Subreddit for Punk Rock music, and culture.

1.Post guidelines

News, interviews and tour dates are encouraged — especially if it helps to spur interest at the local and international levels. In-depth discussions on all aspects of punk culture, from DIY projects to neighborhood bands, are even better.

2. Bland Song Posts

Adding info to your song posts — genre, location, year — gives us an incentive to check out your submission and makes it easier for us to discover bands in our neighborhoods.

3. Repetitiveness

Repetitive questions and discussions on stale topics — What’s the meaning of punk? You’re not a punk if you do X, Y and Z, Is Green Day Punk? What do you think about G.G. Allin — will be removed, they've been posted before if you want to know the answer search on the sub or check out our FAQ under resources.

4. Blacklist

Blacklisted bands are bands every Punk knows, their songs are used to karma farm on this sub. Songs by these bands can only be posted on Thursday, or if it is new music put out by the band, this rule only applies to songs/albums. These are the bands: Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Black Flag Blink 182, Choking Victim, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Descendents, Green Day, Leftover Crack, Minor Threat, Misfits, NOFX, The Offspring, Operation Ivy, Pennywise, Ramones, Rancid, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion

5. Don't discriminate

Any racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia will not be tolerated, nor will be the use of slurs. Any of this is a bannable offense. This is a community of Punks, all are welcome and all should feel welcome.

6. Spam

Posting more than five songs a day is considered spamming and is a bannable offense.

7. Reddiquete

Follow reddiquette. Downvote content that contributes nothing to the community — not stuff that differs from your personal tastes. Unnecessary downvoting chokes varied content creation and discourages unique submissions.

8. Memes

No memes or image macros. These should be taken to r/punkmemes.

9. NAZISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

This is a Punk subreddit, we will not allow Nazism, or Nazi apologists to plague our scene or our sub, this is an immediate ban. This includes RAC and other fence walking bullshit. Images and videos of Nazis getting what's coming to them are welcome, but it's got to be Punks or Skins giving them the boot.

10. No Criminal/Illegal activity

Posting anything that indicates involvement in illegal activity, or could incriminate someone is likely to be used by bad people to put this community and its members in danger, and is absolutely forbidden.

The Blacklist

Posting of songs or albums (Including live recordings, covers, and rarities) from blacklisted bands is limited to Thursday. New music and covers of blacklisted songs are allowed anytime.

Blacklist
Bad Brains Bad Religion Black Flag
Blink 182 Choking Victim The Clash
Dead Kennedys Descendents Green Day
Leftover Crack Minor Threat Misfits
NOFX The Offspring Operation Ivy
Pennywise Ramones Rancid
Sex Pistols Social Distortion

Whose biopic would want to see more? Joey Ramone’s or Joe Strummer’s?

We all saw Pistol on Disney+. Whose biopic are you dying to see on the big screen? (Joey’s Netflix biopic seems to be in permanent limbo, which sucks.)

Tell me I’m wrong

I grew up watching the A-Team. Mr. T was my mohawk idol. They fought and battled for good and we never saw people being hurt.

Creeping on 50… Is it wrong that I watch the 2010 movie every couple days dreaming for a better day?

I’m dying inside right now.

Made with love...

Please ignore my shitty stitching. Was drunk. The end.

Funny backstory of how that came to be on my jacket.

Was checking out at a thrift store. I didn't know, but there was a little box of 4 "Made by" things in my basket when I used it to shop, and I didn't know it til I got home. I paid a quarter for them, and I'm glad for that happy accident. Filled it out and sewed it on.

Peace, and Prost!

Just looking for some band suggestions.

Hey I'm 51 year old punk and I'm really out of touch scenewise. I moved from N.O. for DFW a few years back and was looking for some modern punk along the lines of DK, FEAR, early Meatmen, The Stooges, DOA, Sex Pistols, New York Dolls, Circle Jerks. Stuff with an older feel but modern lyrics. I don't care if they've been cancelled for what a band member di, shit changes and I know some of you guys play by a different ruleset and that's ok. Not into fascist shit. I just joined you guys this week and I know you guys aren't either. Also anyone familiar with the DFW punk scene holler at me. Thanks guys. REFUSE,RESIST!

Songs/bands that are feminist but not necessarily riot grrrl?

I listen to a lot of riot grrrl already so I'm more interested in bands that have some feminist aspects or songs. I'm not super new to punk but I definitely need to listen to more punk bands

New York

Headed back to Illinois from Toronto tomorrow. We're gonna pitstop in NY/NJ on the way home. I'm gonna walk Broadway, enter all the giveaways, etc, but we're looking for something to do.

What's the punk scene like in NY? Where are the punk landmarks to hit? Any queerpunk/leather/petplay spots? Hopefully NOT looking for just shopping, we don't have much to spend.

What the hell is with some of y'all just not respecting pop punk?

I mean I've seen so many good pop punk bands just being shit on so bad. I was talking to a friend the other day and I told him I went to see green day and rancid and that they were my favorite punk bands and hand he said they were "poser shit for people who don't know what punk is"

Amyl and the Sniffers - London 15 Nov

Amazing night, boundless energy by the band and audience, at the Roundhouse. Punk history in the making!

At one point - not in this video - a security guy (in uniform) was crowdsurfing, and got a mention by the ban. Classic!

Crowdkilling, used to not be cool?

I'm 26, I've been going to local punk metal and hardcore shows since I was 13. When I first went and for years after all the old heads, the general scene attitude, and even the assholes knew it's some loser shit to crowdkill. All the dudes who I did see do it would get their shit wrecked and kicked out, made fun of, and would be used as an example of what not to do, by the older set and the younger. It feels like ever since the pandemic become manageable and we've gotten back to shows that scene mindset is gone. Now crowdkilling is the norm, people get shit for not wanting to do it or not wanting it done to them. Dudes who do it are the ones doing the lecturing on scene etiquette. I got my feelings on it but I don't wanna just fight about it, I want to know if my understanding of scene attitudes and culture shifting is accurate, or if I'm completely off base. Thanks.

If you could help me out, lemme know where your scene is and if crowdkilling is an issue there. Thanks
