What if the 2012 Iheartradio festival incident never happened?

So, what if the moment before they signed to play there, Billie,Tre, or Mike got a vision of the outcome of their sad performance. How would it make a difference to Green Day? Would they be the same as now or completely different?

Ziggo Dome - 2025

We were lucky enough to bag gold circle tickets to Ziggo Dome in July next year, travelling over from the UK for a 1 night stay.

I was looking at the venue and surprised that has a relatively small capacity, max 17,000 I believe...but happy to be corrected.

How does a venue like this compare to the bigger venues? This is my 6th GD gig, but others have all been big venues: Dublin, Manchester, Huddersfield, Milton Keynes (2005).

I'm excited by the prospect of a smaller venue, but a bit nervous of the whole ambience and staging...tell me your experiences please guys

The AI demos have made me feel way better about myself as an artist

Has anyone else found themselves super inspired by the AI demos?

As a songwriter, I always struggle with lyrics and have a real 'first idea, best idea' mentality which can make it hard to scrap things if I don't like them. Plus if I start a song, I have a tendency to want to finish it while the inspirations there, even if I know the lyrics I'm writing aren't as good as the ones I started with.

Hearing the AI 20 demos, specifically Lowlife, has made me feel like it's ok to shelve things for years if needed. Lowlife was demo'd for AI (written however long before that) and didn't come out fully until Saviors, 20 years later, and it required him to fully scrap parts of the song to make space for new lyrics and themes.

Plus, hearing unpolished, unfinished, work-in-progress songs makes them feel more achievable, right? They aren't this perfect, incredible product that Billie just came up with, they took time and effort to create. I might not be able to write something as incredible of Jesus of Suburbia, but maybe, with enough time, effort and will, I could write something like the Jesus of Suburbia demo, hahaha

Help me find this video

I remember seeing a video of Billie holding a guitar and someone asks if it has wallpaper on it and he just throws it off the stage into the empty floor. Anyone recall this?

greentober had come and passed: here are my thoughts on every album

1039/smoothed out slappy hours

  • i didn’t appreciate this album until this listen through!! it’s only bops and for some reason i got obsessed with the live version of paper lanterns

kerplunk!

  • ….kinda forgettable….. i know i listened to it but i remember nothing…. Whoops! i say this but it also had my favorite GD song ever on it (the og version of Welcome to Paradise!!!)

dookie

  • i mean it’s Dookie, c’mon y’all!! i was lucky enough to see the Saviors Tour so i have a special appreciation for this album!!!! every song is a banger, but i don’t remember the names of half of them (that’s just a my memory thing i think LMAO)

insomniac

  • everyone says Warning is underrated but let’s not forget about insomniac!! def my fave album cover out of every album honestly, and just full of classics

nimrod

  • i can’t listen to good riddance without crying. enough said.

warning

  • good album! macy’s day parade! blood sex and booze! misery!!!!!!!! (ugh i love this song sm)!!! AND minority?? good ass album. minority live was WILD

shenanigans

  • i know this album is good but i cannot remember a single song off the top of my head… oh! haha you’re dead is such the perfect song for when im pissed tbh! also espionage is lowk good….

american idiot

  • if you want my full thoughts on AI, we’d be here for a while. it’s the album that got me into Green Day, and i have so many happy memories attached to it. if i’m being completely honest, i listened to this because i was doing a production of the musical, and fell in love with that score… then the real thing was even better!! i was sixteen when i was introduced to this album, and what a perfect time to listen right? holiday specifically is linked to so many different things for me, and it just brings me straight joy (straight being funny when im the only one of my friends who can say f@g lol, so they all just look at me for that part!)

21st century breakdown

  • me and mark zuckerberg will have the same song played at our weddings and i can’t complain…. also a fire album - heavily relatable

¡uno!

  • am i going to get hate if i say i love this album…? just the vibes are immaculate honestly, and it’s so stereotypical pop punk that i fuck with so hard

¡dos!

  • why is this album so horny.

¡tré!

  • i’ll forever appreciate this pun ngl. but good album! made X-Kid my graduation song!! little boy named train? banger

revolution radio

  • i love the more acoustic and emotional songs in this album!! Ordinary World was my top song of 2023, and i’m not at all mad. recently found out about the Miranda Lambert collab, that shit’s CRAZY!

father of all motherfuckers

  • this album sounds like Green Day making covers of the Jonas Brothers making covers of Green Day

no fun mondays

  • i don’t know if anyone else considers this an official album, but i just love how this album came to be overall yk? i would honestly rate the cover of Amico in my top GD songs lmao

saviors

  • there are people who were making jokes about the saviors tour being like taylor swift’s eras tour, and honestly even if the show was, i’d say the album is. this album showcases the best of GD from the past 36 years, and i just know their next album will be just as good if not better :)

i love this band so much

sorry for formatting! on mobile!

Did Green Day take inspiration from Serge Gainsbourg's "Histoire de Melody Nelson" for American Idiot?

"Histoire de melody nelson" is a concept album like American idiot, as first person

is it possible that Green day take inspiration from him ?

I tried to make Fancy Sauce sound like an American Idiot outtake.

I did this by using Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ drum track and splicing up a new drum track for it. I then play guitars and bass over it. FXRLY sang vocals for it and St Jimmy’s Stuff used AI for the American Idiot era Billie styled vocals. He then mixed the song to sound like American Idiot and here is the result. Hope you enjoy.

What is (in your opinion) the most underrated Green Day song

Not a song that's okay but incredibly low in popularity/recognition but a song that's has the biggest difference between popularity and quality. Personally, any song from Insomniac (other than Brain Stew) but I'll say either Stuck with me, or Stuart and the Ave.

I took this photo 13 years ago during a special Halloween themed show at the "Studio" (read: basement) at Webster Hall... Won the tickets through NY's K-Rock... What a night.
