Content which benefits the community (news, rumors, and discussions) is valued over content which benefits only the individual (technical questions, help buying/selling, rants, etc.). This fundamental difference in audience is why we support two communities, r/Apple and r/AppleHelp. If you'd like to view their content together, click here.

I’m not one of those haters who complains about everything Apple does. I use Siri regularly for basic stuff like timers, checking weather, playing my daily news podcast, calling contacts, etc. For basic tasks like that it has almost always worked quickly and accurately.
But when I updated to iOS 18.1 with the new Siri I immediately noticed that the exact same commands that always worked above now take MUCH longer to respond and often don’t respond at all or are less accurate. These are basic things like:
“Play the news” (much slower to actually get to playing the podcast)
“Call brother’s name“ (it called my mom instead, their names are nothing alike)
“Set alarm for 8am” (often thinks for a few seconds before setting alarm, used to be instant)
“AirPlay to my HomePod” (simply stopped working entirely with no timeout or error, just sits there spinning forever).
All of these are working just fine on devices with older versions of Siri. Is this because the new Siri uses a bigger ML model and thus is taking longer to process despite it being same commands? I’m on an iPhone 15 Pro, it really shouldn’t be slower than it has been on much older slower phones.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is Apple just hoping people don’t notice or forgive them because of the improved abilities (which I haven’t noticed or used yet).

Hey r/apple, I'm the maker of SolarWatch, an iOS app featured by Apple on the App Store and over 500k downloads.
SolarWatch gives you detailed info about the position of the sun and times for solar events like sunrise/sunset, golden hours and twilight times. Using Solar Alarms, you can sync your life with the rhythms of the sun. I recently added a new 3-D map mode with realistic shadows of buildings for any time of the day, any day of the year. There is also an AR mode to visualize the path of the sun over the course of the year in your real environment.
It's very useful for photographers to set up shoots and also outdoor activities which depend on the daylight.
SolarWatch is free to download and free to use but includes a purchase or a subscription for some features (weather forecasts, AR mode, customizable alarms and similar). I have a Black Friday promo running right now until Tuesday. You can get SolarWatch Gold for only $0.99/month instead of $2.99/month for 12 months. Here is the link to claim this offer: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=1191365122&code=BLACKSUN24
