[ALL] It's possible that the manga by Shotaro Ishinomori is one the main inspiration for Majora's Mask and possibly Wind Waker

I am going through material that was made for the Legend of Zelda games I am playing through, right now I'm at 'A Link to the past' so I'm checking out the manga (one of them, several were made) with the same name made by Shotaro Ishinomori.

Stumbled upon this page and was immediatley thinking of Majora's Mask mask mechanic.

Of course, masks aren't a new concept or anything, nor was there any 'huge power' to it except it being a disguise, but the fact that the mask is depicting a Zora, I just felt it would be quite a coincidence.

For reference: This manga was made in 1992 (Majora's Mask was released around 2000, Ocarina of Time was released in 1998).

Even moreso, there's a literal depiction of a quite a forebearing moon. And there's a literal pixie with a personality, in a blueish light that is guiding Link.

The Zora mask and blue pixie engulved in blueish light

Forebearing moon (More like Jack Skeleton)

Even moreso, you got what you could argue is a prototype Rito. Although in this case, the character is a bird because of the curse of the Dark World they're inhabiting. Although I could be stretching it of course.

[Movie] How should the movie handle Link speaking?

First things first, I know that link isn't actually mute in most games, but despite that, I've still been seeing a lot of people worry about how they're going to handle his speech in the movie. We all know that no matter what they choose to do, some fans will be upset about it. I've seen three ideas being brought up the most, and I understand the arguments behind each of them:

    1. Link should just speak.

Silent protagonists aren't always mute and we know that Link can (and does) speak in most games! So why shouldn’t he in a movie? Why should the movie have to experiment with how the story is told, when the easier (and most canon) option is right there?

    1. Link should be selectively mute.

Someone who is selectively mute CAN speak, but doesn't always speak. This can be because of anxiety, speech impediments, autism, etc. Making Link selectively mute will allow him to both be a mostly silent person, while also having him speak at important moments in the movie. That way, when he does speak it'll carry more weight.

    1. Link should be completely mute.

Why give Link a voice, when he doesn't have an audible one in the games? (Except for the HYA's). Why break the tradition of Link never speaking? The movie would solely rely on body language, facial expressions, other characters, and maybe some simple sign language to communicate what Link is thinking to the audience.

While I would prefer number 2 or 3, I know it'll likely be number 1, which is not something I'm really upset about. I just hope all other aspects of the movie will be good. Are there any more ideas on how the movie should handle Link's speech? Or any further arguments?

Also, I would like to add that I am NOT a psychologist, I just gave the simplest explanation of what selective mutism is to keep the paragraph. I'm selectively mute myself and don't mean any harm to others like me.

[ALL] What is Link's connection to being an Apple Farmer?

I am going through several source materials, especially early ones as I move on from title to title, starting from the first Legend of Zelda to the last one.

I am now at Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past.

And from what I've read, two different manga that were loosely based upon the game, had Link being an apple farmer.

Is there any mention to this in any canon game or title? Or is this mainly just two different manga artists having the same idea?

[MM] Is it possible to play Majora’s mask online with the 2Ship2Harkinian PC Port?

I recently finished ocarina of time pc port with multiplayer, and seen that the 2ship2harkinian majora’s mask pc port has been out for a little bit. I was wondering if the same thing is available for the majora’s mask pc port, or if it’s coming anytime in the future?

[EoW][Hyrule Castle] Echoes of Wisdom came out at the perfect time.

For the record, I don't know how far along in the game am I. I just defeated >!Ganon!<so I'm assuming I'm halfway through the game, a sentence I never thought I'd type in my life.

Considering how a point of discussion within Zelda fans is the franchise's identity, with many saying BOTW/TOTK strayed off too far from the formula and disliking it, with others liking how the franchise is evolving, it was indeed controversial to make the next game be one starring someone other than Link. I wasn't opposed to it because I initially thought this game would be handled as a spin-off, but even if it was a main title, I welcomed it.

Now that I am finally playing it, I have to say that this game is so clever in so many ways.

First of all, the prologue being with a playable Link was expected, but I love how he is at his full power, just like in TOTK.

Now, I initially assumed we would only be using the echoes as our weapon system, and that at most we would be getting some sort of Link Echo to yeet at monsters and bosses. So when that Link boss showed up, I thought "of course"... only for the upgrade to instead be Zelda 'becoming' Link.

And it was such a welcome, really clever surprise, because that way the game ensures we can still play as Link throughout, if we wish to. And then came the Hyrule Castle bit, with a >!final boss-tier Ganon!<as the boss and it was so unexpected, but then again, such a good way to subvert veterans' expectations. And so fun to face using all sorts of monsters against it to turn the tables on him for once.

I'll admit I had the stupidest smile on my face when the main quest became "Rescue the Hero Link" instead of the usual "Save Zelda".

This game is being such a good way of acknowledging and pleasing the fans who've been with this franchise for decades, I am having so much fun going through it. The gameplay feels fresh at every moment with every new echo the story has us unlock and you see how they pushed the Link's Awakening HD engine to the limits the same way TOTK did with the BOTW engine.

Like I said above, at a time where the Zelda franchise seems to be debating and redefining its identity, this game, not having the usual protagonist and sword-and-shield combat for once, really came out at the perfect time. And speaking of shield, it made me appreciate just how important the shield is in these games, because Zelda is so vulnerable in combat.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the game brings me, but I am sure it won't disappoint.
