Tourist Ranges or Alternatives

Hello everyone,

I have a trip planned to Europe for late September and one of the stops will be Interlaken, Switzerland. I'm interested in finding a local range that rents an SG 550 or... someone who would possibly be interested in taking me to the range in exchange for a range trip on the east coast, U.S, if you ever come this way. Ammo/range costs would of course be covered by me in any scenario. I love going to the range, but equally as much, I love handling and field stripping firearms to see the inside and how they work, so any opportunity to do that while on the trip would be awesome. Thanks in advance for any leads!

Zurich shooting ranges for rental guns

Hi, I’m a college student from the US doing a semester abroad in Europe. Next month, I’m going to visit a friend in Zurich. I love guns, and know that there are some guns that are much easier to find in Switzerland than in America. My friend and I are planning to go to a shooting range for an afternoon and rent some guns, and I was hoping that you guys could offer some recommendations for which ranges we go to.

My goal is to try out guns that are rare in other parts of the world - in particular, any variant of the SG550 series of rifles, and if possible, a full auto Glock 18 (which would be a real dream come true). I certainly wouldn’t complain about an opportunity to shoot an HK MP7, either.

Back home I have access to shooting ranges with less special guns (ARs, AKs, MP5s, semi auto handguns, revolvers, etc), but if any Swiss ranges stand out as having particularly excellent prices or facilities then I would still appreciate hearing which ones to go to, even if they don’t have the rarer guns.

Thank you!

StGw 57 Handload Question

Does a StGw 57 with a heavy barrel hold up to a filled methyl nitrate handload? in the 1420's methyl nitrate was known as "Schiesswasser" (german for "shooting water")

Swiss K31 Identification Card - Help

Hey all, my friend recently bought a K31, and there he found an identification card under the buttstock; We have been able to determine the birthyear, the address of the owner, and the year of manufacture (1952), but aren't able to figure out what the other numbers (728 and 334/3) means. Any help in figuring this out would be appreciated!

Why are most modern handguns that come out of switzerland CZ 75 clones?

I'm an American and im wondering why all the handguns you can buy from Switzerland our CZ75 clones. The Swiss are Responsible for the P210 and 220 series of handguns. Some of the best handgun designs ever. Nothing wrong with the CZ 75. Is it a really popular platform over there?

Can you use a G1889 magazine in a 1896/11 rifle?

Basically what it says in the title. The 1896/11 is a retrofitted 1889/96 that was modified to accept GP11 cartridges and is functionally mostly identical to the 1911 infantry rifle; however, it looks like the earlier magazine holds were left in place during the retrofit:

So yeah: Can you functionally insert a 1889-style magazine into a 1896/11, and if so, would it take and feed GP11?

Most Firearm Friendly French Canton?

Hi all, I'm a Canadian who works in the IT field. My partner and I have decided to make the move away from Canada for various reasons. Switzerland was our top choice due to French speaking areas. My job is very flexible as I am able to work remotely from anywhere. Sport shooting has always been a big part of my life and I have competed for many years. Just was curious if anyone knew which of the predominately French speaking or bilingual Cantons were most friendly towards firearms and the laws around them? Thanks in advance.

what is the future of guns in Switzerland?

Do you think it will be the same, more strict, or more liberal? Thank you
