A Call for Investigation: Urging Transparency Regarding a Local Business

I have removed names because this is something that needs a formal legal investigation, and I am not a formal legal investigator.

I'm posting today out of a genuine concern for our community and to encourage those with the authority to investigate the activities of a local business owner. Over the years, this individual has publicly portrayed themselves as a charitable figure, frequently soliciting donations for various causes. This post is not meant to be a personal attack but rather a call for accountability and transparency regarding their business practices. Based on publicly available information, court records, and accounts from others, it’s essential for our community to fully understand potential issues surrounding these donation drives.

Concerns About the Use of Donations

One of the most significant concerns involves the frequent requests for donations made by this individual, claiming that the funds are used to "feed the hungry." However, individuals who are familiar with the business’s operations have reported that very few free meals have been provided.

For example, on December 19, 2021, the business owner posted on social media asking for donations to fund a holiday initiative aimed at feeding those in need. Despite these appeals, there is little to no evidence to show that any meals were actually distributed. Additionally, while donations have been collected through platforms like Venmo and Cash-app, there has been no public financial disclosure explaining how the funds were used. This raises serious concerns about the potential misuse of donations and the lack of transparency regarding how charitable contributions are being handled.

Claims of Involvement in Relief Efforts

This individual also solicited donations and publicly claimed to have traveled to assist with relief efforts in another city. However, no verifiable evidence has emerged to support their involvement with any recognized organizations, which are typically required for entry into disaster or relief zones. If these claims are unsubstantiated, they could be seen as misleading, particularly if they were used to solicit donations or build public goodwill. Given the nature of these statements, it is important for appropriate authorities to investigate whether these claims were fabricated for personal gain.

Soliciting Donations Under Questionable Circumstances

Another concerning pattern involves the blurring of the line between private business struggles and charitable appeals. On several occasions, the business owner has solicited donations to prevent their business from going out of operation, presenting personal financial challenges as a cause for community support.

For instance, on more than one occasion, the individual requested donations to help keep their food business operating. While it is not illegal for a business owner to ask for support, the blending of private business interests with charitable claims creates an ethically questionable situation. Many in the community may have believed they were donating to a cause helping those in need, only to later discover that their contributions may have been used to sustain a private, for-profit business. This raises concerns about whether the public was misled into supporting a business venture under false pretenses.

Potential Legal Implications

While I cannot definitively state that any criminal activity has occurred, the repeated actions of this individual raise enough red flags to warrant serious consideration and investigation by the appropriate authorities. Some of the potential issues include:

Misrepresentation of Charitable Efforts: If donations were solicited under the guise of feeding the homeless or assisting in relief efforts, and there is little to no verifiable evidence to support those claims, this could be construed as fraud if the funds were not used for their stated purpose. It is critical that these activities be investigated to ensure there has been no misuse of funds.

Lack of Transparency: The absence of clear and public financial records detailing where donated money has gone is concerning. This lack of transparency could lead to an investigation into the potential misappropriation of funds. An audit or review could help clarify whether donations were handled appropriately.

Operating as a Private Business While Soliciting Donations: Accepting donations while operating as a private, for-profit business without clear disclosure may not be illegal, but it is ethically questionable. If donors believed their contributions were supporting charitable efforts rather than a private enterprise, this could lead to legal consequences, particularly under consumer protection laws.

After reviewing available information from social media accounts and groups, court documents, and public records, it is clear that this individual's public image as a charitable figure may not fully align with their actions behind the scenes. Their frequent solicitations for donations, combined with a troubling lack of transparency, raise important ethical and potential legal questions that cannot be ignored. I strongly urge those with the authority and resources to investigate the activities of this individual and their business, particularly regarding how donations have been handled and whether charitable efforts have been misrepresented.

As a community, we all want to help those in need, but it is equally important to ensure that our goodwill is not exploited. If you have donated or are considering supporting this individual’s ventures, I encourage you to do your due diligence, ask questions, and demand transparency before contributing. Together, we can ensure that charitable efforts in our community are legitimate and that those in genuine need receive the help they deserve.

This is a call to action for anyone in a position to investigate these concerns. If the issues surrounding this individual and their business are not addressed, our community risks being taken advantage of, and those who are truly in need may continue to go without the support they deserve.

(Note: This post is a personal opinion based on publicly available information and should not be taken as a definitive claim of illegal activity.)

PSA: call your county Board of Elections office if you have any doubts about you registration status

I failed to update my voter registration with my current address before the registration deadline. I checked online and found that my voter registration status was inactive. I called the BoE for my former address, and they confirmed I was in fact still registered and would be able to vote at my former polling location on November 5th. The website alone would’ve had me sitting out this election. Call to be sure!

What is Need? Cook a meal for a Neighbor!

https://preview.redd.it/3qklzyc1bioc1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3f5103f1b8b6cf0a5d8ed245a246f7ae63c6c88

Need: “circumstance in which something is necessary, or that requires some course of action; necessity. A condition requiring supply or relief. A need is something required for a safe, stable, and healthy life.”

We each have a different idea of what need looks like. Some of our neighbors need food because of their financial situation, others need a meal because they are unable to cook because of illness or some other struggle, many families need help when they have a newborn or lose a family member. Whatever the need may be, a Lasagna Love volunteer will provide a complimentary meal served with a side of kindness.

At this very moment, we have many requests in the Cartersville area and few volunteers to cook and deliver these lasagnas (or any other hearty main dish). We would love to have you join us to feed our neighbors in need. You choose your schedule and your mileage radius. This flexible volunteering experience is fun and fulfilling. Help us spread a little kindness in your community this week!

We feed families, spread kindness and strengthen communities!

Pest / Rodent control recommendation?

Hi Everyone,

I've had a bad experience with Orkin. We did a full exclusion for rats in the attic and basement crawl space. Paid $1500. This was supposed to include closing the builders gap on our roof. All they did was put wire mesh over openings in attic gable vents. They never completed the closing of the builders gap. 1 year later they are now completing the work, blaming it on a technician that they fired. I guess no one noticed and there was no oversight to follow through on the job getting done.

Do you have any good recommendations for monthly pest control (and rat exclusion if needed)? I have already worked with C&C.

Thank you!

Where do you get your chicken from?

All the chicken breast I have gotten from kroger as well as perdue brand at any store has been "woody" and I have serious texture issues.

Where do you get chicken breast that isnt gross? I used to like the Amish farms ones from food city but the last few times it has smelled off, even though it was in date.

Any ideas? (Publix, kroger, Aldi, food city are our usual stops but we haven't tried all the brands).

Hubby wants to start a discussion/mens support group

UPDATE/EDIT: If you're interested in joining an upcoming group please message me directly and I'll let you know when/where the next one will be! Thanks!

Hi everyone, this is my very first Reddit post!

My husband (43) and I were looking at starting a group on Meetup but didn't realize you have to pay a monthly fee. My introverted husband is interested to start a men's support group with this general description:

"Greetings!  I am creating this group essentially to create a space for men to get together and discuss relevant cultural and philosophical topics in an open space.  I want to explore many of the ideas you find in modern podcasts or social commentary, however, looking at it through the lens of having actual in person conversations, where we can take in what is actually happening in our lives, at a local level.  I hope through these meetups we can find ourselves learning new ideas and ways to strengthen each other mentally and emotionally, and how to branch that out into the larger community."

He does not use social media so I would probably be the one managing the online presence until a core group was established - maybe 3-4 other guys, consistently once a month, rotating each other's homes as host (so local to the Cartersville or Acworth areas). Ages 25(??) and up perhaps?

Thoughts/interest?
