Today we fall forward and lose an hour.
I think it's half-white
Plot twist: turns out she had a pony.
Saving.
Leon's speech won out!
If each character here had a thought bubble, what would they say?
Just finished a complete run-through of Veep for the first time and loved Selina's arc and JLD's absolutely incredible performance. Selina turns out to be one of the most morally awful characters I've seen in a series, up there with Heisenberg in Breaking Bad, and it's a character perfectly befitting the boundless cynicism generated by American politics.
The words she speaks at her mother's bedside just before they euthanize her mark a key moment in Selina's arc: "Those you love cannot be lost because they're always a part of you." I think it's the only time in the series Selina says anything to anybody in a situation where they can't react, effectively making them words she's saying to herself - she's so petrified by the thought of not being loved, a fear her mother instilled in her, that she spends her only self-reflective moment on the show pushing the thought away. And it's also a hackneyed speech; even in her most personal moments she has nothing but hackneyed speeches to make. She relies on them to communicate compassion without actually feeling it, as she sees compassion as a weakness.
I feel like this is the moment it becomes crystal clear that Selina won't change, that there won't be any kind of classic redemption, and that she's a perfect animal for politics.
Is it just me or is there a sexual tension between Kent and the VP towards the end of S1 and beginning of S2. I'm still watching S2, but I don't know I kinda ship them!
I wanted to vote for Jon H. Ryan, but all I saw was Jonah Ryan.
"Tommie."
basically veep but for the president. could be a prequel centered around president hughes term before he resigned
I’m doing a rewatch and I’m now on season 6 - after Jonah mistakenly votes for Selina in the congressional vote for president last season, everyone on her team now hates him and everyone is saying he cost her the election with that mistake. But… he didn’t, right?
As far as I can tell - if he voted for O’Brien like she wanted him to, then O’Brien would have just been president instead of Montez (because it never would have gone to the senate to pick between the vp candidates). And she wanted a republican so she could run again in 4 years… so he didn’t really ruin anything right? Like she wouldn’t have been president no matter what … am I missing something? Is there any reason why it would have been better for her if O’Brien was president instead of Montez?
Vice President Kamala Harris was told to keep her hands to herself Monday during a tour of a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Michigan, where the allure of touching “shiny” silicon almost caused a serious injury.
“Here is, actually, a harvested U-rod,” an employee at Hemlock Semiconductors in Saginaw informed Harris, 60, as she approached a large piece of silicon covered in what appeared to be plastic wrap.
“Can I touch it?” the Democratic nominee asked as her right hand hovered over the metalloid rod.
“Do not touch it,” the factory worker immediately responded.
“Those are very sharp,” another man on the tour informed Harris.
“OK … and shiny,” she observed, this time keeping her distance from the display.
Several social media users compared Harris’ behavior on the factory tour to the incompetent and cringeworthy Selina Meyer, the fictional vice president on the hit HBO comedy show “Veep.”
