Hi there! I posted this Romhack yesterday, but had to make some alterations due to some errors on my part - as such, this is my take 2 :)
I have been working on putting together a romhack of Explorers of Sky for my own use, called Explorers of Sky: Hisui Edition. It ended up growing enough that I wanted to share if anyone was interested! This hack aims to add a number of Hisuian Pokémon to the game in an organic manner - I've linked the files in the post, so feel free to download if you want to give it a try!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mu8NR5l4im49ySZJVSeuemMwCKCoMWee/view?usp=drive_link
To begin, the Starter and Partner lists have been modified to include a number of Hisuian Pokémon, which are all noted in the included text file. All of the "First Partner" Pokemon are still selectable; only Shinx, Vulpix, Skitty and Phanphy have been swapped out, in exchange for Zorua, Growlithe (Hisui), Sneasel (Hisui) and Teddiursa being playable.
Pokémon added to the rom in general are almost exclusively evolutions or relations of Pokémon already in the game (e.g. Hisuian Growlithe or Wyrdeer) - the exceptions being the Zorua line and the Basculin line. This is due to the number of available Pokemon not being expanded upon, and the aim of not removing as many of the default Pokemon as possible (with the two exceptions being Unown ! and Unown ?). All of the added Pokemon have their level-up, TM, and Egg movelists taken directly from SV (albeit excluding post-gen 4 moves), and I attempted to make their evolutionary methods at least representative of what they are in Legends Arceus (as most are a bit too complex for Sky to handle!); so hopefully the added Pokemon are as accurate as can be!
Overall, the goal is to keep the rom as vanilla as possible; as such, it does not incorporate the Fairy type, does not add any moves or abilities that are from post-gen 4, does not expand beyond the default 599 available Pokémon spots, does not alter the story or any of the general progression unlocks, and only changes one NPC within the game (Ursaring to Ursaluna). I want this to be basically the original EoS experience, just with a Hisui flavor!
To try and keep things somewhat lore-friendly, as I imagine these Pokémon would be quite rare in the Explorers universe, Hisuian Pokémon can primarily be found in two locations; the Future, and the Wonder Mail Dungeons (Bottomless Sea, Shimmer Desert, Mt. Avalanche, Giant Volcano, World Abyss, Sky Stairway, and Mystery Jungle). I won't specify their exact locations, but I like to think they're suitable for each Pokémon! The major exception to this is the evolutionary Pokémon (such as Kleavor), whose Evolution methods are noted in the included text document.
All sprites and portraits were sourced from the PMD Sprite Repository (except for Wyrdeer, which was from Discord), with all credit to the following artists:

Lastly, as a general quality of life update, all of the regular Starter and Partner Pokémon have portraits for all evolutions, as well as fully added sleep animations!
Included in the download is the game files, as well as a text file further overviewing the changes made and quick instructions on how to install the patch file (although the SkyTemple wiki is much more informative than me on how to patch!).
Please let me know if you encounter any bugs or glitches, and enjoy!
Why is sky tower so hard? Im using mudkip with squad up (no luck with changing it yet, not enough gummies) running tackle, rock throw, mud slap, and blizzard (no luck with good TMs), torchic with food finder, running Peck, low kick, flame burst, and quick attack, and absol with squeeze out, running swords dance, brutal swing, quick attack, and slash, all mid 30s for level, and I can't seem to make it past floor 13-15 reliably
Edit: got enough gummies (and luck) to get mudkip changed to pp pouch
Let's say you were an experienced pokemon in the mystery dungeon world like old Wiscash from rescue team or watchhog from super, how would your wisdom of the pokemon world be? , share your wise words!
Are there any items that can be crafted instead of found in a dungeon? What materials do you need and what is the process to make them?

Hi! Some days ago I made a post talking on how I felt Shiren 5’s mechanics were too complex for me and now I want to give you all a quick update.
Some of you recommended me to start with Shiren 1, 2 or 6 and only after checking some of the simpler titles should I come back more prepared.
I considered this, but some of you suggested exploring Shiren 5’s advanced mechanics to my favor (keep in mind that I had posted this in both r/MysteryDungeon and r/ShirenTheWanderer), such as runes and “New Items”.
With this new info, I decided to give it a last try and see what I could do. And to my surprise, I quickly became much stronger! The main changes I did were:
My party ended up going overboard, with Shiren wielding a +26 weapon with 6 runes and a +17 shield with 8 runes, and Jirokichi being at level 56.
I decided to give a try with the last part of the main game dungeon, so I came prepared with lots of Undo Grass, Revival Grass and Scrolls. With this, I was able to beat the game at first try!
