/r/punk
Subreddit for Punk Rock music, and culture.
Post guidelines:
1. Relevance to punk music/subculture
News, interviews, and tour dates are encouraged — especially if it helps to spur interest at the local and international levels. In-depth discussions on all aspects of punk culture, from DIY projects to neighborhood bands, are even better.
2. Bland Song Posts
Include info in your post [subgenre, location, year]. This contextualizes the song, gives an incentive to check out your submission, and makes it easier for us to discover bands in our neighborhoods.
3. Repetitiveness
Repetitive questions and discussions on stale topics — What’s the meaning of punk? You’re not a punk if you do X, Y and Z, Is Green Day Punk? What do you think about G.G. Allin — will be removed, they've been posted before if you want to know the answer search on the sub or check out our FAQ under resources.
4. Blacklist
Blacklisted bands are bands every Punk knows, their songs are used to karma farm on this sub. Songs by these bands can only be posted on Thursday, or if it is new music put out by the band, this rule only applies to songs/albums. These are the bands: Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Black Flag Blink 182, Choking Victim, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Descendents, Green Day, Leftover Crack, Minor Threat, Misfits, NOFX, The Offspring, Operation Ivy, Pennywise, Ramones, Rancid, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion
5. Don't discriminate
Any racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia will not be tolerated, nor will be the use of slurs. Any of this is a bannable offense. This is a community of Punks, all are welcome and all should feel welcome.
6. Spam
Posting more than five songs a day is considered spamming and is a bannable offense.
7. Reddiquete
Follow reddiquette. Downvote content that contributes nothing to the community — not stuff that differs from your personal tastes. Unnecessary downvoting chokes varied content creation and discourages unique submissions.
8. Memes
No memes or image macros. These should be taken to r/punkmemes.
9. NAZISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
This is a Punk subreddit, we will not allow Nazism, or Nazi apologists to plague our scene or our sub, this is an immediate ban. This includes RAC and other fence walking bullshit. Images and videos of Nazis getting what's coming to them are welcome, but it's got to be Punks or Skins giving them the boot.
10. No Criminal/Illegal activity
Posting anything that indicates involvement in illegal activity, or could incriminate someone is likely to be used by bad people to put this community and its members in danger, and is absolutely forbidden.
Posting of songs or albums (Including live recordings, covers, and rarities) from blacklisted bands is limited to Thursday. New music and covers of blacklisted songs are allowed anytime.

Self-destruction has always kept a pretty close relationship to the notoriety of some punks; Sid Vicious, GG Allen, Darby Crash, etc. Still today, bands will cut themselves on stage, or end up bloody during their performance.
Great show tonight!
Another 1983 release on Mystic Records with punk bands from the Los Angeles area.

I was browsing some of my fav bands sites for merch and i saw this site( im unsure if its real) and thought it was funny since all the items are 500$
Hello to be real I made a belt that I thought would appeal to the punk ethos of being unapologetic, and bold with an alternative style to it. I can't cast metal in my bedroom and so I made it through a more traditional means. I wanted it to add to the community, but is that all irrelevant when it comes to the anti-consumerism aspect of it. It's diy in the sense that it's just me making this happen. But yeah is there any way to do something that's more designer for a punk audience?
I just recently had a conversation with the department head of an organization where these punk rock grifters, who claim to do benefits for said local non-profit organization, have not received the money claimed by this band and booking agent/promoting company. Demand receipts guys! There's enough garbage we have to deal with in life without these bad actors...
But this shit about people telling others how to act in their scene screams of normies telling punks to cut off our spikes and stop dying our hair. Just go buy a Barry Manilow album and a knit sweater like everyone else.
HC kids know what is gonna happen in their pits. They expect windmill kicks and such, because that's their fucking scene.
We have enough actual fake punks to deal with. Focus on them, and avoid hardcore shows if that isn't your bag.
You may not read comic books generally but I read the blurb and thought oh shit I gotta read this
My boys Private Compliment (Columbia, SC) are doing the damn thing! Kicking so much ass here in a place where punk rock is hard to come by. I’m the one in the Jason hockey mask and the Brews Not Bombs shirt. Great punk music from my hometown. https://youtu.be/jv-Dk_zaWag?si=uDcxNolmywe728Vf
If you live in the Sacramento area, this show looks to be a good one. Hopefully I’ll see you there!
Small rant, come to get this off my chest and maybe get another perspective.
There’s a few bands in my local scene which are really popular with college aged kids (age 16-18 for you Americans). They are usually really packed gigs and everyone knows each other which is great.
Problem is there’s a lot of these kids who go who wouldn’t usually touch the venue with a ten meter pole (which is fine, the place is for everyone and I love meeting new people) but a lot of the kids who go only to for this one band, barely or don’t support the other bands (the venue will be packed for the band in question but when the other band is on everyone has fucked off in smokers or left). They sneak drinks in which fair enough, they are underage and probably cheaper but this venue is on a thread and would have to close for a month just to get the toilet seat fixed. This has caused problems with most the audience (since like 90% are underage) being kicked out because a few people snuck some drinks.
The venue is open to everyone which is great and I love seeing familiar faces but it pisses me off to see people who don’t actually treat the venue or the bands with respect and use it more or less as a ‘under 18 nightclub’ just to get fucked (I am partial to a bit of vodka and a line of smt aswell) and then leave after the bands done.
The bands are good bands who came to popularity for playing a few school talent shows and are so down to earth and love their music but they’ve also picked up on it and have posted on their account several times reminding people to stay for the other bands.
For context I am the same age but it just pisses me off. Anyone else got a similar problem in their scene or another perspective on this?
Hey everyone!

Love & Rock ’n’ Roll🖤 -Brick Gum
I know obviously Dead Kennedys, and Oi Polloi (my favorite punk band) and maybe Black Flag? Not 100% with them, but what are some other good ones?
(I'm new to reddit, so please help me out and tell me if there's anything I'm doing wrong!)
So I've been getting more into horror punk lately, so I'd say I'm pretty new to that specific type of punk! I absolutely love hardcore punk though, and want to find some new bands that would be a good combination! Any recommendations for horror punk, especially with the request that it sounds like hardcore would be appreciated! Thank you all!
Any fans of the Oklahoma Art Punk band Debris out there?
