Hello r/apple,
TLDR: I released a big update to my app, iCite, a native citation Safari extension with ideas from the people on the macapps subreddit. I am giving away 10 free copies through my discord, (first come first serve and one per user).
History of the app: I am the developer of a couple small apps, and I wanted to share my favorite app I have been working on with you. With the spring semester of college underway, I wanted to release my biggest update yet to my app iCite. I have posted twice about it on the macapps subreddit. Once to get feature ideas and to help me gauge the popularity of the idea, and once more when I released version 1.0.0 about a month ago. Today, 2/2/25 is the one year anniversary since I started working on this idea in the middle of my high school class but now after spending winter break on active development. I have finally created a complete website citation tool native to macOS.
Why did I create iCite?: Now that you know the history of the app, I want to go a bit into why iCite was created. iCite was my response to finding out tools like Citation Machine charge per month instead of a one time payment fee and if you do not pay, the ads make it hard to use. iCite was created from the ground up with its own citation algorithms to find information and create citations from the website you are listing. This means that each update brings bug fixes and improvements to the citing as well as community requested features. While I think iCite's price is a little steep, it is half the price of one month of citation machine and I only do free updates, and the more feedback I get, the more changes I can put out to improve the citation algorithm and creation code.
Reddit's impact: I have been posting on subreddits to try not only to get the word out about my apps but also to get feature ideas, the ideas I have gotten so far have all been implemented into V1.1.0. Ideas like history, BibTeX, BibLaTeX, and helpful bug fixes have been given to me though Reddit so if you don't have a use for this app but have a cool idea please comment it and let me know about your idea! So far I have heard of people using it in the science field and creating custom formats like CSE, but I love to hear feedback and new ideas that I can add to iCite to make it the best citation tool for students.
App features (V1.1.0):
Giveaway: As like all of my reddit posts, they come with a giveaway because I feel it is kind of scummy to post about something you made with the sole purpose of making money, so anyways, I am giving away 10 copies. To get a copy all you have to do is join my discord server (found on my website below) and just send any message like "iCite" or "iCite giveaway" in the giveaway channel (the channel only appears while the giveaway is still open). Then I will DM you back with confirmation that you are in one of the 90 countries iCite is available in and then once you confirm you will receive a free code redeemable for iCite!
Note: iCite is available in 90 countries / territories. Most places excluding the EU due to EU law with the requirements for posting phone number and address, and a few countries in the Middle East.

Hey r/apple!
Two years ago, my camera roll was absolutely drowning in pet photos (I'm sure you can relate), and I couldn't find a decent place to share them that wasn't just another generic social media platform. So I did what any reasonable person would do - spent way too much time building an app specifically for us pet parents.
The result was Petme, a one-stop app for pet lovers. It started as a passion project, but over the past two years, I’ve been working non-stop, fixing bugs, brainstorming with users, and improving it to create something actually useful.
Petme isn’t just another social app. It’s built for pet owners and their pets, not just as a place to share cute pics (though, obviously, that’s a big part). It’s a community—where pet people connect, find products and services, and even help homeless animals find homes.
We just launched a major update, and to celebrate, I’m giving away a full year of Premium for free this weekend.
🐾 What’s Petme?
It’s a dedicated space where pet owners can connect, share, and find everything they need for their pet—all in one app.
Some key features:
✔ Integrated profiles – Your pet gets a profile, you get one too, and they’re automatically linked together. If your dog is more famous than you, well… that’s between you and them.
✔ Petme Talks – Ever had a full-blown convo with your pet? (I know I do even single day..) Now you can share those actual conversations with fellow pet people both in and outside the app.
✔ Co-parenting features – Got a pet with your partner, roommates, or family? Add them as co-parents or pet relatives and share the love like in real life.
✔ Find pet products and services – From sitters and groomers to pet-friendly spots near you. We just launched the business profiles, so they're still work in progress (pet sitter profiles with built-in booking coming soon).
✔ Adopt, don’t shop – Find pets who need homes with our special adoption feature (or help a pet find a home).
✔ Music therapy for pets – Yup, it’s a thing. Helps with anxiety, hyperactivity, sleeping problems, loneliness…and my cat actually seems to dig it. This is available only in the premium version.
Premium for personal accounts unlocks:
✔ Verified badges for you & all your pets
✔ Enhanced profile features
✔ Music therapy for pets
✔ Priority support for impersonation protection
✔ No ads
✔ More features coming soon
And to celebrate, we’re giving away a free year of Premium to anyone who signs up this weekend.
How to claim it:
If you check it out, let me know what you think. What's good, what sucks, what's missing—I'm here for it. Been in this community long enough to know you'll keep it real.
I created this app to combat the loneliness and mental health epidemic. My research shows that many people who feel lonely are surrounded by others yet struggle to have conversations about the things that truly matter. We understand that initiating those big, meaningful conversations can be challenging. Our goal is to make real talk the norm—fostering healthier, happier relationships and minds.
So, Imagine a question card game—now on your phone—that flips awkward moments into fun yet deep talks. Recognizing that not everyone is ready to dive deep right away, there are three categories of questions:
- Loosen Up: lighter, fun questions to break the ice
- Open Up: deeper questions for meaningful conversations
- Level Up: prompts for self-reflection and personal growth
By having the app present the questions, we take the awkwardness out of starting those deep conversations.
It’s all about making real talk effortless and fun. Let me know what you think! I’m looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks for taking look!
Only available in the US/UK/EUROPE for now. If you are from a different region and would like to use this app please drop the country below (if you're comfortable) It would be great to see where the demand is that we are not meeting.
I aim to open it up to more countries soon!

Currently, when you tap on a contact or number accidentally, the call starts immediately, and you have to be quick to hit the red “End Call” butt
Wouldn’t it be nice if iOS had a “Call Delay” feature? For example: Maybe A quick popup could ask, “Do you want to call “so and so?” before the call actually starts. Alternatively, there could be a short (customizable) delay, like 2–5 seconds, where you could cancel the call before it connects.
This kind of feature would prevent missed dials, especially when scrolling through contacts or trying to tap a nearby option. It feels like a practical addition, especially with how often accidental calls can happen.
What do you all think? Is this something Apple should consider adding in future iOS updates? Has anyone found a workaround or solution in the meantime?
