My internet on Windows is significantly worse than on MacOs

So recently I installed Windows on my 2018 15" Macbook Pro, and have been noticing how my internet is a lot slower when I do anything in it, but when I do those same things on Mac, my internet is just fine.

Can someone please help me out?

Can’t get back to OS X Shortcuts don’t work

Hey, I’m trying to wipe my Macbook Pro 2015 (A1398). The thing is it’s stuck on windows and I want to return it to OS X and when trying to go back to OS X it returns no OS X partition error. If I remember correctly when installing Windows on it I’ve checked as much space as I could since I didn’t think I would use OS X anymore. Shift+Command+R Power+Command+P+R, Command+R don’t work. Any suggestions? Just looking to get it factory reset. Thanks!

Update from 23h2 to 24h2

So I'm on a 2019 MBP running W11 on 23h2. 24h2 is not popping on Windows Update, is there a way to "legit" force this, or do I need to do a whole run around again like I did when installing W11 in the first place?

Windows installation stuck at network step. There's no option to skip it

Hi, Im new to bootcamp. After weeks of trying to use mac os, I decided to have windows installation on this device. But I couldn't complete the installation as there is nothing shown up to skip or to add a network connection as in the picture. I did a reboot and it just reloaded to the first setup step, and then this happened again. Is there anyway to fix it?

Windows freezes on first startup

Hi all,

I have a 16” 2019 MBP, everything is maxed out on the features aside from storage.

For a long time, everything worked just fine. If I had the laptop on windows and it went to sleep, it would stay in windows. Now even with the option to never shut down selected, I still find my laptop has turned off completely and resets itself to the Mac OS and not allowing me to go back to windows even while holding the option key.

Then, when I restart from the Mac login, and hold option to go back to windows, it’ll load up the same background image, every time. And completely freeze at the login screen. I can’t enter the password or click on anything, so I have to restart, again, and then it works just fine.

Any idea what’s going on here and how to fix it? I’m assuming windows forced an update on me and it fucked a few things up. Any easy fix?

I’m sure this is a common error but any idea how to bypass it?

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro running Sequoia and trying to install windows 10 as windows 11 was greyed out for whatever reason when I downloaded the iso file.

Advice on a Mac that would work best for me?

Sorry if this is an annoying post, just want some insight. I don’t have a Mac and haven’t had one in 6-7 years. I want to get a MacBook for a variety of reasons as a side piece to my Windows machine, but the biggest thing I want in one is one that will support a 32 bit version of windows with Bootcamp. Xp, 7, 10, it doesn’t make a big difference. Just one that will be the most reliable and best experience. There’s an old game that I have and only way I can run it is with 32 bit version of windows. I’ve tried so many solutions but none work other then 32 bit windows. I’ve played it on a Mac with windows before but it was a Mac mini and back in 2014 ish so I’m rusty and all the info is kinda confusing as to what works best. The newer the Mac the better but just want some honest opinions. Thanks in advance, I appreciate any insight

Using 2015 iMac 21” as a display using Bootcamp partition?

Okay, to set the scene I was gifted a very powerful gaming laptop (Windows 10) a few Christmases back. I have an old iMac from before then which I want to use as a monitor for it when I’m at home. Since having a laptop on my desk is extremely bad for my posture, the screen is comparably tiny, and I do not feel safe having it on my bed. As it gets so hot after long sessions I’m genuinely afraid it’ll make my sheets catch fire.

The problem is that I’ve learned that my iMac is just new enough to where they removed TargetDisplay which would make this problem nonexistent. I don’t want to buy any extra peripherals if possible and I have an HDMI to USB-C/Thunderbolt/whatever it’s called, that plugs into my Mac perfectly (I got it for my drawing tablet)

So I thought to myself, “if this is purely an issue with removing a feature from the operating system, why not just get a tiny partition for a separate one!” Since I’m only casting to the bigger monitor, I can just use the laptop as a processor.

