Subreddit for Punk Rock music, and culture.

1.Post guidelines

News, interviews and tour dates are encouraged — especially if it helps to spur interest at the local and international levels. In-depth discussions on all aspects of punk culture, from DIY projects to neighborhood bands, are even better.

2. Bland Song Posts

Adding info to your song posts — genre, location, year — gives us an incentive to check out your submission and makes it easier for us to discover bands in our neighborhoods.

3. Repetitiveness

Repetitive questions and discussions on stale topics — What’s the meaning of punk? You’re not a punk if you do X, Y and Z, Is Green Day Punk? What do you think about G.G. Allin — will be removed, they've been posted before if you want to know the answer search on the sub or check out our FAQ under resources.

4. Blacklist

Blacklisted bands are bands every Punk knows, their songs are used to karma farm on this sub. Songs by these bands can only be posted on Thursday, or if it is new music put out by the band, this rule only applies to songs/albums. These are the bands: Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Black Flag Blink 182, Choking Victim, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Descendents, Green Day, Leftover Crack, Minor Threat, Misfits, NOFX, The Offspring, Operation Ivy, Pennywise, Ramones, Rancid, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion

5. Don't discriminate

Any racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia will not be tolerated, nor will be the use of slurs. Any of this is a bannable offense. This is a community of Punks, all are welcome and all should feel welcome.

6. Spam

Posting more than five songs a day is considered spamming and is a bannable offense.

7. Reddiquete

Follow reddiquette. Downvote content that contributes nothing to the community — not stuff that differs from your personal tastes. Unnecessary downvoting chokes varied content creation and discourages unique submissions.

8. No memes or Image macros

Image posts are now reserved for only on the weekend (Friday to Sunday), and will be removed during the week.

9. NAZISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

This is a Punk subreddit, we will not allow Nazism, or Nazi apologists to plague our scene or our sub, this is an immediate ban. This includes RAC and other fence walking bullshit. Images and videos of Nazis getting what's coming to them are welcome, but it's got to be Punks or Skins giving them the boot.

10. No Criminal/Illegal activity

Posting anything that indicates involvement in illegal activity, or could incriminate someone is likely to be used by bad people to put this community and its members in danger, and is absolutely forbidden.

The Blacklist

Posting of songs or albums (Including live recordings, covers, and rarities) from blacklisted bands is limited to Thursday. New music and covers of blacklisted songs are allowed anytime.

Blacklist
Bad Brains Bad Religion Black Flag
Blink 182 Choking Victim The Clash
Dead Kennedys Descendents Green Day
Leftover Crack Minor Threat Misfits
NOFX The Offspring Operation Ivy
Pennywise Ramones Rancid
Sex Pistols Social Distortion

Punks, stand up TALL and PROUDLY against Project 2025!

Now for some post election thoughts, I can totally understand your pain and anxiety, but you still have yourselves, your able bodies and minds, so please remember to look at man-made misery in the eye and give it the middle finger. Be ferociously kind, be ready to pounce upon cruelty upon the poor and otherwise socially marginalized... like how a pro wrestler takes down their opponent hard!

My daily anarchist mantra I repeat to myself every morning and night:

I do not fear poverty anymore, because I have something way bigger and better than money, which is my health and my healthy habits of eating only lentils and vegetables and rice at home. I am fearless, I am not a loser, I am a winner, I am a winner at life, I will rock this God-given physical heaven and make a mark on humanity! I will make myself not successful, but more importantly, mentally and physically strong, so that I can uplift humanity!

do people still fuck with bad brains? (local scene advice requested)

part of the local punk scene but haven’t run into a lotta people i get to discuss old punk with. Does anyone still like bad brains or minor threat or should i just stick to talking about local bands. Im pretty young and about a year into my local punk scene and Im not really sure how to make friends or anything and i love music and would love to talk about some of my favorite bands with people. However the scene feels very focused on local bands and aesthetic and partying and i guess i was sorta hoping to get at least some people to talk to about older punk artists as thats what lead me to shows and all. Any advice is super appreciated :)

When does pop punk stop being punk?

It’s not too controversial of an opinion to say that while most pop punk is its own entity, some of it has its place as a genuine punk band. I’m just curious as to what point you guys consider that to be?

For example, rise against, while being pretty obviously pop inspired, is still a punk band

Green Day, while even more pop inspired than rise against, is also still considered punk, especially their older stuff

Sum 41 has some songs poppier than Green Day, has others heavier than Green Day, almost like a weird mix of pop punk and crossover thrash, it depends who you ask if they’re punk or not

Blink 182, while still pop punk, is typically considered an outlier if a punk listens to them (I still love them, but I wouldn’t put them in the same playlist as the rest of my punk music, yk?

I’m curious as to where yall would draw the line

Best Trump-era punk rock albums?

I’m mainly referring to his first term (2017-21)

I’ve heard from some that his second term could spark some great music but I wanted to know if his first term sparked any? I mostly listen to bush-era punk rock and before and I’m not really that tapped in admittedly.

What good bands/songs/albums stemmed from trumps presidency?

Music recs, please!

Hey ya'll, I was just wondering if anyone might be able to help me find some more punk music to listen to. I listen to a lot of Bad Religion. I'm familiar with the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, X-ray Specs, the Misfits, the Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, as well as a few others. Can someone recommend me any artists that I can deep dive into? I'm really wanting to get to the basics of the genre and work my way up from there. Much appreciated!

I am very new to this subreddit (but not the ideology) so I am looking for music Recs {{not sure how to tag}}

Okay, so I tried scrolling to get an answer to this question and I couldn't find one so I hope this isn't breaking any rules- I am autistic and a lot of heavier, louder music is sensory hell to me but I love anti-authoritarian/anarchist songs. Does anyone have any quiet/gentler songs that still embody the ideology of punk in the lyrics?/genq

Patch ideas for sfw battlevest

I work at a school as a custodian in a pretty blue area. Lemme have your best sfw ideas I can sew into patches on my vest! Ones that really embody leftist ideals and call out the the real enemies of the people. Trying not to be too aggressive/confrontational. But if you have aggressive and confrontational ones, Ill take for those too, might make 2 🤘.
