Where can I purchase authentic firearms in the UK?

I would like to find out if I can have them delivered to my home?

Will you guys successfully be able to push more conservative leaning political parties to relax gun laws

Hear me out. Canada was never one to make guns a political issue, except they did manage to relax gun laws when Stephen Harper became Prime Minister. The Canadians had registration of handguns and long guns, but Harper signed away the long gun registry, finding it to be a waste of resources.

And when Trudeau’s led government banned “scary looking” long guns, that were often used by Hunters, Pierre Poulievre said it was something that he’d reverse if in office. Trudeau also placed a freeze on handgun sales. The push appears to be that Pierre, if in power, will reverse all the gun control Trudeau passed.

Now, the UK is a fundamentally worse situation. They don’t have the frontier culture that bred American and Canadian gun culture. However, with the rise of global nationalism, could we see a relaxation of UK gun laws?

You definitely won’t get gun laws like we have in America, or even Canada. However, I can think of a few issues that might be obtainable.

  1. Amending the law to allow for semi automatic rimfires if .22 or below in diameter. Currently, rifled semi automatic firearms are only allowed if they are .22 rimfire. But if you got “.22 or below” rimfires, then you’d be able to get .17 hmr and .17 wsm.

  2. Push to allow for the ownership of handguns, but the handguns must be stored in lockers at gun clubs, which you must be a member of. This way, you can have a .22 1911 without a coat hanger or 12” barrel, but you’d have to store it at the gun club and only can use it there. This would probably make people less freaked out. Here, you’d still have your caliber limits. A semi auto pistol would only be .22 rimfire (or .22 rimfire and below), but could have .357 or .44 magnum revolvers.

  3. Amending the air gun laws to allow for 12 ft/lbs energy for both pistol and rifle air guns. Air pistols require 6 ft/lbs to be the limit, but often people prefer to make their own, like the PP700, into a carbine with a stock. Also, there seems to be no limit to how small an air rifle can be. For mere ease of knowing the legal limits, make it uniform across the board.

From what I understand, UK gun culture is primarily sport based. All three of these measures appear to be within the spirit of said culture. Thoughts?

This was my second time shooting clay pigeons! How do you think I did?

I’ve always been a lover of guns, air rifles, airsoft, blanks and now finally real steel! Feels great to shoot a real gun. And finally have a local place to be target shooting! Next up id love to find a decent place to shoot some .22 or other calibre rounds. If anyone has any suggestions let me know! Cheers. 🍻

FAC

Just been shooting today. Really like it but worried I won’t get a FAC.

20 years ago I self harmed, once, didn’t get diagnosed with anything. Silly reaction to a breakup and being fired and nothing too serious.

I have anxiety meds to fly. I once talked to a doctor about low mood, and I once had stress counselling through work. This was just down to workload.

I told a doctor years ago I took drugs. I did, as a young adult, not in 15 years.

Is the criteria this strict? Is it worth me going to a club and taking part, if they won’t give me a cert?

Thanks

FAC/SGC Safe Combined

Hey folks. I am thinking about getting into clays. I shoot targets currently. If I apply for a SGC, am I allowed to store that shotgun in the same safe as my rifles? The safe is suggested for five guns and currently only has two. Just curious there isn't a weird rule about combining them. I'm the only person with access.

Seeking Advice: SGC Application with TVP and Old Mental Health Records

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of applying for my Shotgun Certificate (SGC) with Thames Valley Police (TVP) and would greatly appreciate some guidance given my circumstances.

Upon reviewing my medical history, I have identified certain past details that concern me in relation to my application. For context, I am currently 24 years old, but in 2015—approximately nine years ago—I was diagnosed with Depression NOS (Not Otherwise Specified) and exhibited a history of self-harm during my teenage years (approximately ages 15–16). The last entry regarding this matter in my records dates back to 2016. At that time, Child Protection was involved for reasons I would prefer not to disclose, leading to my referral to CAMHS, where I had regular consultations with a psychiatrist.

My primary concern is the potential impact of these historical records on my application. I understand the importance of complete transparency with TVP and intend to be fully forthcoming. However, I have also encountered accounts of individuals whose applications have been denied, sometimes without an opportunity to provide further clarification, simply based on the indication of “Depression.”

I have been practicing shooting for approximately one year intermittently and have completed around eight lessons thus far. Additionally, I have joined BASC for insurance purposes, as I believe it may enhance my application and align with my support for their cause.

If anyone has experience with TVP regarding their approach to historical mental health issues, your insights or experiences would be immensely helpful.

Thank you everyone for your time :)

Importing non firing replica guns

Hello, I bought a non firing replica gun and I was wondering if there would be a problem bringing or shipping this from the U.S to the UK. I bought it for a friend that lives there.

Capping the Cost of Doctor's Note

After recently renewing my shotgun license, I was rather shocked to be charged nearly double the cost of the renewal from my local Doctor's Surgery to complete the mandatory health form.

I have no issue with the Doctor having to complete said form, these are deadly weapons, but when the cost of the mandatory form can be in the hundreds, there is clearly something awry.

I have started a governemt petition asking for a cost cap on this medical form, and also that Doctor's cannot refuse to complete it.

