Unofficial Twitter app for the Vision Pro

Hey everyone! Just coming here to share this app I made since it could help someone. It's an unofficial Twitter/X client for the Apple Vision Pro that's based off of the website but looks native. It's called Dusk for Twitter. Just take a look for yourself!

It has a native tab bar and allows you to customize things such as tab bar items, text size and header behavior (sticky or non-sticky). To celebrate Vision Pro' s international launch, Dusk has also been localized to many different languages. 🇨🇳, 🇯🇵, 🇮🇹, 🇸🇬, 🇦🇺, 🇨🇦, 🇫🇷, 🇩🇪, 🇬🇧.

You'll also be able to choose from custom app icons once Apple enables it in visionOS (the icons are included in the app but Apple doesn't allow for custom app icons on the Vision Pro yet).

The design can be a bit funky in some specific areas but for timeline scrolling it's miles ahead of the X app from iPad aesthetically. Also, the app is constantly being updated for layout improvements I'm offering it at a discounted price of $3.99, but if you think that's a bit salty just follow the app's Twitter profile and stay tuned for giveaways!

It's available on the App Store!

Thanks everyone and have a great Sunday!

Learned coding in Swift by building an AI social media assistant

A year ago, inspired by the boom of AI, I decided to learn Swift and build an app. It took waaay longer than I planned, but today, I'm excited to share the result: Social AIde!

What is it? An AI-powered assistant that helps you craft replies to social media posts. Here's how it works:

  1. Find a post you want to reply to (maybe this particular one)
  2. Use the share sheet of your phone to send it to Social AIde
  3. Get 5 AI-generated response ideas instantly

You can customize the tone, or add some specific instructions. And it works across major platforms, and even blogs, or news articles.

As this is my first app I published in the App Store, I'd love your feedback:

  • How's the design?
  • Do the AI responses sound natural? Do you love/hate the concept?
  • What features would you like to see?

Social AIde is on the App Store now. Can't wait to hear (read) what you think!

#blockit: Block feeds, stories, reels, related videos, comments, and more in Safari

Hey! I'm an indie dev who makes #blockit.

I'm super excited to share this with my favourite subreddit, r/apple!

I made this app years ago to solve my own problem: How can I access university Facebook groups without getting distracted by the rest of Facebook?

And I had similar problems on YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, and so on.

I hacked together a solution, but it was difficult to maintain and sync between my iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

So I built #blockit! It lets you easily block distracting elements of popular websites on all your Apple devices, with full iCloud sync, no accounts, and 100% privacy.

Oh and it also lets you block any site you want. I block macrumors.com cause I'm too obsessed with Apple lol.

Added predicted weather radar for 7 days in advance to my app, Weather on the Way, along with cycling and hiking modes. Thanks to reddit support, it reached #3 in weather charts.

Hi everyone!

I have posted about Weather on the Way few times before. It's been a project I have been working on for 4 years now and thanks to Redditors support, which started even before the launch thanks to gracious beta testers, it reached #3 weather app charts in the US during Christmas.

In short, it's a travel weather app that takes into account your speed and route to predict the weather you will encounter on the road to your destination. You can play your route, adjust your time of departure and make sure you stay safe on the road.

Recently, I have added a new feature to the app that took me last 4 months to develop. Everyone knows weather radar – it's how we can observe live precipitation and see where it's raining or snowing. Many apps display a radar loop by showing frames from historical radar to get a better feeling on how the storm moves.

However, what people really care about and want to know is how the storm will behave in the future. I have used data provided by NOAA and applied a machine learning techniques to it to basically create a predicted weather radar view. And it's not for the next hour or two – my data has 48h of high resolution predictions in US and a week of standard resolution for the whole world.

Here is how it looks like:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ANxL8RcFOic

By swiping along the timeline, you can see how the weather patterns will behave and estimate the risk of encountering a summer storm on the road ahead. Of course, the further in the future, the more uncertainty the forecast will have, but it still gives you a good feeling for how the weather might behave.

Other then that, there are also two new additional summer features:

  • Hiking and bicycle routing so you can plan these activities with weather in mind
  • UV Index and daylight map mode to help avoid heatwaves.

One thing I would like to mention that unfortunately, because of the amount of expensive weather data needed, I cannot offer these features on the free tier. It's part of PRO, with monthly and yearly subscriptions ($4.99 and $24.99 respectively) and lifetime option for people who hate subscriptions.

But I also wanted to make sure that everyone can try the features and see for themselves if they are worth it, so there is a one week free trial on the yearly tier.

You can try the app for yourself here:

I would really appreciate your feedback and suggestions!

Why Apple Won't make a smart ring?

I think they forgot an important reason: the Apple Watch is already one of the best smartwatches and fitness trackers out there.

Apple Intelligence had better bring huge improvements to spell check, spelling correction, and suggestion.

As someone who spends a lot of time writing on every Apple device, I’ve run out of patience for the low quality spelling correction on macOS, iPadOS, and iOS. The slightest misspelling and Apple has no idea what word I am trying to write. Speed is important to me, and using the technology in front of me to speed up my writing is what I expect. Every time I have a mispelled word that Apple can‘t correct or offer any accurate suggestion for, I can copy and paste that misspelling into Google and get the correct spelling of the correct intended word. 100% of the time. To me, this is one of the most basic and useful examples of AI assisting a user, and Apple’s current offering is dreadful. There is hope with Apple Intelligence coming, but I’ve yet to see this example shown. If Apple Intelligence lands without serious improvement in this area, I will lose a lot of faith in what Apple is doing.
