This may have been answered before, but I still have no idea. And before you say it I have seen the Film Theory video on this topic from years ago. But I think there's a hole in his theory
He says Mr. PBH is a Morty, because of the frequent 4th wall breaking only done by The Smith Family and the fact that him and most other Mortys go to Harry Herpson High School, he also notes how him being a Morty would explain the 4th wall breaking because he'd have access to things like Interdimensional Cable to see the show for himself. I'm wondering how Mr. PBH would get to Dimension C-137 and this theory seems to imply that because he's a Morty he'd have access to an Interdimensional Traveling Device. But we know that he only gained access to one in Season 7 Episode 1 "How Poopy Got His Poop Back", the theory also acknowledged the absence of Mr. PBH's Rick
So the hole in Film Theory's theory is if Mr. PBH was a Morty, he'd have access to an Interdimensional traveling device right? He would have to to get to Dimension C-137, and we've already established Mr. PBH isn't a parasite by how he bled from Beth's bullet and how we know Mr. PBH has a kid.
I'm still left with the question: "What is Mr. PoopyButtHole?"
Evil Morty's intelligence surpasses Rick C-137's due to his strategic acumen and adaptability. Unlike Rick, who relies on his innate genius, Evil Morty has demonstrated a capacity for long-term planning and manipulation. He successfully outsmarted the Citadel of Ricks by using hundreds of Mortys to conceal his intelligence, a feat Rick C-137 deemed excessive but effective. Additionally, Evil Morty's ability to control Rick through advanced technology showcases his innovative prowess. His rise to power within the Citadel further highlights his tactical brilliance, making him a formidable adversary who exploits Rick's weaknesses.
Made this out of boredom
We can get into it in the comments but he only showed up in the beginning of the episode and at the end. I am completely behind Beth's decision.
Edit:S02E04*
He only seemed mildly annoyed that they had to leave but if his whole reason for being there was to find the man who killed his wife, it should have been a bigger deal that they had to abandon that dimension.
By this I mean Rick's who we're not on the citadel
Let's take a sec and realize that C-137 has goggles that allow you to see into another version of "you" through the use of genetic matching tech. All I'm saying is who's to say if this tech doesn't exist IRL be pretty cool but the rangers are real.
What's your favorite interdimensional show?
Further question is Rick c-137 which universe is c-137 the one Rick came from to avenge Diane’s death? The one we are in up until Rick screws up Morty’s love potion? Or the one they move to after that incident?
SPOILERS
Is Morty going to be replaced? On the very last episode Morty was found afraid of being replaced by Rick. Then last second puts a memory photo from the hole camera FROM his wallet onto the board of completion.
Why though? Did he hate that specific Morty? Did he think Morty wouldn't have made it out because he weak and figured replacing him would be easier? Is he going to clone him? Or be replaced entirely by another person? Was this last second decision to "off Morty" or has it been on his mind. Food for thought
In S7 'Back to infinity' it is revealed that Rick Prime used the omega-device thingy to kill Diane across all Dimensions but, in S3 'tales of the citadell we see Simple Rick - a Rick that quit science for a simple life with Diane and Beth. My question is: how could that be? The citadel - and the central finite curve- was build after the usage if the Omega-device so Simple Ricks Diane should have been dead. My theory is that the Device only worked around a limited amount of Dimentions, and while many Dianes died, many more are still alive and well, just shutoff by the central finite curve - so even C137 does not know about them, as I think it is very likely Ricks that keept their Dianes never became 'the smartest man of their universe' and were therefor cut of by the citadell. What's your take on this idea? Could a real Diane return? Is maybe Diane Prime still alive?
What's the episode where it shows rick making the citadel and killing other Rick's
So I've been thinking about what the organization is that Rick hunts down in his cry baby backstory. They clearly have some resources and appear to be a confederation of Ricks working under Prime. But why?
Maybe he just likes having underlings, but from what we know about Prime, he likes working solo. Plus the Ricks in the org seem to think they're protecting something valuable. So then the question is what is so difficult that Rick Prime needs help with it?
My hypothesis: Rick Prime was the first inventor in a technological revolution. He discovered portal travel, but, understanding that most every other technology was invented independently by different scientists, he realizes he won't be the last inventor. If a bunch of other people invent it then it seems probable they'll invent it multiple times. Once he's realized all that it would be painfully obvious that the invention of portal travel would inevitably create an interdimensional war between confederations of the inventing scientist's infinite selves. Naturally, wanting to survive that war, he figured it would be best to get a jumpstart on the competition and so started recruiting Ricks.
