I have a Apple TV - OREI Audio Extractor for eARC - Sonos Arc - Projector setup. I used to get Dolby Atmos and Sonos App used to show Dolby Atmos when playing atmos content. Since I have upgraded to tvos 18.3 I am not getting Dolby Atmos.
Apple TV Audio format: Pre-18.3 showed 'Atmos when available' text when Change Format is turned off. Now it doesn't. Please check the attached screenshot.
Sonos App shows Multi Channel PCM when showing DA content.
Any idea what is happening?
Lately, my picture has been blurry when I watch live events even though my internet is perfectly fine on all other devices.
Does anyone know a fix for this? My Apple TV is around 5 years old, so is it possible that I need a new one?
I did a search but didn't see this issue specifically.
We just switched to Fidium (Consolidated Communications) fiber from Comcast/Xfinity home internet. Prior to the change, the streaming app live TV worked fine. After the change, after authenticating, Xfinity Stream live TV gives the message "This device can only access Xfinity Stream on your in-home Xfinity Wifi".
We have another TV connected to an Xfinity cable box that's connected to my router by Ethernet cable using the Fidium connection and streaming works fine on that TV... to be expected I suppose since it's an Xfinity cable box.
Here's the weirdness... On both a Pixel and an iPhone, if we turn off our mobile internet so we're on our local wifi using the Fidium internet, the Xfinity Stream app lets us stream live TV.
So, is this strictly an Apple issue? I tried connecting the AppleTV by both Ethernet and wifi. The AppleTV is a second gen TV 4k (A2169 2021) running 18.2.1.

Wonder if anyone has had this issue, I’m cancelled my subscription as I would like to change regions. It currently reads “Your subscription ends on February 3.” Where I live (and base my account) it’s already February 4. Is the Apple TV sub based on US timezones? I’ve been waiting a week already to switch regions before I resub and am finding this to be a frustrating experience.
I use Emby to stream my movies on my AppleTV 4K, and I noticed some movies will utilise head tracking with AirPods, however others won’t.
I understand different apps don’t always support head tracking, however is it normal for content within one app to turn head tracking on and off? Thank you!
My Apple TV 4K used to cycle through all the screen savers but since after the tvOS 18 update it only cycles through like 5 and then just goes and sits on a black screen and goes back to the Home Screen when I click a button on the remote, this is annoying me because I enjoy how they look and now can’t look at them. what can I do to fix this
I’m currently spiraling about ads on Disney plus. Yes I know I can pay more for no ads but my kid watches the same 5-10 movies so I’m thinking of just buying them.
So, has anyone ever seen Disney (animated) movies go on sale, such as Cinderella, sleeping Beauty etc? Or are those prices pretty firm?
Hi community, I realized that the Remote button push is sometimes acting as Two clicks. Up, Left, Down, and all buttons acting normal.
It seems to be a pattern. I push the Right navigation button on the ring once, and it goes to the right once. I push it again. and it will click over twice. I push it a third time, it goes once. and so on.
This is NOT related to an app. it is happening in every app.
Anyone else experiance this? I am on the latest OS level, I have ATV 4K
When VPN streaming, the service often is interrupted by the following message:
Alternating IP Access The stream stopped because we detected too many different IPs accessing it. Please try to restart the stream.
Is there anything I can do please?
Lately my apple tv has started to behave strangely, we suspect that someone has connected to my apple tv using another tv remote as we witnessed the message “remote controller connected” before music started changing randomly and the homepods started playing music without anyone telling them to do so, we have checked who's connected to our network and apple tv device, we have put the airplay to only this house and only people on the same network even asking them for password but nothing seems to work, if someone could please help
Hey everyone
I wondered if this odd thing ever happened to anyone else. Today I opened up my Apple TV box to the TV app and in the Continue Watching row, a movie listed on the very first spot had been played but I had finished that movie a month ago. But there was another movie I was actually playing day before which was replaced by the prior one mentioned. Although the one had recently been watching disappeared from Continue Watching section, it didn’t lose the timestamp I had left it at. Rest of the movies in that section remained unchanged. No one else has access to my Apple TV, so found this to be odd. Do the listings on Apple TV ever fluctuate due to some error or for any reason?
I’d appreciate any input regarding this matter.
PS. A point of note, the first movie that replaced what I was in midst of watching was at a Resume timestamp I had left it at initially when I was watching the movie a month ago before I finished it.
Edit: Just to clarify, I am referring to my purchased content here for both movies.
