Hi, in the past, when I hovered my cursor on something clickable, it would change from an arrow into a hand. But since a few days ago, it's always an arrow and never changes into a hand. Is it because of a system update? Or is it because I have too many tabs open and my MacBook doesn't have capacity to reflect that change anymore? Thank you for your answers.
Hey guys,
I have a Macbook M1.
I'm currently still on Sonoma 14.7.2, and everything works smoothly and perfect.
I'm wondering if I should upgrade to Sequoia 15.2 with all the AI stuff that's useless to me.
Also I've heard there has been issues with VPN since version 15 was released and I can't take the risk that it will fail on me.
Is there any worthwhile reason to upgrade?
Im a complete newbie about this stuff but Im looking to upgrade from my MacBookPro11,4 (bought in 2016) to a Macbook Air. On the surface it seems like the specs are very similar and it almost doesnt seem like it's worth the money to "upgrade". Am I looking at this all wrong?
I do light video editing for my YouTube channel on Riverside, iMovie, Canva, and Descript and only recently have I been seeing performance issues. My Mac also bogs down to a slog when Im trying to use a 4k webcam to record. Would love the groups thoughts on this and if I should bite the bullet and get a new Pro instead.
My macbook screen has this small little thing near the bottom bezel and i cant seem to get it off no matter what. Any idea what this could be?

Hi all. I'm looking to get a 14" macbook pro. I'm debating between two configurations.
Both are $1999 full price but Amazon has a sale on the M4 Pro right now. I'm torn about sacrificing storage to get the faster M4 Pro processor.
I'm not techy enough to know how to evaluate the options as a whole in terms of longevity and performance. I know RAM & SSD does memory swapping under load; so, the more storage to "lend" the better. But I also know the processor power plays a huge role in performance.
Any thoughts or technical explanations for going with one or the other would be greatly appreciated!
I have really bad OCD (diagnosed). 6 weeks ago I bought a brand new MacBook Air M3 16GB and put a hard case on it. Redditors advised me not to because it can ruin the hinges. I really look after my stuff so I removed it. A negligent family member decided to lay the table where I was working and accidentally smacked it with a plate. Because I removed the hard shell case it is already dented despite having only owned it for 6 weeks! Is there anything I can do about this or do I just have to live with it? I know it’s only small but I can’t help it!
Hello everyone!
I am a college student right now looking into purchasing a macbook air. I was eyeing a Macbook Air during their annual Back to School promotion, but my current computer was still okay then. I was eyeing a Macbook Air during Black Friday, but again I did not see the need because my current computer was okay.
So now that there are currently no promotions, of course my computer decides it is time to say goodbye lol. I have not been following the trends in prices, so I am unsure if now is a good time to buy or if I can wait a little. I see Costco/Bestbuy has a M2 (16 GB) or M3(8 GB) for $800. Apple currently has the M2 for $900 with education pricing. How does this current pricing compare to previous promotions? TIA
I want to run Time Machine to back up a MacBook Air 13” which is still working. Just not sure what kind of adaptor/connections I need to buy to fit into the MacBook port since the cable with my old backup drive is designed for much older Macs. Thanks for the help (Photo included) https://imgur.com/a/clqZamZ
It used to work but then I stopped using it for a few months and when I turned it on yesterday, it wouldn’t work. I’ve tried reseting the pram and smc which didn’t work. The caps lock key doesn’t even light up
Hi, I got brand-new MacBook air (M3, 256GB, 16GB RAM) around March 2024. For the first 6 months after my purchase, everything was working fine. But suddenly one week, the battery started draining really quickly, I don't know what went wrong considering the device is so new.
What could be the cause for the issue? All I do use a Chromium browser and VScode (once in a while, mostly not), which takes 2-3 GB of RAM. No complex operations.
My file system uses around 50%, and the OS is updated. CleanMyMac correctly identifies that the battery life is short. Right now, it's charged at 40%, but only 2:40 hours are left. Here is the coconutBattery statistic: (edited)
Huge apologies if this violates rule 7, but I can't find this specific answer. I've just done a battery replacement, is the little tab in the centre of the bottom cover supposed to "click" into the chassis of the device when refitting? It seemed to release upon removal.
Thanks in advance.
Hello everyone. I am just about letting my iold notebook retire and looking for a new one and thinking about having a macbook but it’s a bit confusing to me when choosing among the variants. What are core differences between Pro and Air models? I heard 16in model has better screen than that of 14in’s one, is it true? I like touchbar. My budget is somewhat about a used MBP M1 16/1Tb used. Which one should I choose? Many thanks
I recently purchased an M3 MacBook Air in September of 2023 and it’s been working great until this issue started happening.
Weirdly, this issue started to come up a few weeks after I travelled internationally. I take very good care of my laptop and I know for a fact it’s never come in contact with any liquids. However, I still decided to leave it unused for more than a day as a preventative measure to see if the notification leaves. Additionally, I gently blew air into the ports with the ‘cool air’ setting on my hairdryer as another measure. However, the notification does not leave.
