Hey, I was just considering buying Sea of Thieves and wanted to know if it is able to work on whisky. I'm on an M1 2020 macbook air so I dont expect anything to run at top performance. just curious if it runs at all.
Is anyone using the emulator and getting stable 60fps? Or is it still impossible for this game on Mac at the moment?
Getting 30 fps with an M3 Max (16-core CPU / 40-core GPU)
It has been awhile since I played with Whisky (probably last year after Windows BG3 released while waiting for native BG3 Mac version) and just installed the latest version of it. Previously you used to add GPTK manually and I think the last version I used might have even downloaded it for you. Now it downloads something called WhiskyWine. Am I correct in assuming this is GPTK2 or do I have to add it to Whisky manually? Most of the online tutorials don't mention WhiskyWine just GPTK.
Also I installed Sequoia, is there an updated version of GPTK. I know AVX support was added, but I believe that was an addition to Rosetta and seperate from GPTK. Is GPTK still based on an old version of Crossover (22.1.xxx) and therefore an old version of Wine. (v7)... or has it been updated in Sequoia?
Any suggestions on how to get sound working with Epic Mickey Rebrushed? The audio on all my other games works fine. Thanks.
After 3 years of use, I now want to replace my IMAC because it doesn't fulfill my needs.
Im using it for:
Streaming video games(using OBS)[games such as League of Legends and World of Warcraft].
Editing videos (up to 4K resolution)[with Premiere Pro and very rarely I use After Effects].
Everyday use.
The issues with that funnily enough aren't so much about the editing (I just downscale my resolution till I need to export and everything pretty much runs smoothly]. But I seem to have an issue with streaming and using a second monitor. The CPU reaches high temperatures after a while (especially with a 2nd monitor connected) up to 100°C. This results into drops of the FPS in game from around 150, down to 30-40 (which makes the game unplayable). Also according to Cleanmymac, my 8gb RAM reaches it's limit quite easily resulting to more issues.
With all that being said and a budget of less than 2000, I'm thinking of switching to a Mac mini (since I can't afford a Mac Studio).
Any specific specs I should look into, in order for me to no longer have the issues I've been having?
Or any general recommendations and highly appreciated.
Also can I connect a ps4 controller to play with? I only have an apple mouse and its hard to right click with which makes gaming absolutely terrible
I bought a refurb 2015 Macbook Pro because I missed playing my old games. I purchased this game directly from Hoyle Gaming which doesn't seem to exist anymore. When I click my old download link it no longer exists but I have my serial number in my purchase email. Anybody have the file I need? Thanks.

Hello everyone! Figured I'd share a quick start guide for getting these games up and running on Mac. I am using an M1 Pro. I'm not going to gas you up like a certain YouTuber we know and tell you how "literally perfectly FANTASTIC!" they are, since well these games are nearly a quarter century old. That being said I do want to give major kudos to the developers of all these projects for a job well done.
Issues: Lighting effects bleed through walls. This is probably a metal issue since I have seen similar behavior in other games. It's not gamebreaking. There is also some widescreen jank especially in cut scenes and when the free camera is somewhere the original game wouldn't have had to consider. Overall, the game is smooth but not without some visual issues.
This is a new release and Majora's Mask has always been a more difficult game to run, either on N64 hardware, the GameCube Collector's Edition, and emulation. You can proceed with generally the same instructions as above, especially if you want a vanilla, stable, tested experience. This time you need to possess an NTSC or North America version of the game. If that's all you want, just get the latest official release from the GitHub page (Rika Charlie as of October 2024. Future versions could add additional features). You won't nearly as many options as before but you can play the game at higher resolution and in widescreen plus a few other QoL things like saving and item resets (I hate MMs original save limitations, nobody got time for that!)
Okay but if you're like me once you go hi-res textures, you can't go back. There is a way. But it's more involved.
The difference is night and day!
Issues: No crashes yet! Cutscene jank but even mores, a lot of the features are not mature. Also some animations are bonked like the clock tower sometimes spins at like 1000 RPM. 😳 I have experienced in one of the shops a totally broken lighting effect (I think it's a transparent texture issue). Nevertheless you can press tab to revert to regular graphics on the fly if it's causing issues until you move to the next scene. The graphics are so good and the QoL with saving is worth it!!
Just a couple of quick notes on this one. It works but has probably the least, features wise. You can get it going from here. I have played through the intro so that was cool. This recompilation project is notable because it is approaching this from a different angle that ship of harkinian is. A recomp basically takes the original game but compiles it to run natively on the hardware. On the other hand, Ship of Harkinian is a reverse-engineering of the game to run on the hardware. This enables different advantages and disadvantages but with the recompile it's technically going to utilize the hardware a bit better and enable GPU stuff like raytracing (which this is MacGaming so LOL, but good to know if you do have a 4080 laying around your house)
Okay that about does it! If you need help, I am around. This goes without saying but please keep the questions limited to how to get the application up and running, and not about where to acquire resources. Happy gaming!