Is there something I am not seeing on how to start an Apple TV show over from the beginning without rewinding all the way back to the beginning? This is an Apple TV show (eg. Severance) viewing on Apple TV hardware (A2843)
So we went to watch a movie on the HBO Max app last night through Apple TV. The audio was so low, especially dialogue it was unwatchable. So I went into the audio settings of the Apple TV and for whatever reason it was showing the Stereo setting. Now, we have a Nakamichi 7.2.4 system so we should be getting surround sound. So I put the audio into the Auto setting and had the Dolby Atmos enabled option engaged. Now, my understanding is that the HBO Max app only steams movies in 5.1. Other streaming apps like Disney+ can do Atmos and of course if you rent a movie from the Apple Store it can do Atmos as well. Well even with the Auto setting the sound was way too quiet. So then I came across an old Reddit thread where someone said to force the Apple TV audio to 5.1 setting. So I did that, and lo and behold the audio streaming from HBO Max was perfectly clear now. However, when you put the Apple TV audio into the 5.1 it says Atmos is not available. So does this mean anytime I would want to rent a movie or watch Disney+ that supports Atmos, I then have to swap the audio back? If so, that seems very cumbersome. If it has to be that way, shouldn’t Apple let you specify the audio format for each streaming app?
I can’t find any on eBay. And I’m not saying I’m hurting to sell. The actually device isn’t anything special. But the box is and it’s kinda a cool thing.
Any ideas on its worth ?
Apologies if this is a repeat question but I couldn’t find this exact “feature” in the previous posts. With the newish iOS release I get constantly asked to add different apps to Apple TV watchlist. This happens on the Apple TV apps as well as the apps on my phone as soon as a video starts playing. I constantly click “don’t allow” it then thinks for a minute and spins and just says “okay cool we won’t do that then”. Then an hour or day or couple days later it just asks again.
When signing using Apple ID, I get the error message above. I have retrieved the 2FA-code and entered the password + code into the password box.
I have also restarted and reset the machine and changed it from wifi to ethernet. Any idea what the cause of this could be or is the device done for? Thanks
CEC was working perfectly fine for a long time with a Vizio. One day it literally stopped in the middle of adjusting the volume. Tried everything - pulling power cords/waiting, checking for firmware updates, …
FIX: Reboot the AppleTV remote. For my remote that’s accomplished by holding the TV button and volume down button at the same time for something like 5 seconds.
How I discovered this: weeks after the Vizio stopped working the volume button “jammed” raising or lowering the volume on a different tv suddenly. Googling I found a link about rebooting the remote so I gave that a shot and it fixed that problem. Then it dawned on me maybe it would fix the issue with the Vizio setup that we’d been dealing with for weeks and it did.

I am about to get Apple TV switching from Roku. Does anyone know if Apple TV has channel preset functionality on the remote or voice? It doesn't look like it from what I've seen but wanted to check or if anyone has other suggestions. Thanks!
Has anyone had any weird playback issues on just the Netflix app on their Apple TV 4K box?
I have a Netflix Premium sub and have watched content in 4K with Dolby Vision without any issues for years on both my 4K boxes (a gen2 and a gen3 box) but in the last week my main Netflix profile refuses to show anything in 4K or Dolby Vision or HDR of any kind. It defaults to HD on anything labelled as 4K.
If I use the Netflix app on the TV itself or on a 4K Firestick my profile plays 4K & Dolby Vision without any problem.
Every other app on both Apple TV 4K boxes plays 4K HDR & Dolby Vision correctly so it's not an issue with the TVs or HDMI handshakes. Broadband speed is fast and consistent - both boxes are on ethernet connected to a 1Gbps fibre line.
The weird thing is that I created a new Netflix profile in my account and this plays 4K Dolby Vision. So why does my original main profile not?
I've checked all settings on both Apple TV boxes - I've tried different video output settings, match frame rate/dynamic range on/off but nothing sorts it. I've deleted the app completely, reinstalled and re-signed in. That doesn't work either.
I've checked all settings on my account on the Netflix website. All seem correct and settings are identical on both profiles.
What the heck is going on? It's like my original profile sees my account as being Standard, not Premium but the newly created account reads it correctly as Premium. And why does my original profile work perfectly well on other devices and not on the Apple TV boxes? Two of them! Connected to two different brands of TV. Doesn't make any sense at all.
how do i move a “home video” from apple tv to an external app like VLC. I cant seem to figure it out bc its the only way i can add external subtitles to it
Just picked *another Apple TV for 15CHF at a flea market and it seems to have a heat sync attached. Never seen this before. Any ideas why?