Now, with my 27h save file, I say goodbye to Shiren 5. I know many of you guys like to go deep into the game and explore all the extra dungeons, but I’m much more casual in this aspect and will be satisfied with the main campaign.
Overall, I still think Torneko (SNES) is harder, since it doesn’t have a Undo Grass and we can’t go overboard with weapon and shield improvement.
---
My next step is to get to know better the other games in the series. I decided to save Shiren 6 for last and start playing all the other games from most recent to oldest, so:
5 (beaten) -> 4 -> 3 -> DS2 -> 2 -> 1 (DS) -> 6
(I know some of you don’t recommend Shiren 3, but I’ll try it anyways)
---
A big thanks to everyone who answered me, both by recommending other Shiren titles and by giving me advice with 5!
I'm replaying Pokémon red rescue team and I'm having trouble learning discharge. I want to learn it on my Raichu which I evolved from a Pikachu at level 45, but it never learnt discharged. I looked through the move remember function but only found: Tail Whip, Thundershock, Growl, Thunder Wave, Double team and Slam. Is my game bugged ? Do I just have no luck ?
Hey, I'm replaying mystery dungeon dx at the moment and I chose Pikachu as my starter and Eevee as my partner. Any tips on how to make Eevee feel more useful / stronger until it can evolve? Her moves right now are Bite, quick attack, swift and shadow ball.
I’ve entered the post game and want Ursaring as a main staple on my team. In regards to his ability, is Quick Feet or Guts better? Along with that, what is his best move set?
To start with, the name "explorers of sky" conveys the plot of the game very poorly. It refers to a brief add-on arc instead of the themes of the overall game, which "explorers of time" and "explorers of darkness" does succinctly. This is because sky is meant to serve as a sort of expansion pack to the original game, but with it being forced to have the base game attached to it due to the technological limitations of the ds at the time.
Sky also adds the Spinda Cafe, which can make the game very unchallenging for a first playthrough with the gummy system.
Sky does add a lot of post game content, such as several dungeons, and the Shaymin arc. However, the reason why anybody plays these games is because of the plot, and the Shaymin arc is kind of mid honestly.
What it does add in terms of plot, and the main reason why most people recommend sky, are the special episodes, especially special episode 5. Anybody who plays this game should experience special episode 5. However, we live in 2024, and special episode 5 is entirely on YouTube. Because you're playing as different characters from the main self insert character, the plot experience is basically the same if you were to just watch it off YouTube after you play the game.
The main reason, though, why people should play Time and Darkness first instead of Sky, is because of Sky's intro cutscene. Sky's intro cutscene is great if you've already played the game, and puts you in an adventurous, whimsical spirit while re-experiencing the best parts of the game. However, and I don't know why more people talk about this, but it spoils the game! It shows >!grovyle and dusknoir fighting together!< and >!you, your partner and grovyle entering the hidden land on lapras!<. Like basically just spoils the big twist of the game right when you boot it up. The other thing is that while the tone of sky's intro cutscene sets a good mood for the game, nothing really encapsulates the feeling of the game better than time and darkness's introduction. Not only does it not spoil the game, but the cutscenes are vague enough to say what the game is about without giving the plot away, with the music giving off this beautiful, mysterious aura that encapsulates the overall tone of the game way better than sky's intro does. You are supposed to experience the story while booting up to this introduction every time.
I've seen many people discuss the explorers games as "oh sky is the only one that you need to play the other's are worthless compared to it" and while sky is what you should play if you've already played it, if you ever want to show the game to anybody, you should have them play Time and Darkness. That's what I'm doing now with my girlfriend.
Really cool romhack that I just started playing. I was surprised when it gave me a Ledyba as the starting pokemon, but I love it! Also Finneon as a partner? Why wouldn't I lol? And Goomi from Drenched Bluff. Don't mind Geodude. He just a client
I'm hoping to play the pokemon romhack Grovyle's story the only problem is that I can only find an older version of the game.I can't find an updated version of it. I can only find from v1.0.3 and another sites links are no longer available. If anybody knows where you can get the game from, that would be great if you could share it.
My college friend was selling their old plushies and I'm like "I will absolutely take Grovyle" - and I coincidentally had a time gear pin. Here he is!
I got a new watch and wasn't satisfied with the available faces so I made my own, took big inspiration from the animation made by @TheYisusOne on twitter (the luminescent platinum dev)
I'm looking for something that fits the psychological and tender relationship between Hero and Partner. For example, one side feels guilty and thinks about it, but the other side consoles them.
Does something like this exist?
Idunno i thought it was his girlfriend?
