I’m looking for songs about being a dad and having a son. Anyone have suggestions?
What’s everyone’s thought on self titled’s? What’s your favorites?
My favorite band's debut album 'Say it Like You Mean It' shows up in track #6 'Almost There, Going Nowhere' as a stand-alone lyric, not a chorus.
I'm curious to know what other bands/albums that have done this.
Track 1: The Wonder Years - Came Out Swinging
Track 2: New Found Glory - My Friends Over You
Track 3: Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
Track 4: Sum 41 - Fat Lip
Wasn't remotely close.
Now list your favorite Track 5 on a pop-punk album. If it's already listed, just upvote that post. The most upvoted song wins, and then we go onto track 6, and continue to 13.
I personally think Bleed American is a masterpiece, really captures the whole vibe of the album pretty succintly. Welcome to the Black Parade is also pretty high up there. What are yours?
Is there a release that you were really looking forward to this year that just didn’t live up to your hype? Mine was Lieu Of Flowers by Aaron West.
I've been keeping track of releases during the year and I have jotted down some notes about albums and EPs I've discovered, enjoyed and listened to. I'd love to hear your thoughts, whether you've discovered any new bands and your favourite releases.
I've written about some new releases by new artists I've discovered, including a fun album by The Blast Monkeys and EPs by All Atomic Astronauts, On Second Thought and a band from the Czech Republic called Bitter Season. I also discovered a few new bands that had older releases. The Run For Cover EP by New Aesthetic was one of my favourite releases along with albums by bands something missing and Full Throttle.
Last year I discovered a lot of great bands and this year they've released a lot of good music. My most played release of the year was The Cleanest of Houses Are Empty by Carly Cosgrove, followed by Midfield's self-titled debut album and full-length releases by Origami Angel, Real Friends and Eternal Boy. I also enjoyed Calling All Captains' EP and the ska-punk collaboration album by Stacked Like Pancakes.
There were plenty of releases by bands that have been making music for decades. Billie-Joe was busy with another Green Day album as well as a full-length Pinhead Gunpowder release. Sum 41 signed their farewell with a double album, mixing punk and metal. Folk-rock superhero Frank Turner returned with his tenth full-length release. Anthony Raneri was busy with an EP under his own name as well as a full-length album by Bayside. And a new EP from ska-punk royalty Less Than Jake!
Finally, there were a lot of releases by bands I call "revival artists" – bands between 2010 and 2020 where I didn't listen to much new music but were big in the genre. There were albums by Neck Deep, Aaron West, The Story So Far, Four Year Strong, FIDLAR, CLIFFDRIVER and Tiny Moving Parts.
My most listened-to artists were; Carly Cosgrove, Mustard Plug, Spanish Love Songs, Good Hangs, Trophy Eyes, Cleveland Avenue, Less Than Jake, Origami Angel, Green Day, Eternal Boy and Midfield. My most played songs were;
Anyone at the Ho Ho Hot Mulligan show last night happen to know the Fireworks setlist?
Any love for these guys? Been a fan of theirs for a bit.
Looking for mostly deep cuts. My most underrated pop punk album OAT is The Posture and the Grizzly - I Am Satan. The perfect blend of pop punk, emo, post-rock and indie. Plz LMK your recs
My favorite band and most played on Spotify from like 2020-2022.
Where are you, man? And don’t tell me about Punk Rock Museum tours or whatever.
Please come back.
I saw them at warped tour one time and never heard from them again, but they did have a couple bops
These guys were by far my most listened to band in 2024 according to spotify. Criminally underrated IMO
I'm talking about their Under the Radar Era, which is a masterpiece btw. A lot of people describe them as screamo but their music sounds more pop punk with screaming than anything.
Forever my favorite band. (Miscomunication also my fav on this album). The cool thing about his songwriting is how the emotion builds to like a plea towards to the end of a lot of these songs. Like searching for a resolution to a specific story or idea. I think specifically he writes some of the best bridges in this genre, which tend to be the peak of that build.
In my life, or in real life should I say, I have only ever met 1 person who knows this band. They are another band of the the glorious era of pop punk that never really cracked the mainstream despite being an incredible band. I'm just curious to know if anyone else knows them? Or has seen them live in the past and would care to share their experience?