Hello I’m experiencing troubles with my brand new setup. As soon as I plug them in I have a huge connectivity drop (from over ~100mbps to ~10)
All updated to lastest (imagine the pain in these situation).
Any ideas?
Has anyone experienced this? Ive rebooted, my wifi quality is great, I found the video troubleshooting steps and it seems they no longer apply, and my Apple TV 4K is up to date on the latest software.
Not sure what else I can do.
Just to note before I start, I'm posting this in r/appletv instead of r/Spotify_Support because this seems to be specifically an Apple TV problem and I don't think someone with technical knowledge of just Spotify would know what to do about this, however if it would be better posted in the Spotify sub then please let me know :)
So I don't use the Spotify app on Apple TV a lot, but recently I had some friends over and we wanted to go through a playlist which we did on my TV. But that died down super quickly because there was insanely bad lag that just made the whole thing INCREDIBLY annoying. When we tried to skip through the songs on the playlist, the previous song would stop playing but the info would stay up on the screen (song / artist name, background image, album cover, etc), however the progress bar would start over as if it skipped to the next song. No audio played, and the bar just started counting seconds in silence as if the next song on the playlist was playing.
When we tried to wait it out, it took 5-10 seconds before the next song actually started to play, and the progress bar was still several seconds ahead (sorry if this is a bit confusing to explain lol, I can try and clarify / explain anything further if needed). It would work fine and skip normally every once in a while, so this problem was super inconsistent as well. We could force the screen to update if we pressed the pause button, which refreshed both the song info and the progress bar. However about 1/4 of the time, the inputs just didn't work at all. Pressing the pause, skip, or rewind buttons wouldn't do anything until a few seconds later, even when spamming it (which I know you're not really supposed to do, but don't act like we all don't have moments of frustration lmao). Although, when I spammed the skip button all of the inputs registered at once when it finally did load and it skipped ahead about 10 songs in the playlist.
At first I thought it might be a remote connection issue and that it was low on battery, but this ONLY happens with the Spotify app (and I also checked the percentage, my remote is still about half charged). It also only happens with Spotify on Apple TV, the app on my phone and laptop works as normal, which is why I don't think this is a Spotify issue and has something to do with the TV.
I've tried:
-Restarting my TV
-Restarting / fully quitting Spotify
-Closing out of all other apps running in the background
-Updating the app
-Uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify
-Software update
I do know that specifically the Apple TV Spotify app just kind of sucks anyway and they don't really optimize it, like... at all. It's possible that's just what this is and it's not some glitch / problem on my end, but if this was just how the app worked, I feel like I wouldn't be the only one getting incredibly annoyed by this. I obviously looked for existing answers online before making this post, but all I could find were people having issues that their songs were skipping randomly and no one seemed to be having this specific issue. My Apple TV is super new, I've only had it maybe 5 months or so now and again don't seem to have any problems with other apps. Again, I'm not sure if this is an Apple TV, Spotify, or just a me problem, but I'm posting it here first, so please let me know if this could be better answered somewhere else. I appreciate any possible advice / suggestions / explanations :)
Is there a way to stop a remote from disconnecting when the apple tv turns off ??
Ive had my AppleTV for maybe 3 years and it has become very frustrating to use. Freezes and pinwheels often, the picture is often blurry because it won't keep up with the stream, if I try to rewind or go back while watching something, it either does nothing or freezes up for 10 minutes and then starts back from the same point instead of actually rewinding. My $25 Roku stick is doing a better job. I hate saying it because Ive been an Apple user for a long time and currently have 3 HomePods, an iMac, a MacBook Pro, iPhone, Apple Watch and the AppleTV. Im just starting to get really frustrated with how some of this stuff performs compared to more affordable non-apple products. IDK if Apple is still doing shady things like using updates to slow down older products as a way of forcing us to upgrade, but they are really starting to lose their luster in my eyes. my iMac is used solely for music production and I have been a loyal Apple user of almost 30 years now. I use their stuff because I love the OS and in the past when you called Apple for customer support chances were that you were going to get someone who was also an artist and really understood what most Apple users were doing and genuinely tried to help. But it has becoming much harder to justify the cost of this gear because of stupid issues like this one with a little AppleTV. Especially when I can build a machine myself that runs every bit as good as an Apple Built machine. I just despise windows and can't use ProTools on Linux.
