We haven't had a new Zelda character since Brawl, and Toon Link was an alternate form of Link serving as a replacement for another Link form in Melee. We haven't had a fully original Zelda character since Melee.
Will it ever happen again? The problem is that Link, Zelda and Ganondorf are the only characters who consistently appear in the series, as almost every installment takes place in a different time and/or place. Even Link and Zelda are often different people in each game.
Will there ever be another? It's one of the biggest francises out there and deserves more characters, especially considering how oversatuarated with Fire Emblem characters Smash has become.
The way I see it, Vaati is probably the best contender. He's the only villain besides Ganon who's been in multiple games, but Smash for some reason seems to slightly favor console characters over handheld ones.
Masks Link used to be suggested, as a transformation of Deku, Goron, and Zora Link from MM. I've also seen Skull Kid suggested. Both of these are unlikely as MM is over 20 years old at this point.
Impa is a possibilty but unlikely as she doesn't have much moveset potential beyond her non canonical Hyrule Warriors moveset.
Tetra has appeared in several games but suffers from the same problem as Impa.
They could alao make Ganon a playable character and shrink him, then find a new Final Smash for Ganondorf, perhaps the giant blob of black light from OoT. (Or maybe not: ZSS transforms into Samus during her Ultimate Final Smash and Chrom is a part of Robin's even though he become playable.)
What do you think? I would love to see Masks Link out of these.
My gamecube controller no longer works on my Switch although it works on my Wii u.
A big point of contention I see from the casual crowd in favour of allowing casual mechanics, specifically Final Smash, into competitive tournaments is the hype factor. "You get to see a crazy animation play out! That's so much cooler than the boring slopfest on the same 7 stages!" The usual response is the campy gameplay incentivized by Final Smashes, which develops into a whole thing about "The better player adapting to a changing environment" and what not.
Can we be, like, real for a second?
Nothing is hype about a nigh-unreactable option, that most of the time is an instakill, that the opponent literally can't do anything about other than play as lame as possible and hope the user of the Final Smash whiffs. The novelty of witnessing a Final Smash wears off real quick after the first, like, 5 games.
Think of the most iconic moments in FGCs, which do have their own version of "Final Smashes" tournament legal. When thinking of iconic clips from their competitive history, do you think of the moment where the player pressed L1+R1 in neutral? Of course you don't. Heck, even in the clips that do involve a Level 3/5, the stream instantly cuts to the player's popoff, because that's infinitely more exciting than the same flashy animation playing out for the thousandth time.
Point is, Final Smashes in competitive play don't even succeed in the one aspect it's supposed to succeed in, and I'm tired of people pretending it does.

I have been recently playing lots of smash 3ds and to train I usually train with Bors on smash mode. Since I'm a smash beginner I wanted to know what level CPU is pro level and what is beginner. Right now I can beat a level 8 bot.
Whenever I play level 8, I always get the ai down 1 or 2 lives (3 stock) and after that point they just start demolishing me, like there's no competition. I've also noticed level 8+ ai hit moves that most people in that skill range couldn't. For example, I was fighting a level 8 ai who was playing pit, (I'm playing as toon link), I shoot an arrow right after they attack, shield the second the arrow hits, unshield right after, and hit me instantly. Is this just a skill issue on my part or is there something else?
My kids (14, 12, 10, and 10) are starting to enjoy Smash, as am I.
But... I kind of fell down the rabbit hole of adventure mode this month, and as their parent, I can play late in the evenings whereas they can't. That means I've advanced pretty far in terms of my gameplay (relative to them). They WANT to play with me, but are getting a little annoyed at getting beat. I also don't know the most fun way to set up something that's competitive and maybe, I dunno, handicap myself? I have pulled my punches often, but it's not always enough.
So - if you were in my situation and wanted to have a fun Saturday morning playing Smash with the kids - what mode would you play? How would you set up scenarios that were fun for all?

This was inspired from a thread I saw where somebody said Sparg0's playstyle reminded them of Mew2King and PPMD.
Are there any Smasher's playstyle that reminds you of another Smasher's playstyle in a different game?
I was so pumped to blast the Brawl theme song on my hifi speakers and had to settle for Mii channel (sounded great). I know they're adding stuff piecemeal the way they do, but I wish smash had some songs from the jump. Gimme melee target theme or something, bb!
