1.Post guidelines
News, interviews and tour dates are encouraged — especially if it helps to spur interest at the local and international levels. In-depth discussions on all aspects of punk culture, from DIY projects to neighborhood bands, are even better.
2. Bland Song Posts
Adding info to your song posts — genre, location, year — gives us an incentive to check out your submission and makes it easier for us to discover bands in our neighborhoods.
3. Repetitiveness
Repetitive questions and discussions on stale topics — What’s the meaning of punk? You’re not a punk if you do X, Y and Z, Is Green Day Punk? What do you think about G.G. Allin — will be removed, they've been posted before if you want to know the answer search on the sub or check out our FAQ under resources.
4. Blacklist
Blacklisted bands are bands every Punk knows, their songs are used to karma farm on this sub. Songs by these bands can only be posted on Thursday, or if it is new music put out by the band, this rule only applies to songs/albums. These are the bands: Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Black Flag Blink 182, Choking Victim, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Descendents, Green Day, Leftover Crack, Minor Threat, Misfits, NOFX, The Offspring, Operation Ivy, Pennywise, Ramones, Rancid, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion
5. Don't discriminate
Any racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia will not be tolerated, nor will be the use of slurs. Any of this is a bannable offense. This is a community of Punks, all are welcome and all should feel welcome.
6. Spam
Posting more than five songs a day is considered spamming and is a bannable offense.
7. Reddiquete
Follow reddiquette. Downvote content that contributes nothing to the community — not stuff that differs from your personal tastes. Unnecessary downvoting chokes varied content creation and discourages unique submissions.
8. No memes or Image macros
Image posts are now reserved for only on the weekend (Friday to Sunday), and will be removed during the week.
9. NAZISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
This is a Punk subreddit, we will not allow Nazism, or Nazi apologists to plague our scene or our sub, this is an immediate ban. This includes RAC and other fence walking bullshit. Images and videos of Nazis getting what's coming to them are welcome, but it's got to be Punks or Skins giving them the boot.
10. No Criminal/Illegal activity
Posting anything that indicates involvement in illegal activity, or could incriminate someone is likely to be used by bad people to put this community and its members in danger, and is absolutely forbidden.
Posting of songs or albums (Including live recordings, covers, and rarities) from blacklisted bands is limited to Thursday. New music and covers of blacklisted songs are allowed anytime.

I noticed now that Steve passed away, the music of Big Black is back on Spotify. Is that a coincidence or has his music been put up only cause he's not around to protest it anymore?
This topic is interesting to me because it's easier to track now with everyone having phones and sets easily being uploaded onto YouTube.
But what about in the 70s - 00s when bands would tour and you might not know about it? Maybe they played that one song a few times and it didn't go over well so they never played it again.
I have many, but maybe Goldfinger's "Ocean Size" is at the top of my list. That song meant a lot to me when it came out.
Anyone here from Southern OK or North TX is encouraged to reach out to me about this. I'm building a practice space, for local musicians to experiment in, as well as just being a DIY space that will be welcoming for punks and friends of punks, in an otherwise conservative and religiously oppressive town where everyone seems to be doomed to boredom.
My band just dropped a new single, check us out! 😵💫
Even more Aussie Punk
Hey you filthy animals. I’m looking for any new recommendations for OI or street punk bands. I’ve been digging Conservative military image , Liberty and Justice , Crashed out , etc. Can anyone think of any other similar bands I might Cheers 🍺
I wanna make some fuck shit, punk chords on gods worst instrument, the banjolele???:)
Lyrics don't matter, preferably songs that have a similar sound to Hope by Descendents and Coral Fang by The Distillers
I'm a musicology student who's writing a paper on the differences between the listening and consumption tendencies of different genres. If you would like to help me with this paper, please fill out my survey. Genre tendency investigation (google.com)
So I’ve been looking for punk with a pedal steel in it somewhere (anywhere) and have yet to find anything. This got me to thinking; So we got Flogging Molly with the banjos and shit, we got that dude from Throwrag playing a washboard. Yellowcard has the violin. What’s y’alls favorite non-traditional instrument found within a punk setting?
Hey folks I'm looking for advice on getting a cool distorted effect on vocals live.
I'm looking for something that gives that garage punk sound dirty and echo-y and I was playing around with putting my mic through a delay and distortion pedal. And it sounds cool, but I can't make it loud enough with out feedback when we play. Even messing with the monitor and turning down the highs and such.
So I started looking at vocal pedals... but they all seem to be for like auto tune kind of stuff. We do use a Shure Green bullet which gives a cool sound. But not quite where we want things.
Would a preamp help? If so what should I get, looking lower/mid budget.
Thanks for any advice! If there's a different sub I should be asking, lemme know!
I was reading that post about Kathleen Hanna’s book tour and it got me thinking. I saw Le Tigre years ago and they killed, it was a fun little dance party. Anyone have an opinion on their favorite woman front person? Not necessarily vocally (Elizabeth Frazier has that covered) but more in the stage presence aspects of the role? My call would probably be that chick from Siouxie & The Banshees or Polly Styrene. I know there must be someone I’m forgetting though… Thoughts? Opinions?
doing a death to the bachelorette emo/punk bachelorette party this summer/fall and I'm the bride
only moved to NYC area two years ago looking for some classic good vibes emo or punk bars that play pop punk and nostalgia throwbacks that sorta fit the theme
note: aware of beetle house and it's on the list
I'm disabled and I rarely see any punk bands with disabled people/talk about disabled people I'm looking to broaden my music taste so even if it doesn't fit exactly punk please still recommend it to me. Thank you !
Have any of you been? Not allowed to take any photos (even from a phone) at the event, no meet and greet, and no book signing. Maybe it’s just me but sheesh. Way to greet your fans. And wouldn’t allowing photos to be posted to social media help to further her book sales?
I had two tickets to go see her book signing tonight and may still go but after reading this email they sent out last night I kind of feel like she thinks she’s better than everyone or doesn’t want to participate with her fans whatsoever.
Kind of weird to do an event where you read from your brand new book and then refuse to sign copies. 🤷🏻♀️
Has anyone else been to see it yet?
