/r/punk
Subreddit for Punk Rock music, and culture.
Post guidelines:
1. Relevance to punk music/subculture
News, interviews, and tour dates are encouraged — especially if it helps to spur interest at the local and international levels. In-depth discussions on all aspects of punk culture, from DIY projects to neighborhood bands, are even better.
2. Bland Song Posts
Include info in your post [subgenre, location, year]. This contextualizes the song, gives an incentive to check out your submission, and makes it easier for us to discover bands in our neighborhoods.
3. Repetitiveness
Repetitive questions and discussions on stale topics — What’s the meaning of punk? You’re not a punk if you do X, Y and Z, Is Green Day Punk? What do you think about G.G. Allin — will be removed, they've been posted before if you want to know the answer search on the sub or check out our FAQ under resources.
4. Don't discriminate
Any racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia will not be tolerated, nor will be the use of slurs. Any of this is a bannable offense. This is a community of Punks, all are welcome and all should feel welcome.
5. Spam
Posting more than five songs a day is considered spamming and is a bannable offense.
6. Reddiquete
Follow reddiquette. Downvote content that contributes nothing to the community — not stuff that differs from your personal tastes. Unnecessary downvoting chokes varied content creation and discourages unique submissions.
7. Memes
No memes or image macros. These should be taken to r/punkmemes. Or /r/punkfashion.
8. NAZISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
This is a Punk subreddit, we will not allow Nazism, or Nazi apologists to plague our scene or our sub, this is an immediate ban. This includes RAC and other fence walking bullshit. Images and videos of Nazis getting what's coming to them are welcome, but it's got to be Punks or Skins giving them the boot.
9. No Criminal/Illegal activity
Posting anything that indicates involvement in illegal activity, or could incriminate someone is likely to be used by bad people to put this community and its members in danger, and is absolutely forbidden.

I’m curious about what punks ended up doing as work, careers, etc..
I knew I didn’t want to be part of an office hellscape.
I knew I didn’t have a mind for sciences or medical work, I needed to do something creative.
I’ve been a floral designer for 15 years and have never regretted my decision to stay in a creative professional space.
I’ve turned down offers to work in a corporate field many times.
What do you guys do?
I’m specifically interested in Gen X ‘s stories here… and millennials
There is an adage that fascism occurs when one third of the population persecute another third of the population while the final third spectate. (Paraphrasing)
So it's obvious in the US election, less than a third voted for either party. So what do people think of the people who sat on the sidelines and didnt vote?
I'm a little punk, and I try my best to make as much of a difference I can in my peer groups and my community. I volunteer when I have free time and teach in a club at my school about politics and activists in history like the Black Panthers and the Gay Liberation Front. However, I want to pull more of people my age group into these causes and actively help out with my community, but I am on the autism spectrum and struggle to communicate well. If Anyone could direct me to resources that would allow me to communicate and recruit people as well as spread awareness. Our nation (murica) is in a not great spot right now for any minorities or oppressed peoples, and I really want to do as much as I possibly can to fix things and bring justice and education to my community. Any advice on where to find people, methods of organizing, personal anecdotes, and any advice is appreciated,
give me a spotify link to 1 song and i will add it to the Playlist!! do your best to not post duplicates. only 1 per person!

He posted this earlier. If you are unaware of this choad, he is a MAGA cultist from hell. I was going to post some of his things he puts up on Instagram, but this group doesn’t allow pics. Look for yourself. He is anti DEI, anti trans, pro 3rd term for his dictator among other things. He’s part of the problem and sadly a fellow Tennessean. I’m urging everyone to spread the word. Let’s really give him the voice of the people.
Hey, I just wanted to share a sample of something I’m working on. I hope you like this but I don’t know if this pop punk or punk rock. Thoughts?
Making some patches right now and was wondering if anyone knows some similar to punkstencils.
im doing a research project about punks, and for evidence i need punk songs mainly about anarchy - i have The Sex Pistols “Anarchy in the UK” but idk i cant seem to find more?
(Quick comment, I made these myself since I could not find the lyrics ANYWHERE. I used a combination of AI tools and my ears to make these. If something is wrong, I apologize in advance. Also I apologize for the format, don't know how to fix it.)
I'm not getting anywhere fast The dark big days ain't gonna last There's gonna be a revolution There's gonna be a neat solution
Sirens scream and blare all night Young fast-travel mates from twilight From the corners of the streets they come And you know they ain't never gonna run, NEVER
On the streets, Violence hates no class On the streets, How long will this last? On the streets, Violence hates no class
Why paint a city red While suburbia stays it's head Factions like up against the wall Divided and angry when they fall
Normal life destroyed by few Nothing left for you to do Pictures of electors on every corner They're not there just to warn ya
On the streets, Violence hates no class On the streets, How long will this last? On the streets, Violence hates no class
Looted shops and burning stores That's what's left in anarchy's jaws Strengthen the stigma for the winner While the weak will say, DOG'S DINNER
On the streets, Violence hates no class On the streets, How long will this last On the streets, Violence hates no class

We don’t care if we’re destroyed, we’ll never capitulate.

Is there any problem with me wearing crust pants without being totally punk?
Like, recently I've been having this doubt: am I really punk? I have incomplete crust pants and a hat with patches and spikes. I like some punk rock bands, and even some noisecore bands. But like, there are things in punk ideology that don't totally fit into my ideology (or maybe I don't fit into punk ideology) like: I'm more focused on communism than anarchism, and I don't have a very clear opinion about nihilism.
So from this I wonder if I'm really a punk, or if I would be more of a kind of half-punk (if that exists), since I mix some elements of the skater style and other types of clothing in my own style.
Back to talking about crust pants, and my other clothes that could be considered punk clothes. I'm asking if it's okay to wear a crustie without being totally punk (or not knowing exactly if I'm totally punk or something else like that), because I saw some people talking about it and realized that there are a lot of different opinions. Some say that there is no problem, since limiting what someone else wears is a contradiction to punk ideology itself, others say that I would be called a poser, and still others say that I will get a beating!
This makes me really confused because I don't want it to look like I'm putting patches with band names on my clothes to pretend to be something I'm not. Wearing clothes with patches has almost become part of who I am.

I understand that worrying about this is pretty stupid, but I'd like to at least have an idea. As for whether or not I'm a punk, that's also something that's been confusing me recently, so if you can help me in any way, whether it's saying I'm a fucking poser, loser or anything, that would be great for me.
Thanks. If I said anything wrong, please correct me :)
If you find any errors in the text, it's because I'm Brazilian and I'm not exactly the best English speaker, so I used Google translate in some parts:D
I love learning about rock history, and boy punk history is interesting, considering how niche and collaborative a punk scene can be
I just found out today that Amoeba by adolescents was written while Rikk and Casey were still members of Social D, and that the basic musical structure was composed by Mike Ness. Then after Rill and Casey left to form their own band they changed the music a bit and it became the final version of amoeba, while Mike on the other hand changed the lyrics and kept his original composition and turned it into 1945
I was mind blown when I learned of this, and kind of reminded me of the Seattle grunge scene, with the songs “Times of Trouble” (temple of the dog) and “Footsteps” (Pearl Jam), in which the music composed by Stone Goddard was repurposed for both songs

As a Hispanic male living in Arizona, something should be done. I know one voice doesn't change anything. But something's got to give. Watching the protests in Phoenix was beautiful. I live in a small pretty conservative area so idk.
Fuck these fascists!
