When it comes to fully completing Pikmin 4, I wanted to analyze what could count towards that, and what could not.
The simple answer might be "do everything", but that depends on what "everything" means. Because if we truly count everything, then we might also have to count crazy stuff such as breaking every nectar egg in the game and speaking to every NPC to get rid of their speech bubbles on the map screen.
So I thought it would make things easier for me to analyze each item separately to see if they would be worthy criteria or not.
Olimar's Shipwreck Tale
When you complete Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, this will affect the ending in a fairly significant way. Instead of Olimar being transported back to his planet with the rescue crew, it will show him flying back in the Dolphin. I would say that this is significant enough to be worthy for full completion.
Olimar's Shipwreck Tale is required for 100% completion.
Trial of the Sage Leaf
I was originally mixed on this one because the only thing it did was make the Onion colors different in the ending, but I do think that that's probably a significant alteration to make this a necessary. On top of the fact that this is literally an in-game cave mode, so it would make sense to clear it and get the two Onions.
HOWEVER... I do not think it is necessary to Platinum any of these missions. In fact, the game doesn't even acknowledge that you did so in any way, and the ranking medals might as well not even exist here. So if you just complete the ten missions (even if they're all bronze), that is definitely good enough to count.
Trial of the Sage Leaf is required for 100% completion in terms of merely completing it, but not getting Platinums within it.
Dandori Challenges/Battles
The game does acknowledge if you rescued and cured all the Leaflings or not, so it would make sense for all the Dandori Battles and Challenges to be a requirement for 100%.
With that said, there's the issue of if getting Platinum on them all is required or not. But I will address that in more depth in the next point, but for now, I'll say that it's not necessary to Platinum any of them. In fact, I would say that using Dingo on all of them would still count toward full completion.
Dandori Challenges and Battles are required for 100% in terms of merely completing them, but not getting Platinums within it.
Missions
This is why I said that it's not necessary to get all Platinums in the Dandori stuff. It's because the game doesn't really give you anything for completing all the missions (or even acknowledge you). In fact, there's even two missions that are infinite and so you really can't complete all the missions anyway.
This is one of those cases where, if we count completing this toward 100%, then we'd have to count other more obscure stuff as well just because it's technically there and could be completed. For example, enemies do not respawn in the overworld areas, so if you ended the game without destroying all of them, would that technically still be "incomplete"? If not, then I believe that same logic could be applied here as well.
The missions really are only there as a means to get Raw Materials, and maybe some upgrades. But I would not say they're required for 100% completion, which is especially great because Extra Hand is a chore and is not worth obtaining on replays in my opinion.
Missions are NOT required for 100% completion.
Nighttime Missions
Same scenario as the Dandori Battles and Challenges. They're the means to cure all the Leaflings and so are required. But they can be Dingo'd.
Nighttime Missions are required for 100% completion.
Collecting All the Treasure
This one I'm somewhat mixed on. It would make sense that getting all the treasure should count toward 100% (as it usually does in previous Pikmin games). But treasures work different in this game, and in the grand scheme of things getting all the treasure merely amounts to a completed mission (which I've declared weren't necessary).
On the other hand, it does play that jingle and say "All Areas Investigated" and even does acknowledge your progress with a flower symbol and 100% completion. This doesn't really influence anything in the actual ending though. This one is debatable. I'll be honest, I don't really know. I personally would say it isn't if we're going by getting the best ending.
Collecting all the treasure is debatable if it's required for 100% completion.
RECAP
What is required for 100% completion in Pikmin 4:
I need it for a discussion I'm having
It's that time of year again, the BTF is taking donations at the local Lutheran/Catholic Presbyterian Church from November 22th to December 31st.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who felt parallels between these two games. There were some burns this one though!
Basically, this is an idea for a title I had, called Pikmin: The New Planet, where creatures would be more ruthless, and I mixed the enemies up a bit, to make things more interesting. Ask any questions about how any of them work, if you want.
Data File President: He would be selling life insurance at the prize counter. Paying for it gives you an extra live. However you would need to repay him 10000 pokos throughout the night. If you don't pay it by the end of the night. You would lose the extra live (if you have lost it. You'll die)
It’s actually a self portrait but go off
its a dandori battle on here we make images of whats happning in battle
Dark pikmkn (pikmin who's color is darker) should look more terrifying then their normal counterparts, and live undergrounf plus have the reversed ability. The reason why is simple, the deep sea and the reversed powers is due to them not being able to live on the surface at day, meaning that it can't get enough light to support
