Should I keep watching?

I absolutely loved Season 1. Easily 10/10 for me. Season 2 was also great, but I really didn't like the finale.

Season 1 was better imo because it had a self-contained mystery each episode with a satisfying conclusion. On the other hand, it seemed like every episode of Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger.

The first episode of Season 3 looks like it's making the same mistakes a lot of high school shows do when they try to follow the characters to college, and that's as far as I've gotten.

Based on what I've seen on this sub, the quality goes down more in seasons 3 & 4. So my question is, if I loved Season 1 and didn't love Season 2, is it worth it for me to keep going?

Dreamwidth Role-Play?

At the risk of outing myself and my nerdy, nerdy hobbies, I was wondering if any of you fine superfans role-played on Dreamwidth as a Veronica Mars character OR would be interested in doing so. My tough, sassy, blonde PI who shall remain nameless is getting a little lonely since it's not a popular fandom to RP from these days, and she could use some friendly OR hostile faces. If you're not familiar with RP but you're curious, I could show you the ropes. Just let me know here or in a message.

Is there a season 4 plus a movie or season 4 is what people call "the movie"?

Hii so I'm obviously new to Veronica Mars and I'm about to finish season 3 (I'm on episode 16) and I'm confused about how many things I have left to watch. Is there just season 4 and that's it or is it season 4 and a movie? Also I just wanted to say that I love the show!! Season 1 was perfect, season 2 idk I didn't like it and season 3 for now is good so I hope the next episodes I have left and S4 or the movie is as good.

Voice Actor?

I have been driven crazy by this voice I hear randomly throughout Veronica Mars. You can hear him in the very first episode, like 30seconds in, when Veronica is helping/meeting Wallace; he responds to a girl saying "yeah, I'll do it, I wanna be the guy up there tomorrow"

He's in several episodes throughout Season One and Two, I hear his voice randomly throughout my rewatches and I can always pick his familiar voice out of the crowd but can never seem to find who he actually is, can anyone identify the actor for me?

Edit: THANK YOU, Brodes87!!! It's Scott Menville! 🙏

I took pity on my mother and never showed her the end of season 4.

To this day she still believes Veronica and Logan ended up being happily married. We skipped the car bomb and everything else. I just told her she wouldn’t want to watch the rest because the season ends on a cliffhanger.

Finished season 4! (opinions)

OK, wow, I just finished season 4 and what a way to further redeem the show after season 3! I LOVED it.

The bombing storyline, although having already been done with Beav, was done well enough to keep me invested. You could tell right off the bat that the scope (and the budget) of the show was heavily increased. Neptune felt like a REAL, vibrant town. I think the original series did a decent job of this as well, but mostly stuck to the same locations. We never really got to see Neptune as a whole, its politics, random citizens, etc. It just felt more real. And because of that, I think it helped me get more invested in the mystery of it. This was a real place with real issues. I don't think a story with that scope could've worked in the original series run. The twist was not season 2 level, I mean I don't think anything could top that, but I continued to question myself until the very end if Penn was the bomber or not. Especially after Big Dick admitted to the Sea Sprite bombing so early on. He was sympathetic enough to keep doubting myself, and I'm just glad it wasn't Don. That could've been a real let down as it was too obvious and we didn't really know him.

Now let's talk the characters... I think one thing this show has ALWAYS been consistent about is Veronica and Keith. My love for both of them just increased so much this season. Seeing how much Veronica cared for Keith, telling him to sell out if he needs to as long he gets medical help, was just such a good moment. I loved Veronica's arc this season, I feel like it was very realistic for her character to want bad boy Logan back and then learn to accept him as he was, especially since that's one of the main reasons she left Piz to get back with Logan (which still bothers me btw I loved Pizonica). But surprisingly this season actually made me like Logan a lot more than I used to. I never disliked Logan, save for the beginning part of season 1, but he was never a favorite. I think this season bumped him up a few notches for me. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I've always preferred the nice guys over the bad boys, so I wasn't a fan of him and Veronica. But I think this season, seeing the change and maturity, made me warm up to their relationship a bit more. I still would've preferred Duncan, Piz, or Leo but I am now okay with them being together. Hell, I'll even say I like them together. I won't deny that I hoped that dream sequence with Leo was real, but I love that it showed the realism that yeah, even when you are in a loving relationship, you still fantasize about other people. It's whether you do something about that fantasy or not that truly tests your loyalty, and Veronica showed she was loyal until the end.