If any of you could take a few moments to sign it, we may be able to make a difference.

Thanks in advance

I know these types of questions are a pain, but can anyone recommend a decent modern-ish range around Leicestershire?

I’m in Coventry but the Jaguar club is basically in a leaky shed and I can’t fit inside comfortably (6ft 5) and the Greyhound one doesn’t reply to my emails. Happy to drive an hour ish, but ideally not Birmingham way as that can easily turn into two hours if unlucky

Cheers J

GSG AK47 Reliability

Hi,

I was just looking for a bit of advice for my first firearm. I've recently received my FAC and was wondering if the GSG .22 AK47 was any good just for standard target shooting?

I don't have a massive budget but also don't want to continue using club guns and would like to get something that is my own responsibility to maintain and modify etc. I personally prefer the AK style of rifle compared to the AR one, so am aware I could probably get a higher quality 15/22 at a similar or lower price.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Matchlock Musket

I have a question that I was wondering if someone could help me with. I'm an English Civil War reenactor and I'm currently looking around to potentially buy a non-firing matchlock musket in the not to distant future. I really like the one from the American company 'Military Heritage' who do a nice one in a non-firing state for a good price, plus I've heard that they're a quite a good and reputable company. However, although its a non-firing musket, if only utilises the lack of a touchhole to connect the pan and the breech, and there's no slats/holes cut in the bottom of the barrel or any sort of plug part of the way down its length. While it is still in a non-firing state, and one which I don't have any plans to modify or alter it from, I mentioned the idea to some friends from my regiment, who warned me to be careful, as although it still cant fire, it could create problems as all you would need would be a drill to change that, so while its still nominally and theoretically legal, they said it might still be 'frowned upon' by the authorities. Once again I must stress that I have no intention of doing this, plus even though it is non-firing, I still planned to buy a lockable gun cabinet to put it in if I were to get it to be extra safe. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on whether this is completely fine, or if it would be better to look somewhere else for one with a more 'thorough' deactivation process in place, the last thing I want is to cause any trouble with the law. If anyone could recommend any other sellers if this is the case that would be great, thanks!

Here's the link to the one if was thinking of getting (model B with the trigger guard): https://militaryheritage.com/musket15.htm

I didn’t take any pictures due to privacy of the guy but it didn’t look to be 60cm long, maybe 12in barrel at best?

How long for receiving an antique gun

So I bought 2 antique guns about 15-20 days ago now. I bought them off 2 different sellers by the way anyway I was just wondering how long it takes for them to arrive. The sellers promised it would take a week but it’s been a couple now and still nothing. And the tracking numbers are acting up as well. I might off been scammed. Hopefully not. But I was thinking that it might take a few weeks/ a month max to ship. Does anyone know if this is suspicious. I’m biased in Northern Ireland btw and maybe that’s why it’s taking twice or 3x as long to ship. Cheers

Gun usage monitoring

Hi

Am an FAC holder administered in the MPD.

We've just had a message through from our club which talks about tracking of usage of firearms and ammunition.

We do usage already through a paper process but this is going to move to an electronic system.

Is anyone privvy to the rationale here, is it to ensure people are actually shooting? Is there going to be positive or negative view of people who are shooting alot or a little?

Changing shotgun for S2 to S1

If I have a S2 shotgun, say a mossberg M590 with a crimped magazine tube, can I simply buy an uncrimped magazine tube online and switch it out when I obtain an FAC?

Ie I don’t need to buy a new shotgun.

And I’m guessing obtaining a magazine tube before you obtain an FAC would not be illegal (as long as it was not put on the shotgun of course)

Pidgeon shooting

Hi,

I’m meeting with a local farmer who may be letting me Pidgeon shoot on his property. He wants to meet first and have a walk around his property and have a go at some Pidgeons if we see any while walking around. What’s the best load to use for pidgeons? 32grams 6s? Or are there any other options?

TIA

Does anyone know any shooting clubs in the north east area?

I want to try and join a firearms club and perhaps even apply for a firearms licence. I collect ww2 militaria and would love to own a couple of original ww2 era rifles in the future.

I'd appreciate any advice as to how to go forward with looking for a club. Also please forgive my ignorance, I'm very new to this sort of thing.

A few questions about the GSG 1911

Picked up a GSG 1911 last week as my first LBP and I’m loving it so I want to put a bit of money into it to make it as good as I can. What is worth upgrading on it and can I where could I get tighter hammer springs as I’m getting the occasional light strikes. I only use it for plinking at an indoor range and I’m brand new to pistol shooting so I doubt I’ll notice the increased accuracy.. I’d appreciate any other advice too as I’m relatively new to shooting in general.

Mini-14 Stabiliser rod

Does anyone know if it’s possible (and allowed) to get a hold of a mini-14 stabilising/accurising rod in the UK without shipping it to someone in US to bring back?

Do they ever sell second hand this side of the pond online or at shows?

No, I don’t want an AR-15, I’m not buying one.

So I am taking my deer stalking assessment in the new year and am looking to get some practice with a full-bore beforehand. Does anyone have recommendations of a place where I can get the necessary practice for a DSC1 assessment?
