The Odyssey in the Mushroom Kingdom: Mario’s Long Journey Home

Part 1: The Hero’s Departure

Mario, the brave and heroic plumber, has just returned from a grand adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom. He is eager to get back to Princess Peach’s Castle, but his journey home won’t be so easy. Instead of sailing the seas, Mario must face the many challenges of the Kingdom and beyond, with Bowser's minions lurking at every turn.

But before Mario can return home, Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach once again. To save her, Mario is forced to venture deep into unfamiliar lands. His faithful brother, Luigi, and his trusty sidekick Yoshi are by his side.

Part 2: The Island of the Goombas (The Cicones)

Mario and his friends first land on an island that seems peaceful at first. However, it’s inhabited by Goombas, who attack Mario and his crew in an ambush. Mario’s group fights back bravely, but they’re forced to retreat, and the Goombas steal much of their power-ups.

Part 3: The Land of the Piranha Plants (The Lotus-Eaters)

Next, Mario’s group comes across a strange land filled with Piranha Plants. These plants aren't dangerous at first, but when Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi eat their fruit, they fall into a deep stupor. They lose their sense of purpose and forget all about Princess Peach. Fortunately, Toad arrives just in time to remind them of their mission, and they shake off the effects of the plants to continue on.

Part 4: The Cyclops (Polyphemus)

Mario and his group encounter a gigantic, one-eyed beast on a desolate island—none other than Big Boo, who resides in a haunted mansion. The Boo traps Mario and his friends inside, but Mario uses his wits to escape. By tricking Big Boo, Mario and his crew blind the Cyclops with a Super Mushroom, and they narrowly escape the island.

Part 5: The Sirens (The Sirens)

As Mario and his friends travel further, they come across a group of seductive voices singing from an island. These voices belong to the Sirens—a trio of mischievous Lakitus who try to lead Mario and Luigi into dangerous waters. However, with the help of Toadette’s clever thinking, they plug their ears with Super Mushrooms to avoid falling under the Sirens’ spell.

Part 6: The Underworld (The Land of the Dead)

In their travels, Mario and his group are forced to enter a dark and eerie realm—a land filled with ghosts and spirits. This is where they encounter the Ghost House of the Dead, ruled by King Boo, who demands they complete his deadly challenges if they wish to leave alive. Mario faces off against King Boo in a tense battle, using his fireballs to overcome the ghostly ruler.

During this time, Mario has a vision of Princess Peach, who tells him to keep going, as she’s still waiting for him to rescue her.

Part 7: The Return to the Mushroom Kingdom

After many trials, Mario and his crew finally make their way back to the Mushroom Kingdom. But Bowser isn’t giving up yet. He’s taken over Peach’s Castle and built a formidable fortress.

In an epic showdown, Mario and Bowser face off in the final battle. With the help of Luigi, Yoshi, and Princess Peach (who escapes and helps in the final fight), Mario defeats Bowser once and for all. The Mushroom Kingdom is saved, and Mario finally returns home after a long, hard journey.

Epilogue: Home at Last

After everything, Mario has completed his long journey, but it was the bonds with his friends and his unyielding determination that truly led him home. Princess Peach thanks him for his bravery, and the Mario brothers, together with their friends, enjoy a well-earned celebration in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I am currently trying to 100% SM3DL and I’ve gotten 4 stars total, the only thing I need to do is complete every level with Mario and Luigi.

the only thing is how do I get the shiny stars once I get all 5 other stars?

ive heard you have to play every level without using the super tanooki suit but I don’t think ive used it so why doesn’t it appear?

or do I have to not die 5 times every level, would I have to play the entire game again without dying 5 times.