It was great to see Wallace, Dick, Weevil, and even Parker back which I wasn't expecting! Poor Dick lost everyone but his mom and I wish we could've sene his reaction to his dad's death. Also, everytime I heard a knock at the door at Veronica's house (which happened a lot) I was half expecting Mac to show up. Still a letdown we didn't see her. Weevil really made me love him even more this season, however. Him and Veronica quarreling was entertaining, especially since they're my 2 favorite characters of the series, and seeing how much Weevil cares about her is so wholesome. He's such a good guy, through that whole tough guy act.

As for the new characters, I surprisingly found them very charming as well! I liked Matty, she was a welcome inclusion to the show. Watching Veronica go from slightly threatened to proud at her intelligent protegee was fun, as was her friendship with Nichole. Still mad about that friendship loss, Veronica really messed up there, but it was something her character needed. She's been doing this her whole life, an invasion of privacy, and it's time she finally learned how exactly that stuff affects people. Very unfortunate because I loved Nichole too, I think she was probably my favorite new character as she just matched Veronica's energy so well. My favorite scenes were of her and Veronica getting plastered, smoking Weed, etc. I'm so happy they didn't try to make Veronica squeaky clean and showed us that, yeah, she parties just like most other young people. As someone also in the young adult phase, it was super relatable. The vibe this season put off was immaculate, young adult Veronica is awesome. Also very upset that Clyde and Keith didn't stay friends. While I get it, I really liked Clyde and their friendship. I felt bad for him, it really sounded like he liked Keith, but I get why he couldn't allow himself to be friends with a criminal.

Now for the ending... Wow. I kind of expected something to happen when they fixated on what Penn said, and once I saw the text I figured out exactly what was gonna happen next. I half expected Veronica to warn him in time, but when she didn't, my jaw dropped. Like actually my mouth was hanging open and I was just left dumbfounded. What balls to kill off one of the most beloved characters of the series, and breaking off the most loved relationship as well. I knew s4 was polarizing and I think now I know why. Personally, I loved this. Yes, me not being the biggest fan of Logan or LoVe probably plays a huge part in why this didn't bother me too much, but also I think it was an important event for Veronica's character. It was clear from her talk with Logan that she was tied to Neptune because of him and her dad. With Keith all better and Logan dead, she was able to once again break free from the choke hold Neptune has on its citizens and leave. Go do something else and get away from the toxicity the town exudes. I believe this fixes what bothered me about movie Veronica the most. She chose to leave her good life, her good relationship, for Logan's toxicity, for the town's toxicity, despite everyone telling her to turn tail. This brought it around full circle and showed her that Keith was right, she can't be in Neptune holding herself back. It sucks, because I liked Logan's development this season, but I think it was beautifully done. Her driving off into the sun was a masterful shot and made me a bit teary eyed. It was a tasteful send off to Logan's character with the email at the end, and I'm glad we got this ending. Unfortunately, not many fans are keen with their favorite relationship being torn apart and it saddens me that a lot of the fandom hated such a great story arc just because of that. And that we won't get a season 5 because of it as well. A part of me is still holding on hope, but I won't hold my breath. I genuinely believe this season, and the movie to some extent, saved the series for me after the train wreck that was season 3. I'm very happy I didn't allow the hate for it to get to me. Seeing a lot of posts with titles like "I hate season 4" was scary, but I made it a point to never read them for spoilers sake. But it definitely made me nervous going into it. I was expecting a boring, all-over-the-place season with terrible writing, but boy was I wrong! I was hooked until the end and the writing is some of the best the show has had in a long time. Overall, one of my favorite seasons of the entire series.

Overall ranking would probabaly be:

Season 1 > Season 4 = Season 2 > The Movie > Season 3.

I might give a slight edge to season 4 over season 2 tho just because I think Beaver's reveal, although mind blowing, was poorly done. They could have written him better instead of destroying his character by making him just plain evil. I don't think anything tops season 1 tho, it was a slow-burn but nearly perfect.

TLDR: I actually loved s4 😱

Edit: Was hoping for more discourse but damn me for being born Rob Thomas 😅

Ci sarà una 5a stagione di Veronica Mars?