This seems to be confirmed in how fucked the area outside the CFC is. Clearly there have been people doing stupid shit with portals for a while. And people other than Rick definitely have portal travel outside the curve.
But then Prime tries to recruit C-137 who refuses and dismantles his organization, leaving a bunch of Ricks steeped in Prime's war rhetoric, believing that killing C-137 was the only way to save Ricks as a whole. C-137 showed he was a bigger threat and, when the survivors communicated the problem, he invented the CFC, whose boundaries aren't defined by Rick's intelligence but by whether Rick is the only inventor of portal travel in that universe.
Obviously if every Rick knew the truth about the CFC, it wouldn't be secure. C-137 and the Council probably spread the myth that it's determined by intelligence to keep it safe, which Evil Morty then internalized from his degenerate Rick. So he probably thought he was telling the truth in the S5 finale.
Essentially C-137 won by showing Prime that violence and nihilism are less effective than collaboration. In response, Prime uses the Omega Device to undercut that victory, killing Rick's wife in every dimension, and proving that despite ones best efforts, violence and nihilism are inevitable.
Thematically Rick's error was being selfish in his collaboration, saving the people he cares about and leaving the rest of the multiverse to rot. (This also mirrors the theme i described arising between Prime and 137). My guess is his show arc will eventually be to team up with Evil Morty, Birdperson, BPs daughter, MPBH, Marta from the game, and the fam all to fight a battle to build a version of the CFC that lets everyone have portal travel without breaking the fabric of reality. Or at least to help the people outside the CFC survive the nightmare reality he's trapped them in.
What do y'all think. I feel like 70% confident I've predicted the rest of the canon from here on out, but I'm sure y'all disagree lol.
Was laughing to myself earlier when I saw a memecoin called $Morty and the the idea of a morty coin bit on the show being too modern day Simpsons all I could think was “I turned myself into a coin!!” And lo and behold a $rick coin suddenly materialized. If you are reading this message from the council of Rick’s was a success.
Doesn't really make sense to me, he had the life he always wanted, a stable career and a nice apartment and decided to give it up and join Rick again. And he knew this would happen because when his girlfriend mentions how he didn't hang up the phone, he goes "how bout that." There's probably a simple explanation for this but I never really understood it.
So the concept isn’t that complicated. It filters every universe so that Ricks can only travel through the ones where they’re the dominant life form. Thing is, how does that manifest? Rick has been beating physically by things like Zeus’, Pheonix Person, Jesus (lol). He’s been beaten and matched mentally (his mini verse) although that was more an equal, but still, how can Rick have an equal when the CFC dictates that Rick must be dominant, he can’t be solely dominant if he has an equal.
Can anyone explain this cause it really confuses me.
Is Rick aware that there are (theoretical) Multiverse and Omniverses and Hyperversal structures? I just noticed that everything is about universes. But I also thought that Rick would be a person being aware of that...and as he's more than just intelligent...dies he truly care for everything? Even for his wife? Or is this just a game for him giving him this truly careless vibe he has...(A wonderful piece of art I admire)
The usual recommendations are Hitchhiker's Guide and John Dies At The End for those interested in similar vibes to R&M, but I've personally never been able to find a book or book series that scratches the itch this show (particularly in its first few seasons, even if I'm still a fan of the current run) managed to, between its brand of humor, trippy, mind-blowing concepts, and emotional gut punch moments.
A series of licensed "extended universe" paperbacks would make a lot of sense to me. It'd cost less to produce than graphic novels, we'd get new installments more frequently, and it'd harken back to an era of pulpy sci-fi books that R&M's storytelling has some roots in.
The time where something like this might have been financially viable has more than likely passed, but I still think it's fun to think about what it might have looked like.
Most of us here have seen every season of Rick and Morty more than once. We all have favorite things about the show. One of my favorite things about the show is when the characters make that one face. I’m not even sure what to call it but it’s hilarious and gets a laugh out of me every time.
I made a video of every time that face was made!
Rick says he didn’t use time travel. However, Rick lies often. I strongly believe that he did in fact used time travel to get these pizzas 🍕.