I noticed it keeps coming up repeatedly even after dismissing it when I’m on FaceTime calls. Every other time it pops up only when I first wake the laptop from its sleep.
Anyone facing similar issues? I’m guessing this has to be a bug with MacSequoia. If not, I really don’t wanna visit the Apple Store and have them charge me senselessly for irrelevant repairs.
Any help will be appreciated!
Hey everyone,
I’m planning to buy a powerful laptop that’s reliable and built to last in the long term. After a lot of consideration, I’ve narrowed my choices down to three MacBooks, but I’m struggling to decide between them. Here’s the breakdown of the options:
M3 Air (15”) • Specs: 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU • Price: $1099
Pro M4 with M4 chip (14”) • Specs: 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU • Price: $1439
Pro M3 with M3 Pro chip (14”) • Specs: 18GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 11-core CPU, 14-core GPU • Price: $1439
I’m mainly looking for a laptop that will perform well for AI/ML tasks and neural network studies in the long term. Reliability and longevity are top priorities for me.
While the M3 Air is more affordable, I’m concerned about its limited 256GB storage and whether it can handle demanding workloads in the future.
On the other hand, the M4 and M3 Pro are priced the same, but I’m torn between the newer M4 chip with slightly lower specs and the more powerful M3 Pro chip (with extra RAM and GPU cores).
If you were in my shoes, which one would you pick? Is the extra cost for the Pro models worth it over the Air for AI/ML work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
I want a screwdriver to open the bottom cover of my macbook, is it the petalobe 5, if not which one will fit? thanks
I had my MacBook for 2 years, i faced this issue just this month while watching a movie, since then it always shut down at the same battery (35%) to open i have to charge it. I always use low power mode. The battery health is 94%, cycle count is 101 MacOS Ventura 13.3.1 What should i do to fix this problem?
Hi everyone,
I recently noticed a faint buzzing or static-like sound coming from the left-center area of my MacBook M2's keyboard. The sound is very subtle and can only be heard when I place my ear very close to the keyboard. I’m not sure if this issue has always been present and I just didn’t notice it before, or if it’s something new.
The performance of the device is completely normal, and I haven’t experienced any issues with its functionality. The speakers work perfectly without any distortion or abnormal sounds and the sound is still present when the MacBook is running on battery power without the charger connected.
I’m wondering if this could be related to coil whine or some other internal component. Is this normal for MacBook M2 devices, or should I be concerned?
I am new to Apple devices and want to try one out for office tasks only (no gaming). Is it worth it?
Hallo zusammen,
I’ve been heavily using my MacBook Air M1 2020 for coding and traveling across Ukraine over the last few years.
Sometimes, I wasn’t exactly sober, so it’s no wonder the MacBook dropped on concrete a few times.
Actually, It was fine – just some scratches on the frame, but it didn’t affect performance at all.
I really appreciate how durable Apple’s tech is – nothing could break it, not me, not concrete, not even the building shaking from nearby Russian rocket strikes (almost like an earthquake):
But then one day, an accident happened. I closed it with a jack cable caught in the corner of the screen... Luckily, it wasn’t the display or the matrix – I’m not sure what it’s called, maybe the under-display-panel glass (?).
Anyway it still worked fine afterward, with no noticeable issues. Over a year passed, and there were no display or performance problems.
Then, one day, the display started flickering, with random artifacts and blacking out. Eventually, it became completely unusable. I suspect a crack spread across the entire panel over time, which caused some cables to short.
Then I noticed this crack I didn't recall making, which confirmed my theory:
I asked a few service-centers how much it would cost to fix it - at least $300.
Considering I could buy same WORKING MacBook for nearly the same price, it didn’t make sense to fix it.
So, I left it in my room to gather dust and forgot about it for a few months.
Until recently, there were some electricity shortages, so I had nothing to do – couldn’t work, couldn’t eat, no internet.
I figured I had nothing to lose, so I’d finish breaking the MacBook and take a look at what happened with the cables.
I grabbed a knife and started scraping off the glass from the under-display-panel. After a few pieces, the display started working again – no more artifacts. I was shocked and glad.
Even though it looks like it’s been through a war (technically, it still in), it’s been working fine for the last few days, with no display issues at all.
I am thinking about buying the new Macbook Pro base model for college and i need to install some virtual machines like a windows and some linux distributions. Would i notice the difference really much if i go for the AIR M3 16gb ram? or M4 base model is more than enough?
Had them on for about 3 years
Hi folks! I want to buy m3 pro macbook pro, but i cannot decide between the storage option. Usage wise- I am a cross-platform mobile app developer, and i will also use the machine for digital painting, blender and unity game dev. So which option should i choose- will the 512 be enough or should i go for 1tb. The 1tb variant is slightly costly though. 512 one is 143000 INR (~1700 USD) and 1 tb is 168000 (2000 USD).
Also note that the 18/1tb is 18 core gpu whereas 18/512 is 14 core gpu
Hi I’m on budget now and I’m looking for macbook so can you guys tell me which one is the best for budget from the old macbooks. Cuz I’m new to macbook so…
