, but collectively all those "one" votes add up.

Ok ok I get it, many really didn't like either presidential candidate. But its not about the person, and the senate, house, and local elections are equally if not MORE important.

Help me choose a gym in Gwinnett (Lawrenceville/Lilburn/Duluth)

I currently have a Crunch membership (Snellville) and I used to be very consistent with my routine until I got a job (I work from home). I didn't care about the long commute when I was unemployed, especially during non-busy hours, but now I dread the 15-25 minute drive before and after work. I'm looking into gyms nearby me, and the closest ones are Planet Fitness on Pleasant Hill Rd, two LA Fitness locations (Pleasant Hill Rd and Duluth Hwy), and ATL Fitness 24/7 Beaver Ruin. I used to go to Lifetime but it was just too expensive for me. My budget is about $40 or less per month.

Aside from distance, the qualities I look for in finding a good gym membership are a wide variety of equipment, unlimited guest passes, group exercise classes, hospitable and supportive staff, and cleanliness.

Which gym should I go to? Feel free to share other suggestions near the areas I mentioned.