A full bootcamp is a bit time consuming, and I’m a little scared since last time I ended up wiping my entire hard drive on accident. So, if anyone has similar stuff and is willing to try it first or knows enough to confirm if this is the case or not, please let me know!

Upgrading from Windows 10 Version 1511

Hi everyone. I replaced the SSD on my MacBook Pro 2014, and after many days of trial & error I was able to install Windows 10 Version 1511.

I’m trying to upgrade to a newer version, but I always get the same error:

“OxC1900101 - 0x30018 The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP operation”

As far as it looks all the drivers have been updated, and I can’t find any solutions.

So how do you partition a disk properly?

I'm on Macbook 2010 with Core 2 Duo p8600, 10 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD, macOS (10.13) High Sierra.

I'm trying to setup a Windows 7 bootcamp installation, i only want to dedicate 80gb to the windows partition as I'm only using it to play a few Windows games and other apps.

So i divided it in the bootcamp assistant application, 80gb to windows and the remaining space goes to the normal macOS partition.

Then i just get the message "partitioning disk.." just stuck for 1 hour now, it hasn't moved past 1/4 of the bar - did i do something wrong?? surely it doesn't take this long..... right? i'm reading online you have to leave it on overnight.. do i really have to do that?

Mouse used to work but now stopped

Hello everybody,

I have ran bootcamp on an external ssd for the last year and a half without issue thus far. As of last week, all of my mice (I tried bluetooth and wired) suddenly stopped working only on the windows partition. I have tried reinstalling/updating drivers and even a system restore but it doesn't seem to help. The mice work fine on the mac partition in any port so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.

I'd appreciate any help with this, thank you!

Bad System Config Error

I have been pretty successfully running a mid-2012 MBP with ONLY win10 for several months. I recently ran into an issue when trying to install TomTom Home to update my nav unit for my car. Unfortunately, it's the only way to update the unit. I successfully installed the software, and upon reboot, I received the Bad System Config error. I've tried all the options under recovery --> advanced options. I ran CHKDSK and ended up with this message: "Chkdsk failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 6." What does that message mean, and how can I fix it? My only option (from my research) is to install another fresh Win10 via USB. I had to do this before I initially decided to reset the computer. I'd rather not have to keep doing this on a routine basis when I install a program. I don't usually install software on the computer, but since I'm without my desktop, I figured it was worth a shot.

Is it worth reinstalling Windows 10 again? I don't have any macOS on the computer, and I wonder if that may have caused the issue.

First-time poster, long-time lurker, and y'all were able to help solve so many of my software issues when I initially changed the OS to win10. If you need any additional info, let me know and I'd be happy to provide what I can.

updating windows 11: system reserved partition error

Looking at my previous post, I don't think I made it very clear so here we go again: I have a 2019 MBP 16" w/ i9 CPU and discrete 5500M GPU, 32Gb ram and 2Tb... it's currently on Sequoia 15.2 and windows 11 21H2 is installed on bootcamp partition. The MacOS & Bootcamp is split roughly 50:50. I my mbp is not quite upto Microsoft standard so the normal windows update doesn't get me newer win11 so I'm stuck at 21H2. As such, I downloaded 24H2 ISO and tried to do server install after I mount the ISO file. That's when I got the system reserved partition error. So I'm a bit puzzled here and would appreciate if anyone can give me a pointer. Tx in advance.

How do I install Windows 10?

I've just recently got a Late 2010 13" MacBook Air (MacBookAir3,2) for cheap to use it as a Windows machine (for occasional tinkering). The installation goes smooth, but whenever I install the graphics driver (it has a NVIDIA GeForce 330M), Windows will start bootlooping until it throws me into Automatic Repair and uninstalls the driver automatically, only then will Windows boot again. I've read somewhere that this is due to Windows being installed in EFI (as opposed to BIOS/Legacy), so not all of the drivers work, not sure if graphics is one of them. Apparently the only way I can force my MacBook to install in BIOS/Legacy mode is to use a DVD drive, speaking of which I don't possess/can't borrow from anyone. Are there any workarounds I can use to get a fully working Windows 10 installation on this machine?