Game final fantasy xv windows edition
I have been playing the final fantasy 15 demo from the windows version of steam on an m1 mac using whisky and it runs great, so I got the full game on sale, but it wont launch. I made a new bottle and the game just wont open, if I try to launch it without steam it gives me a pop up saying I need to have steam open but steam will say running and then say play again after a few moments. I've tried with dxvk on and off, msync and esync and none all on and off, async on and off, and I know dxvk usually causes a crash from the demo, i've tried creating a new bottle as well multiple times. Lastly I tried in vmware fusion where the game would show in task manager for a moment and then disappear and show the same running and then play in steam. I had tried a cracked version that I knew worked on my windows computer and it gave me the same result so I caved and bought it just to find the same issue.
Hi everybody.
I'd like to play some SNES game on OpenEmu with a bluetooth controller that I used with my Nintendo Switch. The controller is recognized by MacOs and OpenEmu, but I can't use it while playing. Even if I choose the Nintendo Switch controller, the keyboard still works on the game...
Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks Asogar
Pls suggest me some good games that won't toast my mba m3.
Cloud gaming is not for me as I don't have a fast stable net.
I just wanted to make a quick note here for those who are looking for some tips for emulating 7th-gen games in M1 Macs. In my experience, emulation is often an easier thing to test out than wasting money on Parallels, Crossover, etc, and allows you to play games which PC still hasn't seen ports of.
I am, of course, not writing this to condone or promote piracy. Developers should be supported, if possible. Dump your own games, get official BIOS files, etc etc.
I have used many emulators—Aethersx2, PCSX2, Dolphin, OpenEmu, etc—and they all have their quirks. On the whole, anything newer than PS1 is going to be hit-or-miss. However, RCPS3 has proven to be the most obnoxious emulator. Game compatibility is all over the place, and I swear every new update breaks another game which previously worked fine.
However, if you have games you want to play on an M1 Mac, just keep in mind these things:
Try and stick to earlier games in the PS3 life cycle. If the game is newer than early-2010, it likely will run terribly or not at all.
If you have a game which the compatibility list says should work and yet doesn't, down-grade to an earlier version of the emulator. It may work then. I have had several games do this (F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon, Hitman: Blood Money, Resistance: Fall of Man, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare).
Be ready to give up. These are just games, and the people developing the emulator do so in their spare time. If it doesn't work, and you've spent a ton of time trouble-shooting, it might be best to throw in the towel.
Thats all I have to say. I do think emulation is the Mac's current saving grace when it comes to gaming. It really strikes me as odd that Apple products are as popular as they are and yet no one tries to play games on it besides us weirdos.

Here are some photos I took using Content Manger + CSP (M1 Pro 14' 16gb 512gb) - Runs at an average of ~105 fps
I can play anything i would love racing games
im curious if i can run dbh on my m1 16gb macbook air
I know, I can’t play heavy games on it. But I really love simulation based games like Sims 4, Banished, City Skiylines etc. So how can I do that?
Dont know why but everytime I try to open ubisoft connect it says "the file ubisoft connect could not be opend"
I’m on an M1 Pro MacBook, 16 gbs memory. The game was running rather well before. Not the ultimate experience, but very passable at least for me on 30 fps and a blend of other graphics. Had to take a month long break from the game because life, and I was in act 3 and doing completely fine. Game was certainly pushing my fans a little, but no stutters.
When I got back, patch 7 was out. And unfortunately, it’s no longer as good. The game is now very stuttery in an intensive area. I’ve been fiddling with my graphic settings trying to get it back to normal, but no die. Interestingly enough, the cutscenes are fine it seems. When I first start them they get a little laggy but then get back to being smooth. I actually played one in higher settings than normal just because, and it ran fine.
Additionally with bg3, the game gets a lot slower when it’s in an intensive area with the menus and such. It’s really bad rn, and my camera controls have glitched at times. I also had one super weird bug where the walls of a house I had to load into dissapared for like 5 seconds until loading in. The game has never had issues loading stuff before the screen ends. Will say that combat does seem to be fine, interface wasn’t laggy during that and I got into 2 bouts this session. None with explosions but the fps hit when they happen is manageable and honestly kinda a bonus since I think it’s funny when that happens.
I’m going to try going back to patch 6. Chances are the progress I made in the new version is no longer compatible but it’s fine. This is my first play through, don’t need mods or new evil endings just yet anyhow. I did read that I might not be able to use my saves though..? Has anyone had luck going down a patch with this game?
Just want to see if anyone has suggested settings in the meantime. It’s annoying because the game was so smooth on my original settings, and now it’s very much not. Idk if there’ll be a hot fix for this or not as I haven’t heard any other complaints about the performance on PC. It might be a Mac thing. They did at least fix an annoying resolution bug where my Mac’s screen size would get changed after playing, but that’s it.

Hello I have a MacBook Air 15 last night I did an os update but except that you have to enter the password the keyboard no longer works as if you had to do a keyboard function to unlock it
