Exciting Game guide finds

Genuinely didn't know how badly I wanted both of these guides until I saw them. Someone like me struggles with most RPGs or Adventure RPGs without one. Spotted the Windwaker guide at a game shop while being a tourist in Brooklyn. Priced me at $15 (super happy about it). Got home no more than a week later shopping for games a good drive away from me at Video Game Trader and saw the Gun guide !

White-on-White Controller Design: Sleek or Snooze?

Hey, fellow ga(y)mers!I recently got my hands on a new controller, and I couldn't help but notice its unique design - it's white-on-white. While I appreciate a minimalist aesthetic, I'm torn on whether this look is sleek and stylish or just a bit bland. What are your thoughts on controllers with a white-on-white color scheme? Do you think it's a bold design choice that adds to the overall aesthetic, or does it fall flat and lack the excitement of more vibrant designs? Share your opinions and let's discuss!

Resident Evil Code Veronica X opening cutscene problem

Iv got a GameCube with pico, Swiss. 100 games on an sd card.

I loaded up Resident Evil Code Veronica X and the opening cutscene keeps skipping.

Both the video and audio keep skipping violently and the sound from the skipping is horrible. When it went into gameplay, it seemed fine.

I’m guessing the other cutscenes have similar problems.

Is this a common problem with this game when booted up from an SD card?

Any fixes?

Also using retro bit prism connection if that makes any difference.

Japanese GameCube displaying black and white image on CRT (PAL)

I know this question has been asked many times (from my extensive Googling) but I wonder if anyone has any nuggets of information I could use.

I have a Japanese GameCube that was bought as junk many years ago. It has sat as a decoration until now when I decided to see what the problems were and if I could fix them. It powered on, read discs and was generally fine, except the picture is black and white on my Sony CRT TV. I am in the PAL region.

I have tried 4 different cables, official Japanese cables, official PAL cables, unofficial PAL cables and unofficial S-Video cables. On my CRT, none will display in colour. On my (old) Sony LCD TV, it was black and white unless the SCART is nudged at a weird angle, and is not consistent. I have tried a USB capture card, and everything (except S-Video, which DOES display in colour) doesn't show an image at all. I have also tried a NTSC-PAL image converter which is usually a last resort for me and usually does work with a lower grade image, but that doesn't work either. Other Japanese consoles work just fine on this TV in colour.

Does anyone know what the issue could be? Display? Is my GameCube actually junk after all?

I picked up a GameCube recently and put a disk in it and this is happening.. any idea what’s making it switch like this?

The GameCube booted up fine and all the menus worked, don’t know what’s up with it. Could it be the laser, it not spinning right, or the close lid trigger?

Datel official codes freeze games running from Swiss

Hi all, as title says, running games from Swiss latest version, some codes work, some codes make the game freeze, and I know the codes are valid because they work with the physical games using the action replay hardware, both the older disc with the slot-B device and the newer disc that works on Wii

Is there a converter that fixes this? Currently I only use GCNcrypt

I'm playing on a DOL-001 with picoboot, the freezes happen both when using SD2SP2 and GC2SD slot-B adapter

All Disney/Pixar Player’s Choice GameCube Games

List: Finding Nemo (2003) The Incredibles (2004) Cars (2006)

Facts: The reason for the “T for Teen” Rating for The Incredibles is due to the movies more mature tone. The “E for Everyone 10+” was not made yet.

Finding Nemo is poorly optimized on GameCube as it has an inconsistent framerate, more dull and bland colors, and in original black label release, the load times would range from 20 seconds to a whole minute.

The GameCube version of The Incredibles runs at 30 fps, while on PlayStation 2 and Original Xbox it runs at 60.

3 other Pixar Games (Not including Crossovers) released on GameCube, Monsters Inc. Scream Arena, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer, and Ratatouille, with the latter being the second to last game released for GameCube.

In my opinion, the Game adaptation of Cars is better than the movie it’s based on.

Which game is your favorite?

Looking for a game I can't, remember the title

Hello,

There was a game my brother borrowed from a friend back in 2006, 2007 or 2008. The game was a fighting game like street fighter or virtua fighter. The difference was is you could create your fighter and fully customize their attire.

Does anyone know what this game may be?

Can Retrobrighting on spice orange GameCube bring the orange back?