La quarta serie finisce con lo spiraglio di un proseguimento ma Hulu's non sembra dello stesso avviso.

grace being abused by her parents

was there ever an explanation about why meg's parents were crazy and kept locking grace in a closet? was it a cult thing? why did they lock her up when her siblings were home?

if the answer is that they r just evil crazy people though i get it

who were you most disappointed in?

as in, during a mystery of the week, or even a longer arc i guess, who were you most saddened by when it was revealed they were the perpetrator? most of the VM reveals are really satisfying, but some of them end up being characters we were rooting for

like i always hate the pizza boy mugging/outing episode reveal because i thought kylie seemed so cool! but forcing your own girlfriend out of the closet? borderline psychopathic behavior. also cassidy’s whole story in general, i got that he had issues but i did quite like him before the reveal and honestly i feel like that was a wayyyy more destroying and heartbreaking end than season 1

what about you guys

Cliff McCormack's intro scene I'm season 4 is an achievement in character introduction

Whatever you feel about season 4, the first scene with Cliff McCormack is a beautiful piece of work and an achievement in character introduction. It is a long ass uncut shot. The blocking in this scene as Cliff walks through the hospital is just perfect. Cliff's one second reaction/interaction with the different stuff and people around him as he walks through the chaos tells you everything you need to know about a slick semi-shady lawyer.

Ooh and the 'Mr. Finish Line' background music. Just too perfect. It feels like Cliff is dancing to the beat of the song as he moves along.

Unpopular opinion: I liked season 4

Hey y’all—

I just did a V Mars rewatch for the first time in forever. I know I’ve seen the first three seasons multiple times and the movie at least once. I thought I’d seen the fourth season but now I’m not sure I ever did.

I was lurking on here while watching and saw so much hate for the fourth season. While I can see that perspective, I actually liked it?

I liked the mystery! I liked the throw backs! I liked seeing the progression of all our mains.

In the movie, Veronica is constantly referring to both doing detective work and Neptune itself like an addiction. It seems really natural to me that she’s become such a toxic, black and white person in season 4.

Logan worked through so much of his trauma and Veronica seemed to find this weak. As much as they loved each other, once he became a stable person, the spark seemed gone. Honestly, I didn’t understand why Logan even wanted to stay with her let alone marry her.

I know a big complaint is Logan’s ending. But without it, I don’t think Veronica would ever even consider healing. She thinks her rage is her strength, even though it just keeps burning her world down. Without a definitive ending of this relationship, she would never look inward. Who knows if she actually will, but her visiting Logan’s therapist at the end felt promising.

I also feel like Veronica had wayyyy more chemistry with Leo in this season than Logan.

I loved Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Nicole. JK Simmons as Clyde. Loved how high the stakes got with the mystery. Finally seeing Big Dick get his. Loved Matty as the protege.

Idk, I honestly don’t really know how else it could have gone? I almost liked it better even as a mini series than the full 20 episodes with so many episodic mysteries.

I would definitely tune in for a season 5 if it were ever in the cards.

I definitely understand I’m the odd one out on this, I just wanted to give this season some love.

Tourism in Neptune

For a school assignment, I need to create a character to use in advertising a beach tourist town (it can be fictional) and I wanted to do Neptune, so what would your ideas be for a character to attract tourists to Neptune?

Any Duncan truthers out there

Doing my probably 5th or 6th rewatch, currently at the end of s1. I'm reminded that I've always felt Duncan was a more interesting and sympathetic character than Logan, who really just sucked a lot in the first season (and Teddy Dunn was hotter imo!). Anyone else agree in the year of our lord 2024??????

Rewatching after years

It's all on prime and it's been a good 7 years from when I last watched them all. And now I'm getting seriously annoyed with some of the decisions the characters are making.

I'm currently on season 2 And logan destroying the lilly tapes instead of just putting them in a safety deposit box and giving the key to Veronica or even Keith. Just dumb.

Weevil just assuming logan did it and jumping him on bridge after over hearing a call and didnt bother to check up the facts. That lead to everything that went down.

I understand its a TV show Now older and wiser it's grating on me.

I just finished the whole show and I’m pissed!

I mean the whole 3 seasons, the movie and the last season. Does Rob Thomas have like a sad end fetish?🥲 I think except the first season every other season (and the movie) to a certain extent ends with Veronica being worse off than before. But it was a great journey nonetheless. But next time, I swear I’m not seeing anything without a happy ending. Too depressed now.😭😭

Dear Mods.

How about a Team Vinnie user flair tag? Other than Weevil, I'd absolutely be on Team V! I'd go for a Team Cliff tag as well.

Veronica Mars.....I'm watching you.....prriiivvaateeee eyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Anyway, these are some of my favorite characters. How about y'all? I mean, besides the obvious main characters, there are all kinds of interesting folks on the show.

Dean O'Dell anyone?

VM actors on other big shows

I am binge watching Bones and got to the episode where Enrico (Keith) and Francis (Weevil) both appear, in nearly parallel roles to their characters on VM. What are the best “Hey that’s ________!” moments from seeing our favorites in other projects? How hard is it for you to unsee them as the VM cast?
