This year since we ended up having way more trick-or-treaters than last year, I ended up handing out some of my crochet toys and hats! I hope whoever got them is happy with them. We only had around 10 trick-or-treaters last year so I thought we would end up having a small group this year too. I'm happy we got more but I do feel like I wasn't totally prepared. Anyway I hope everyone had a happy Halloween!
A sign is only as authoritative as it is legible. Needless to say this "violater" lounged on one of the benches for the rest of the day.
My roller derby team is coming up to Rome next month from Florida, and we were looking for a restaurant with the capacity to handle a large crowd quickly during the lunch rush.
Any recommendations for some good local grub that could handle a team of badass women? Our game is at the Fielder Recreation Center, so something near there would be awesome.
Looking forward to visiting!
Still have power in old east Rome as of 6am.
We put in at Heritage Park and paddled upriver to the bypass. The Oostanaula is really chill right now (this will likely change soon). There were a couple of shallow spots we had to navigate, but it was a lovely paddle. Rome is interesting from the water.
So my full situation is I'm a broke college student (pursuing degree in comp sci if anyone's hiring), that's on my mother's insurance plan (doesnt cover dental) and I'll probably be on it until I'm 26. I've always had kinda messed up teeth that I've been wanting to fix but it's a bit too late now since most insurance plans don't cover adult braces. What are some options?
Anyone know why so many helicopters are flying tonight? My daughter text me saying there were several flying over the college and was curious as to why.
Hi, we are first time home buyers and have no idea how this works. I was trying to cut my dogs nails and she made me fall on the floor. I'm very heavy set (300+ pounds) so I made a dent in the floor. Is there anyone that can help us fix our foundation in our home? We also have another "soft spot" near our storage room where we are worried that it will fall in.
What is with GSP all over Rome these past couple days?
has anyone here attended gntc college ? if so would you be willing to answer some of my questions
I also posted this in the Dalton subreddit because I am desperate y'all.
So yesterday my car's computer shit a brick and I don't have the funds to fix it, but I need a vehichle so I can get to my medical appointments in Atlanta. Do any of you know if any dealers in town (or nearby) will take a non-driveable car in on trade? I realize that this probably isn't a thing, but I am asking just in case it is.
Hello there, Reddit! I am about to interview for a job with the potential to move down there to work at one of the hospitals. I was wondering a few things. First, how safe is Rome? I’ve seen mixed reviews online and I want to get opinions from folks who live there. Second, how’s the apartment and/or housing market? I looked again at many sources and the prices didn’t look too horrid from me. Finally, any advice of things to check out while I’m there for one day? Thanks for any advice.
Hi everyone! My wife and I currently live in Canton, Ga and may be moving out to Rome for a business opportunity. We have been doing some research and are curious on the best neighborhoods to live and purchase a home. From what I’ve seen, Horseleg Estates and Stonebridge are typically spoken highly of. I’d love to get the recommendations of some locals!
Also, we enjoy going out after work and on the weekends to be social and fun activities for our family. In our current town there are a good amount of local hangout spots with breweries, restaurants, and green areas. Is there anything like that out in Rome? I did see they were building a Nova River District which seems pretty neat as well.
Thanks so much for any insight or advice!
I've worked at Lowe's Warehouse for 5 months in the past and I really never got used to it so I don't feel like I could do warehouse stuff again. I'm very slow and most jobs I've seen require you to work in a quick paced environment so I'm worried I'd be fired. I'm not to concerned about pay: I just need something that is slow paced, calm. I'm just seeing a lot of medical jobs on indeed and I don't have the skill set for that. I do have a bachelor's in communication but I've never had a job that requires a degree despite the fact I'm in my early 30s.
I've tried applying to Dominos and never heard back. I also tried applying to Welocalize, failed their exam. I applied for Toyo tiers even though I don't really want to go back to a warehouse and they denied me.
I've done babysitting for many years for my sister and I've even been a nanny for a few months for another family. The jobs I've seen for that require a cpr certificate though and I don't have that. I can clean so I wouldn't mind a janitorial type job. I just don't know if a janitorial job would be too rushed. I have done call center work but I've been hospitalized due to too much stress from that before so I would really rather avoid that again. I was a legal secretary for 2 years.
What type of jobs could I realistically do?
My and my partner are desperately looking for any work, work for cash or hourly is fine we're both young and able bodied im 19 and hes 25 I'm more customer service oriented but don't mind physical labor and hes more physical labor oriented. anything helps ! no funny business 🤨
Our library is one of the best things about Rome. It is a gorgeous, inclusive, and well-curated library, and I spend lots of time in there. One thing that irritates, though, me is how difficult it is to find the Board of Trustees meeting agenda and past meeting minutes. I have looked everywhere. I have googled it. I have looked on the Floyd County website.
Aren't these things supposed to be public? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Has anyone been to any of the 3 McDonald’s in Rome to get the new collectors cups and if you did which one did u get?
When I attended Boys and Girls Club in West Rome back in around 2001-2003 there was another boy who would always play the imaginary piano on the bleachers and practice. I can't remember his name, but in over 20 years he's come to my mind repeatedly, and I'm curious what he's up to these days.
He was a young POC, wore glasses and had a little lisp due to what I recall being a chipped or missing (milk) tooth. He would practice Worship songs, so pretty sure attendet a local church back then (maybe still).
I was certain my Family would have any Idea, because someone in my family always knows someone. But they didn't this time.
So I'm reaching out - maybe there's someone among y'all who attended boys and girls club in west rome back then and remembers his name, or someone who worked there? maybe someone who recognized something from the very small description I remembered and was able to provide?
Does anyone here have any experience with or know some things about the Montessori School here in Rome? I am interested in the Montessori method for my child but I want to hear some personal statements or stories about this school if anyone has any! Much appreciated.
Hi! I volunteer with Helping Paws of North Georgia, a 501c3 Non-Profit on a mission to help fix the pet overpopulation crisis by connecting local pets to low-cost spay and neuter services.
Every quarter or so we head to Rome. Our next outreach trip will take place Saturday, July 27th. We’ve been focused on helping 2 mobile home communities spay and neuter their pets and stray animals. We’ve also been working to get strays into foster homes/rescues. We’d love the support of more locals. Check us out at https://helpingpawsnga.org! We’re also on Facebook and Instagram.
Since 2015 we have spayed and neutered 650+ pets. Our organization continues to grow with the help of our community and our small but mighty group of volunteers. We hope to accomplish more in the months!

I am moving to Rome in August, and have been struggling to find places to live. Wondering if anyone knew what neighborhoods to avoid. I am planning on renting and will be living by myself. Also would not be apposed to living with a roommate but not sure how to go about finding one. Thanks for any help.