Got my husband a birthday surprise we have a parts Gamecube but the shell is cracked and broken on it but the guts are still good and he’s always wanted a spice orange, so I went on eBay and found a shell from Japan for pretty cheap but the color is a bit dulled from sun, and was wondering if anyone has experience with retroBrighting and would it bring the orange back to that bright fluorescent Color? I just want to prepare for when it gets here, so if I need to put it under the UV for a few hours to bring the color back, I can do that for him and surprise him. I’ve only done Retro Brighting on yellowed white and grey pieces and couldn’t find a lot of information on colored pieces.

Why are these boxed japanese mario party 4 games way cheaper than the english disc version?

I have seen these for very low prices and would think they would be worth more due to being boxed. can someone tell me why these are so cheap compared to the disc cased ones?

Could 20xx te memory card work with virtual memory card on Swiss?

Just did the picoboot mod and I've found that my 20xx te save file freezes on load. Is anyone aware of a different method to get 20xx te on swiss? I have the 20xx iso loaded up but I'm not a fan of the ui changes to the css so I'd like the more "vanilla" looking version that still has UCF.

What are my options here?

GameCube resolution, picture quality, sound quality.

I have a modded GameCube with pico, Swiss. 100 games on an sd card.

I bought the retro bit prism hd adapter. It looks great on my Sony 55 inch 4K. Everything outputs at 480p. F Zero GX looks amazing in full motion considering it’s age.

Just wondering if a retroTINK5x or a mclassic either together replacing my retro bit prism or combined would look better for me overall? Or would the differences be negligible? I do plan on getting a modded ps2 soon also, for Half Life and a few other games.

The retro but prism was cheaper and easier to get than a carby so I bought that. After everything I looked up online, there seems to be no real difference between the carby and retro bit in terms of picture quality, unless I’m wrong.

Also, I have a good sony soundbar with subwoofer. Am I missing out on better sound or is it all fine the way it is? As I said, I have my GameCube connected through the retro bit on a hdmi. Is there a way of me getting better sound?

Thanks

Sound glitch happens when the red audio cable is plugged, only for certain games, help!

So I decided I wanted to play Metroid Prime 2 on Gamecube. The Gamecube logo starting screen plays fine, sound is fine. But as soon as the game boots, there is that weird sound glitch, a continuous and unbearable crackling sound that happens. When I unplug the red audio cable, the sound is fine and plays perfectly in mono only from one TV speaker. I tried different cables and different inputs, same result.

I then tested a few different games : Prime 1, 2 and Skies of Arcadia all have that weird sound glitch, always with the red audio cable only being problematic. Zelda WW and TP both works fine with both red and white audio cables plugged in, no problem at all.

My question is : are the games or the console at fault here? Games are in good condition, no major scratches or scuffs that I can see. Why is only one of the 2 audio input faulty? I don’t have a second Gamecube to do more testing.

Technically I can still play the game, only in mono with the white cable plugged in and not the red. But I’d really like to find out what the actual problem is. It’s really bugging me that some games works fine and others glitches. Anything else I can test myself before bringing the console to a repair tech? Anyone had experience with something like this? I can send a short video of the problem in private if needed. Thanks!

Joined the club a week ago

I have been a long time PS2 collector, and a week ago I decided to star the GameCube one. This is what I got so far and Eternal Darkness, all Zeldas and Metroid 2 are on their way.

The ones on the left I got for $20 which was a great deal.

Memory slot A issue

I bought a gamecube a while back and it started having issues with memory slot A. despite having a third party memory card in, it won't recognize it.

A red light comes on on the card when I turn it on, so does this indicate that the issue is with the card or the system itself?

What do I start with?

Some recent pickups ($110 Canadian for BOTH Pikmins CIB) and $120 for TP.

I haven't played any of these games and I've done by best to watch zero gameplay. Of course I've heard lots about Zelda. I have Windwaker but have been waiting to play TP first.

I'm told Pikmin can be a challenging game which I do enjoy a challenge.

Where should I start?

Need help with region mod

So I just bought a spice orange gamecube. Previous owner ripped a pad off on r6 so can’t change region that way. I plan on doing the Picoboot mod to it so would it even be worth me trying to find alternative solder points or should I install the pico and call it a day?

Picoboot Hard Reset Issue

DOL-001 GC with picoboot. Soft resetting from a game returns me to Swiss, but if I power cycle the console I have to wait a couple minutes before I can get back into Swiss or stock BIOS.

I thought it might be thermal issues, but I've never seen Swiss report temps higher than 30°C. And when I boot into Swiss cold and immediately power cycle the console the issue is the same.

Other than that everything appears to work as intended.