Not the same spec as Apple's website?

I recently acquired a iMac 27inch 5k retina Mid-2015 for a very cheap price and decided to install Windows 10 via Bootcamp which works well as for now.

Looking around in the settings and such I realized that the specs shown on Windows did not match Apple's specs concerning their mid 2015 iMacs, mostly concerning the ''Graphics''. On Apple's website, they claim that ''AMD's Radeon R9 M290 graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory'' is what they used but then if you scroll down a little you can see in ''Configure to Order'': ''AMD Radeon R9 M295X graphics processor with 4GB of GDDR5 memory''

Yet, I can see in Device Manager that I do not have either, but rather AMD's Radeon R9 M380. Which is it?

My Windows 11 Bootcamp Pitfalls / How I made Win 11 work without Upgrading (2019 MBP 16,1/RX 6800 EGPU)

https://preview.redd.it/g3no2cuv6see1.png?width=814&format=png&auto=webp&s=0d37552df8a253a9a8ce40186ad60075da8b8f3d

I mainly use MacOS Monterey, but my Bootcamp only supports Windows 10, every Windows 11 version I tried resulted in an almost immediate failure trying to download the support software. Any boot from a native Windows 11 ISO resulted in a "Installation Hardware not Detected" screen, and even with the downloaded Windows support Files they would not be detected in the driver selection screen.

It seems the community's response is to install Windows 10 then directly upgrade to 11 that way. My upgrade failed multiple times across multiple versions (Home, Pro, Pro for Workstation, Enterprise).

Since I use a EGPU which is plug and play on Mac (RX 6800) it was a requirement that it work and Windows 10 22H2 has known issues with EGPU detection (none of the error 12 solutions worked for me) and older versions are already becoming unsupported. I had to make Windows 11 work or I was SOL.

My solution? I made a custom Windows 11 ISO with the bootcamp drivers integrated into the setup.

I downloaded the Windows Support Software from Bootcamp (there's an option in the top bar) stuck it on a flash drive and then installed a version on Windows 10 through bootcamp. In Windows 10 I downloaded a new Win11 ISO, used a program called NTLite to integrate the drivers from the Support Software as well as disabled the TPM2.0 requirements, Exported the ISO and then used another program called Rufus to burn the ISO to a USB. Then just turned off the signed OS version and turned on external bootable media, made a custom partition in diskutil. then installed normally.

Afterwards, run the Bootcamp installer from the Windows support software and everything seems to work! Touchbar, Wifi, Bluetooth,Action Center Controls, the works! From what I have experienced, this has worked with Windows 11 Pro, and Enterprise LTSC 24. I don't see why it wouldn't work with other versions.

I also don't see why this wouldn't work for various other Mac models, but this worked beautifully for me.

Additional Information / EGPU Setup : I had to use the aftermarket AMD drivers from bootcampdrivers for my setup (I personally used the Red version, I don't see why the blue version wouldn't work). The included Radeon Drivers don't seem to like the EGPU Setup, or atleast they didn't natively detect the RX 6800 in Device Manager. on Windows 10 the aftermarket drivers *did* detect the RX 6800, but resulted in an indefinite Error 12. If you own the license for NTLite you can integrate the host machine's drivers automatically, which I Installed the BCD Radeon drivers on Windows 10, integrated from the host, and actually had display out from the EGPU during the Win 11 OOBE. now the reinstall of the bootcamp software *does* reinstall the original graphics driver, so to make the EGPU to work you will have to manually repeat the process of installing the custom graphics driver to make the EGPU detected again.

Partition question

Is it only possible to boot windows 10 from a usb drive instead of my internal ssd on a MacBook pro from late 2013 running Big Sur? Tried doing the usual method but bootcamp always asked me to plug in a usb drive instead of skipping straight to the partition. Thanks!
